My iPod touch will not come on just a black screen

my ipod touch will not turn on,

Make sure the device is plugged in to the charger for at least 10 minutes before trying to power on. If that doesnt work try a hard reset on the device, hold in the home button and the power button until the Apple shows on the screen.
Thanks

  • Ipod touch will not turn on past the black apple screen

my ipod is an older gen (not sure which-before they added the camera) adn it will not turn on past the black screen with an apple. i have tried holding the home and lock button for 10+ seconds. i have also tried charging it haha.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Gen 4 iPod touch will not come back to life from recovery mode. Plus: going to Apple store, in Japan?

    Hi everybody,
I know this is probably a commonly asked question, but I've been looking through other threads and haven't found anything that works so far.
iPod touch died a while ago and gave me the "restore me" screen. (Showing a USB cord plugging into Itunes). But, when I try to restore it won't let me.
I'm running a MacBook 5,1 with OS X 10.6.8 installed. My iPod touch is 32 GB, model Model A1367, 4th Generation.
I know it's old but if there's a chance at resurrecting, I want to give the old guy a chance.
    When I click "restore."
Itunes says that it's "extracting software," then starts switching between "verifying ipod restore with apple" and "preparing ipod for restore." The Ipod itself displays an apple with a progress bar.
Then it says "the ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (40)"
I've tried a different internet connection and switching USB ports.
I also edited the "hosts file" as follows:
    # 17.151.36.30 gs.apple.com
I added this line, but I don't understand the hosts file very well. For example: no idea what the hashtag is for?
Let's see…I don't have any security software to speak of. I updated iTunes after I finally got 10.6.8 installed.
Also: I live in Japan! Japanese is not much of a problem, but I'm unsure of how much support I can get for an elderly American model. Is it difficult for an Apple stores to work with products that came from overseas, or is there that not much of a difference?
    Thank you!!

    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020, 1669.
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
The later means, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Ipod touch will not come off applelogo

help my 3rd gen ipod touch is stuck on the apple symbol. It does not respond to anything and i cannot connect it to my computer (it does not show up), I also cannot switch it on or off. It has been like this for 24 hours

    - Have your tried a reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
And then see if iTunes will see it so you can restore the iPOd?
    - Next, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the reset and restore.

  • 4th gen ipod touch will not come up on Itunes

I have a 32gb 4th generation ipod touch and whenever i connect it to itunes it says this ipod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started. I don't know what this means and i cannot sync my ipod anymore.

Type " Apple Mobile Device service" into the search bar at the top of this screen next to "Support" and see if the resulting articles help.

  • My ipad will not turn on; just a black screen with the apple symbol on it.

My nephew was on my IPad then I just frozed on him.  So he tried to reset it but it only shows a black screen and the apple symbol on the front.  The screen has been going off and on, like if it's trying to reset???  Is this a typical problem with the Ipad?  Can the ipad get virus'?

Before taking your iPad to your Apple Store, reboot it:  To reboot, hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will reset.  If that doesn't solve your problem, the next step would be connect to iTunes and restore your iPad.  If that fails, THEN you take it to Apple.

  • TS3274 Video app will not play videos just a black screen

I have downloaded videos on my iPad. I press the video app and all I get is a black screen. I have turned off plus restarted the iPad STILL I get nothing. What welsh is there to do? Thanks

I have been having this same problem since the update. Are you running No-Script by chance? That is what was causing me an issue with embedded videos like on Vevo on Youtube, or youtube videos on news sites which would give me "An error has occured" message. Even if I allowed all scripts on the page, or even globally, the video would always return that error. By disabling NoScript, I was able to watch videos again on all of the sites I was having a problem with.
I tested this on another computer with Firefox 3.5. Videos worked fine as long as NoScript was allowing their host (youtube.com, etc) Seems like there is some sort of issue with NoScript and Firefox 3.6.15.

Error 11 is a strange one...if you search the discussions for error 11 you will get a number of hits but none with a real resolution other than getting the iPod to restore, which you have done.  And one person indicates this does not appear in the support data base...already found that out.
If you have restored, have a backup and can restore from that, you might try the update again, or wait for the next update whenever that comes out.
Not a very satisfactory answer but if it is working again...
