My ipod touch was stolen, I'd like to remove all the content that was on it...

So my iPod touch was stolen. I've finally come to terms with the fact that I'll never see it again.
I'd really like to punish whoever stole it. I already changed all my passwords and billing information (it was stolen with my purse and I already changed my debit card). I signed into iTunes today and it says I have an outstaning balance. Whoever stole it must have tried to buy something before I changed everything. I'm already in the process of getting that taken care of.
So I looked at my apps and realised that I don't need them any more so I deleted them. It made a note that the content would be removed from ALL my devices, which got me thinking. Is there a way that I can remove all the music from my iPod as well? I dont want them listening to all my awesome music that I bought. I know that if I remove all my music from my library it will take it away from my iPod, but from my computer as well. Does anyone know if there is a way around this? Maybe if I do delete it from my library but get it back somehow, like maybe saving it somewhere else? I know it's a little far-feched but I would feel a little better about some stranger using my iPod (that my brother gave to me as a birthday gift while he was away at the Navy) if they also didnt have access to all the music that he and I bought. Any sort of hints would really be appreciated.
Thanks =]

If you set up the Find My iPod service before the iPod was stolen, then if circumstances allow (the iPod is on, connected to WiFi, and the thief hasn't restored the iPod or otherwise disabled the service) you could wipe the device. If you didn't set up the service, though, then there's nothing you can do.

That only happens when you sync the iOS device to your computer. It does not remove anything from a non-connected iPod. So there's no need for you to remove your music, nor your apps, from iTunes on your computer since doing so has no effect on the stolen iPod.

    - Reboot the computer
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • If I buy an ipod touch in America will there be any issues with the fact that I live in Ireland?

I want to buy an ipod touch in America as it will be cheaper but will there be any issues regarding charging it since I live in Ireland?

The iPod does not come with a wall charger, It comes with a cable that you connect to the iPod on one end and a USB port on the other. USB voltage is a standard 5 VDC nominal

  • Why won't my iPod touch show up in iTunes or Windows, tried ALL the support troubleshooter "fixes"

    Hi:
I've had this problem since first connecting the Ipod. It won't show in either iTunes nor in Windows explorer/my computer. I've also tried the same
setup on Windows 7, same PC a with a dual-boot with XP Pro setup. I've carried aout all the troubleshooting steps suggested here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 & re-installed all necessary software, latest versions. Can't find any conflicts on PC.....anybody got any suggestions?
    BTW iPod is 3rd. generation.

It turns out that I had to reinstall iTunes from scratch. I got the tip from
iTunes: How to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Earlier
I'm 95% sure it had to do with me installing Xcode 4 to get the "FileMerge" utility for some other development effort totally unrelated to Xcode.
    Regardless, it's working again.

  • How do I Sync two songs to my ipod with out syncing my entire library and keeping all the song that are curantly on my ipod PLZ HELP SOMEONE

my computer crashed and i lost all of my songs. i got some of them back but i can't get some others back. i have these awsome new songs i want on my ipod but i can't sync becuase that will delete all of the other song that i clould not recover from my i pod. how do i sync the two awsome songs on to my i pod with out syncing anything else and keeping all of the non recoverable songs on my ipod? someone PLZ HELP

    Unlikely to be possible.
The iPhone/iPod Touch is designed to only sync to one computer at a time.
What you are attempting to do is sync to a 2nd computer, even though it is likely the exact same computer.
The only option that might be possible is using the manually manage music on this device option.

  • I have my itunes library on my desktop pc.  I'm traveling for the summer and would like to have all the content on my laptop as well.  What is the fastest way to do this?

I downloaded itunes on my new laptop, but I cannot seem to find any of my content (music, movies, books...).  I would like for my itunes library to be available on both computers (desktop pc and laptop pc).  IS THIS POSSIBLE???
I've tried homesharing, but nothing shows up.  Also, I'm assuming once I leave home with the laptop, the content wouldn't be available.
There is probably a simple solution but I can't seem to figure it out in a crunch...Please help!

Works fine in Windows - copy your entire iTunes library to an external USB drive, plug this into your laptop, start iTunes while holding down the shift key and then select the iTunes library on the external drive.  Alternatively you can can repeat the copy process from the external drive to your laptop.  Once you have the duplicated libraries Microsoft's SyncToy tool does a good job of keeping the content of the different libraries in sync.  You can also copy over a network but unless your library is small this can be very slow.  I've used this method for years so that I can have the same library content at home (master), at work, and on the road.  One point to note is that this only works if you set iTunes (via Edit > Preferences > Advanced) to keep iTunes media folder organized and copy files to iTunes folder.  Other thing is to make sure you exit from iTunes before copying/synchronizing the library, as otherwise the iTunes library files (.itl and .xml in Windows) may be inconsistent with content (everything in iTunes\iTunes Media).

