My ipod touch switchs off

My Ipod touch keeps making a camera shutter sound and then flashes and then cuts off. It will not cut back on when I try to start it.  I reset it by holding the on/off button and the center circle.  It flashes then the reboot symbols come up (usb and ITUNE symbols) I plug it up to the computer and the recovery program starts to load, but the Ipod flashes and cut off.  I left it alone and it started acting normal( music and video are fine) for a half hour.  Then all the same symptoms happen again.  What can I do? Please help I can't live without my IPOD

My iPod touch is off and wont turn on because it has the itunes logo and a usb pointing to it, so when i looked it up online, it says i have to restore it but i don't want to because i don't want to lose all my pictures. What can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Help! My Ipod wont switch off!

    please help me..
my ipod wont switch off..i hv a 30GB ipod video..
normally it will switch off automatically after a few mins if i dont play songs, but recently it wont switch off and it's using up the battery!
and when i press hold Play button to switch off manually, it doesnt hv any effect..
    help!
does this happen to any of you??

I think this is some type of bug. I have had this problem with my iPod photo and now my 5th gen. iPod.
It's most noticeable after ejecting the iPod from the computer. It takes a short while before you an turn the iPod off. Sometimes it will not turn off when viewing a video. So hit the menu button and start playing a song - then it will probably turn off. It's a bug because the iPod will sense the button press by changing the top porting of the display (toggling time etc..) but it simply won't turn off. I wonder if it's something to do with the hard drive spinning at the moment???
Anyway, try playing a song and try again.

  • Why does my ipod touch turn off and not turn on for a while

every once in a while my ipod touch turns off and wont turn back on for a day or two. So why does it do this, it is from over use of the ipod?

Try the following fixes in order:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod
If yo still have the problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod kept switching off

    Has anyone else experienced this?
Yesterday my ipod kept switching off during songs. A tap on the central button switched it back on and it continued playing but kept doing this every minute or so. The screen just kept greying out.
Today I switch it on and it plays fine continuously. Is this just a glitch or can I stop it if it starts doing it again?

I had the exact symptoms you describe. (nano 3rd gen) Not sure if it was necessary, but I went ahead and performed the restore. So far it's going along as it had before.

  • Why does my ipod touch turn off and on when cropping pics

why does my daughter's ipod touch power off and back on when she is cropping pictures? she has only had it about 5-6months - any suggestions other than the apple store? they weren't too helpful before with another ipod and it is a long drive

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
Did you try everything above, including trying on another computer? If so then

  • Why won't my 5th Gen Ipod touch switch on?

I have had my 5th Gen Ipod touch for 1 week. This morning it wouldn't switch on, the screen just stays black. Neither itunes or my computer recognise it but if I plug it into a mains charger the apple logo flashes slowly. I have tried everything suggested in the forums. Is there anything else I can do? Or is it a trip to the apple store?

    Try:
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

  • IPod Touch goes off during reset/restore HELP!

My daughter iPod Touch is having issues. We've had to restore it once, and reload all the music, apps, etc. It was working fine then all of a sudden it is not working again. When we turn it on the Apple icon appears then it shows connect to iTunes, I plug it up to my computer and the software comes up saying it has detected an iPod that is in recovery mode, you must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. We go thru the restore/update process following the instructions it seems to be working fine then the screen on the iPod blinks off then comes back with the Apple icon. The computer screen then says "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9). I googled the error message and the explaination was that it lost connection thru the USB so I tried plugging it in every USB port I have available and it still isn't working. Has anyone experienced the iPod just blinking on and off like this, could it be a bad cord?

I do not know what you mean by "convert all the music that is on there to itunes". You can place/identify music on the computer and it may automatically find music on your computer. However, since it is a different computer, connecting the iPod to a different computer will result in the contents on the iPod being erased and replaced with that in the iTunes library the new computer. But yo have nothing really to lose.

