My ipod touch won't switch on, what can i do?

i bought an ipod touch 3 days ago in portugal, i charged it today for the first time for about 8 hours and then i took it out to listen to it and it doesn't switch on.. i have tried doing everything such as restarting, and it still doesn't work. what can i do ?

Hi
Firstly was the ipod sealed in the wrapper untouched ?
If the answer is yes, then what you need to do is hunt for the customer support number on the apple store web site.
Have patience because it took me a while to find a number to call.
Or you can ring the first number you find and ask to be transfered.
Explain to them the problem,
If the ipod is less then 14 days old since you bought it from a store, then you are entitled to have it replaced, they will sort a courier to pick it up.
But chances are if you didnt buy it from a registered stockist, it wont happen
If not dont worry, you are covered by warranty, they will send a courier to pick up your ipod and have it fixed,
Chances are they cant fix it so they will send you a brand new one.
I had the same problem, it seems that the first models they kicked out had a few hardwear faults.
Hope this helps Red

  • My ipod touch won't switch on...

I've had a ipod touch 4th generation for months now, but this morning my ipod switched itself off (even though i had enough battery life). I've tried switching it back on and i'm not having any luck, i've connected it to the computer and nothing happens. I've also tried to reset it with the reset hole, and still nothing is happening. Can someone please help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My safari won't switch off - what can i do?

i opened a page which should have allowed me to download a mock TOCFL exam (that's the standardized chinese exam in taiwan), but instead i just got a page of gibberish and since then skype won't let me close it, also while closing tabs there's no longer an x to click, instead i have to right click and then close it that way. anyone know what's going on here? also since safari won't switch off, i have no way of trying to deinstall and then reinstall it...any suggestions?

Select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar, then select Safari and press return. Do the same with Skype.
Run Software Update and install all available updates.
Reinstalling system components is rarely the solution to any problem, and certainly not to this one.

  • IPod Touch accelerometor doesn't work, what can I do?

When I turn my iPod Touch on Safari or Albums, my screen doesn't turn, what can I do?
    Thanks

First thing to consider, are you turning holding it vertically or horizontally when you turn? It has to be more or less horizontal for it to work.
If it still doesn't work, setup an appointment with an Apple Genius to test it some more, and more than likely get a new one.

  • My ipod touch won't turn on! Can I send it to apple for repair or exchange even if i don't have warranty

My ipod touch 2g/3g won't turn on it was working perfectly fine until i dropped it and the screen cracked. When I picked it up it still turned on and work perfectly fine but after a week or two some reason it wasn't working. Now I am wondering if I can send it to apple for exchange or repair?

You can have it repaired/replaced, but you will have to pay.
Call Apple or set it up online

My notifications werent coming in. My home button does not work so makes it worse. What can i do? Any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

    or

    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:

    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella

  • My ipod touch has been stolen. What can I do about it?

My ipod touch has been stolen. Can I report it? How can i track it to get it back or something?

Call the cops, change your passwords, call your home owner's insurance agent to report the theft (Insurance MAY cover your loss...), buy a new iPod 'cause your's is long gone...
And FMP is worthless for locating an iPod.  FMP uses wireless router locations, so if your router is not registered, or the location data was not properly reported, FMP will say your iPod is in BFE (Bum F#$% Egypt) or some such place.
    Time to move on.....

iTunes never displays the iPod in the left pane?
iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
    1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Manage"
    4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
    +Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
    5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
    6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
    7. Close "Computer Management"
    8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
    9. Reconnect your iPod.
