My iPod Touch will not power on. charger is plugged in but the screen is blank.

Hello Dennisom,
The troubleshooting detailed below can help get your iPod Touch to charge.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • My iPod touch will not power up and is not recognized by my comptuer anymore

Good afternoon, my ipod touch (4th Gen) will not power up and is not recognized by my computer anymore. I have attempted to restore but that did not work. I have also charged for several hours. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have already tried that as well and unfortunately it did not work.

  • My Ipod touch will not connect to itunes. It only connects to the computer, nothing else. I have tried everything that I can, but itunes still wont recognize it. I even checked the printers and drivers and it stated that my Ipod is now a digital camera.

I am not sure what I should do anymore, and I dont have the money to buy a new Ipod. Can anyone help me with this problem?

    Assuming a PC start here:

It is normal for the computer to recognize the iPod as a camera since thatis how one gets photos and videos off the iPod.

  • IPOD touch will not power up. Any suggestions as to the cause?

My daugher's IPOD has decided to not power up. I'm afraid i'm not an expert on IPOD versions (however I know that it is not the current generation). it was purchased in mid 2010, just before the current version came to market.
Until today not a problem. Now nothing. We have tried leaving the unit on extended charge (both via USB on PC and wall charger with different cables) - nothing. It does not even show the battery charging symbol.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Kind regards

    Hi Illaass,

  • My 4th gen iPod touch will not power on, will not charge anywhere, and is not recognized as plugged in by iTunes. This is irritating, as a friend had given it to me in perfect working condition because she got a new 5th gen iPod Touch.

I just got this 4th-gen Touch from a friend because she got a new 5th-gen. when she gave it to me, the 4th-gen was in perfect working order, and I haven't used it since she gave it to me. I had put it in sleep mode and put it on my dresser, wher it has sat without being messed with for two weeks. Now, all of a sudden, it won't power on, it won't charge no matter WHERE i plug it in to charge, and not even a hard reboot has worked. My computer will not even recognize that it is even plugged in. There is no red low battery symbol displayed, nothing to make it seem as if it is charging, and, if it is charging, no response is evoked from it when I tap it, or push any buttons. The warranty on the thing has expired, and I really need to find out what is wrong with it and get it fixed. Can ANYBODY HELP ME?????????  if somebody can point me in the right direction, or even help me get it physically fixed, i am willing to give MAJOR points, and it would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't you already post something similar:
Yesterday, I went and bought a refurbished 3rd-generation iPod touch, with a warranty for needed repairs in the future. When I went home after buying it, I plugged it into my computer to start charging. I plugged it in, and the battery in the iPod exploded, and now it won't power on period, even when it is plugged in or docked. I bought a warranty to go with the iPod because I figured that I was probably going to drop it, and then need it repaired. But Apple cannot even find the purchase record on file from where I bought the AppleCare warranty on it, so now I am stuck with what is now basically a paperweight. What should I do?
    iPod touch, iOS 4
And would this be the same iPod with the fried battery?

  • My ipod touch will not power off

After I updated the version of iTunes, I cannot power off the iPod touch (4th gen).  I manually reset it (through the settings/general/reset).  It will NOT allow me to reset by holding power and bottom button.  When I hold those two simultaneously, it turns on voice control.

    - Let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch will not turn on or charge, and there is NO WAY to find the serial number to sort it out

Does anybody know what I can do in this situation?
I've had the ipod touch for over 3 years, was given as a gift, has never been badly damaged or anything.
It just won't charge at all -  I have tried leaving it plugged into the computer for hours, trying different cables. I left it plugged into the wall overnight, and still the dead battery icon is the only thing that comes up.
I have tried resetting and restarting it but nothing's happened. I've tried contacting Apple for support but they can't do anything without my serial number - which is too faded on the back of the product to make out. Obviously I can't find the serial number on the device as it won't turn on, I don't have any packaging for it left, and it won't connect to iTunes either. I've also looked at my devices in iTunes to try find it but it's not there.
Basically, I've tried pretty much everything the internet has suggested and it's not getting me anywhere.
I have no idea why this is happening and right now I'm at a deadend so please let me know if you have any further advice you can offer. Thank you!