  • I am adding songs to my ipod touch from my itunes library and a lot of the songs that i tried to add are faded on my ipod and will not play. it is like they weren't added to my ipod even though i can see it is there.

The songs will play in my itunes library but they won't transfer onto my ipod correctly. For some of the congs, I just have to locate the file and readd the song to itunes, but a lot of the songs, I don't know what the problem is.

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

  • I am copying audiobooks on CD to the iTunes, so that I can send them to my iPod, however I do not know how to keep all the disks that comprise a book ( sometimes up to 18 disks ) organized so that they are recognized as part of abook and played in sequenc

I guess I asked the question in the title, anyway one more time:I am copying audiobooks on multiple CDs to Itunes so that I can sync them to an Ipod and listen to them, how do I keep the multiple disks inone folder under one book title and how do I keep the tracks from intermingling with the tracks from another disk?  EXAMPLE: I just downloaded one book, consisting of three CDs and I see the Track o1 information from each CD in sequence followed by three Track 02, instead of all tarcks from the first CD followed by the tracks of the next CD etc.

Thank you, I read that lengthy procedure before I asked the question.
I have no way of following all of those steps successfully since I am about butterfingered a sthe last dinosaur and will make every  mistake in the world and get frustrated with  something that SHOULD be simple.
I have the three disk autobook showing in iTunes library as one title , I had to  enter the dat amyself since it was not listed on the internet data base, All entries for all tracks match and I have indicated  the disk number  as  one, two or three of three as indicated.
Yet when I sync the iTunes to the iPod I am being presented with each individual track listed in the Audiobook Menu.
I am using the latest version of iTunes and a iPod Classic 160G-- that I purchased three days ago purposefully for the converting of the audiobooks to a portable device since the Library of Congress  ( NLS BARD ) books are formatted differently and the player is bulky.
Does anybody hav eany other ideas?
Does anybody have an e-mail address for Apple,  preferably iTunes folks?
This is a handicap accessability problem since my wife cannot see and depends on these audio books.
Obviously I will try that link to that Chapter and Verse site and see what I can do.
Thank you for your quick response

Hi...My Ipod Touch was recently stolen. In order to help the local police deptartment I need to supply a seria number for the Ipod. Of course, I did not wrtie down the serial number, but I have used he device on my Itunes account. My question: Is there a way to retreive the serial nuber of my Ipod touch from my Itunes account? Thanks you all....

    Yes. See bold below
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • HT204053 my ipod touch  was stolen

Hi , Unfourtuntaly my Ipod touch was stolen when I went to get my 1993 corvette detail. The guy who stole it has been hacking into my google account. I have two ipad and back them up with icloud, unfortuntly I did not with the ippod touch. I did have the serial number once before from a apple assoicate. I also was able to track down some of the place they been by looking at my google history. I di not have any more details now. I did contact the owner of the shop, which i think it might have been him as well. I also called the police and told them where the ipod has been and where it last place to be at and had the serial number then and I told him I would like for him to go get it. He called the shop owner to work things out with me . he chose not too. and now I do not have the serial number. What can i do? Sincerly Karen aka Harmony4jc

First change your Google account / Gmail password. Go here:
    https://www.google.com/settings/security
Sign in with your Google ID and password, and change your password. You will need to change your Google password in all the devices that use it already - your computers and iPads for instance, so don't forget the new password.
While you are there consider adding a secondary contact email and / or a phone number for Google account verification also.
That will prevent the thief from using your Google account, assuming he didn't change your password already. That would be bad.
Your iPod's serial number, while useful for the police report to establish ownership, is not useful in determining its location. Only iCloud can do that, assuming it was enabled it in your iPod Touch.
If you are absolutely certain the shop stole your iPod, or even failed to properly secure your Vette and its contents while it was in their care, then file a claim in small claims court. The burden is on you to prove they stole it, but if the shop owner suspects you are right he will settle with you. He may even fire the scumbag who stole it.
Don't forget that comprehensive auto insurance policies generally cover the car's contents as well, but the reimbursement might only reduce your deductible amount.
    Good luck!
