My ipod touch randomly goes full blast and I can't turn it down, please help before I go deaf!
even when I turn it all the way down it just goes full blast all on it's own. It's driving me crazy!!
If you are using headphones try another pair. Preferabley one withour a remote.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

The master password protects saved passwords in Thunderbird and has nothing to do with connecting to your providers server. You need to work with your email provider if you have forgotten your email password. Go to their email help site and look for a link to reset your password.

My hard drive is randomly on full blast and the CPU at 50% usage...???
Out of the blue all of a sudden my hard drive goes to work at full capacity and the CPU is at 50% usage. iotop shows nothing. I close Chromium, Gedit, and my Terminal and the hard drive continues for a minute on full blast.
I hate when the computer does these things without my approval. What's going on here?@ewaller: Exactly! iotop *should* show something but it doesn't. If it happens again, I'll have a look at the logs. Which logs should I look in?
@litemotiv and egan: Yeah, i know updatedb does this sometimes, but in this case it lasted much much longer and updatedb didn't show up in iotop like it normally does. Also, i've kept a very very detailed log of every single thing i've installed or which settings I've modified. This incident has only happened a few times so I don't think it's a package or a cronjob. I don't think i have any cron jobs except for one. Last time it happened randomly hours into my session.
I use Gnome. DAEMONS=(syslog-ng dbus hal networkmanager !network netfs alsa !avahi-daemon @crond)
A bad sector seems like a possibility!

So I have had this problem before, and know that you hold down the top Power button and the Home button, at the same time, for roughly 10 seconds, or until the apple logo comes on.
The problem is, when I press the buttons and the screen goes black, like it's supposed to before the logo pops up, the apple logo isn't appearing.
I was wondering if that's because my I pod touch was drained when I plugged it in to charge, and I tried to turn it on when it was still charging?
What can I do?Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Media files on my iPod touch are categorized as other and I can't use them
I connect my iPod touch to iTunes on my cousins computer and all my media files were tranfered to other. They still take up space on the iPod but there not where they are supposed to be. I think something like this happened when I had my iPod video but I fixed it easily by opening the iPod files with mycomputer and finding where they were I could right the wrong....however, my iPod touch does not appear in mycomputer wen I connect it but on my laptop wen I open mycomputer it appears as a camera and I cannot do anything with that. Is this normal....should my iPod appear in mycomputer......and how do I fix the problem with my media files being categorized as other.
P.S. If I add new media files they go where they are supposed to. I could restore my iPod and start over but I don't have backups so I want to get them back in there proper placeI really don't want to do that......is there anything the people at the apple store can do?
Also.....I was was having a problem viewing videos. The videos showed as bright colors i.e hilighter yellow and pink and it was distorted. Even youtube. I restored the settings and it stopped....did this happen to any1 else and is it something I should be worried about although its gone? -

I'm not sure if it's fried or not, but try rebooting the device by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for about 15 seconds or so. Hopefully you will see the Apple logo.

I have Windows 7 installed with the LATEST iTunes software.
I get this message while restoring and now my iPod is in restore mode. When I try to restore it fails after this message pops up. Please tell me a fix to it.
1) I've checked my internet connection. All the sites work perfectly.
2) I've tried it after disabling the windows firewall as well as my antivirus.
3) I've also tried changes with the "hosts" file in Windows>System32>Driveres>etc.