  • Ipod Touch - turn off slider appears on startup and ipod won't play music

Hoping someone can shed some light on my problem.
The two problems I have are:
    1) the red Turn Off slider appears immediately on turning the iPod on
    2) when the play button is hit, it automatically pauses immediately.
    The problems in detail:
I have a 2nd generation iPod touch that was working fine until I updated to 3.1.2 firmware. It worked fine for a few hours and then the touch screen began behaving weirdly. First, it wouldn't allow me to slide the unlock slider across the screen, and then when it finally would let me, it basically accessed random apps and moved randomly between the app home screens. All of this was jerky and erratic and it looked as if my iPod had gone schizo!
I took the iPod to a Genius at the Apple Store, but when I arrived the problem had fixed itself (at least, the random accessing of apps etc), but I noticed that on startup, the red turn off slider would appear immediately. After canceling the slider, I went to play some music. Immediately after hitting play, the ipod paused. Repeated attempts yielded the same results. It won't let me press play or listen to any music, regardless of whether it was iTunes purchased, an audiobook, podcast or whatever. You hit the play button, it turns into a pause button for a split second and then reverts back.
I have tried restoring the iPod a number of times on my computer and other macs (I'm running 10.5.8 OS X and iTunes 9). I have also done a couple of option+restores, having downloaded previous firmware versions (3.0 first, then 2.2.1). Both attempts left me with an error message (20). I am going spare about this and would really appreciate any advice!
There is one thing that worries me. I have been told by the Genius I spoke with that the moisture indicator inside the headphone jack shows that it has been exposed to water. Would this result in the above described problems? Everything else seems to work fine. I have even managed to get YouTube back after fiddling with the date settings (i.e. setting the date to 2030 and then back). I want to either restore my iPod to a previous firmware version that worked or make the update that I paid for work the way it should!
    I appreciate any suggestions!

this happened to me. I figgered that after you play apps like games which r side ways causes this for example nba live lite it caused the problem to me same when the slider stays in one spot i see that apps cause this problem. i just figgered it out cause it happens allways after certian game apps or other app. To fix this test all the apps and see and delete the ones which cause this but not all apps which r side ways cause it. I hope this helps

  • My 3rd generation ipod touch shut off but now won't charge and is not recognized by my computer. All it shows is the black screen with the apple logo. It did this once before and after letting it sit for a day it charged. I tried this again but nothing.

  • My Ipod touch powered off on its own, when I turned back on, my 4000 songs were gone. Why?

Hi. Today I was preparing to use my Ipod Touch when all on it's own, it powered off. When I restarted it, it came back on and I noticed that some of the setting's(date & time) were no longer as they had been when I previously set them. Other settings were not changed and they were as I had set them. The worst thing of all that was changed was 4000 of my songs were not on the device. I do not know what happened to them. Can some one help me with answers for the device powering off on it's own, having to redo some setting's, while other settings were fine, and last but not least, 4000 of my songs were no longer on the device.
Please help me and I thank you in advance.
    Bryan

I think that unless someone professional knows how to do a recovery, I may be screwed. Unfortunately, I did not have any connection with Itunes. I bought the IPod Touch from a local seller. I bought the unit mostly because of the 4000 songs that were on it.(yes I sat with the unit for a hour or so jumping from one song to another. I felt even better about the purchase due to the seller having the same likes with regards to music. When the lost songs first occurred, I immediately started wondering if the seller had tricked me some how. I may never know. Hey I have one more question. When a IPod has 4000 songs on it then that means a large portion of the original GB  has been used correct? My capacity was 29.6 GBs with only 2.3 GBs left in availability. So if the songs took up the 29GBs and then the songs are deleted or lost, don't it mean that the 29.6GBs goes back to Availability?

  • Ipod shuffle switch off at the end of a playlist?

    Hi,
I would like my ipod shuffle to automatically switch off at the end of a playlist (or after a certain time).
Does anyone know if there is a solution to this? A firmware update or hack that solves this?
    Regards,
    - mg00se

It's a simple player.  That's the way it works.
If you can explain why (the situation when) you need your shuffle to play just one audio file, and then stop, maybe I (or someone else) can come up with a workaround to achieve what you need.
