Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I have been without mu IPhone 4 since yesterday now as I tried to do the IOS6 update and since then it has messed up my phone and I am unable to access any of it's functions as it is locked on the update screen.
My phone was bought through Vodfone and have been on their network ever since, never had any problems like this.
It prompts me to connect to ITunes and when I do it will not go any further as stating 'No sim card is inserted in the IPhone you are trying to activate'. Well there is a sim in there and I have removed it and reinserted it on many occasions today. I am also not trying to activate my phone as all I did was try to the update which I was prompted to do in my setting!
I have seen many people on the net today with the same or similar problems but as yet I am to find a solution!

Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -
Can anyone help? This was a birthday present for me and it's only about a year old.
Connect it in recovery mode using the instructions in the Apple support document below. This will allow you to bypass the passcode.

I got mine (2 weeks ago) 64GB WiFi+3G (Verizon) from the apple store online
I didnt have to do anything to it, turned it on, activated it, got it on my home network then I signed up for the 3G data service, it works where ever I happen to be. (if there is an unknown WiFi connection available it asks me if I want to join before it continues to connect to the 3G when I am surfing or getting e-mail)
do you have an Apple Store close enough to travel to?

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help

I have been told by two different AT&T stores to plug my phone into iTunes and it will accept it, and give me instructions to restore my phone. However, each time I plug it in, iTunes says that it can't access my phone because it's locked. What am I supposed to do now?
Looks like your iPhone is disabled because of incorrect passcode. You will have to use recovery mode to restore the phone. Follow this link for details on how to perform restore in recovery mode.

The problem is your friend's music does not belong to you. It is owned by your friend.
I'm afraid you cannot do what you are trying to do. Restoring the iPhone is what you would have to do.
In the future, put your music on the computer and transfer it to the iPhone, not the other way. -
I want to upgrade my phone to the new software and it says that I have purchases from my phone not added to my itunes library, so when I go to the songs they are all grayed out and I cannot download. So please help me.
Best route would be to shutdown the computer and restart from cold.
Make a secure backup of your Songs.
Uninstall iTunes.
Install the latest version of iTunes. -

Look under entries by velocius, who tracked down the problem to the 10.6.8 socket (/usr/libexec/cups/backend/socket) and also the later entry where he posts a link to the old 10.6.7 socket file that works. (The first link posted has the new 10.6.8 file and won't help). After replacing the socket file, reboot.
