My iPod Video is not recognized by my computer

I've tried every little thing posted and every article about this subject. *I would like to know if there is a way to restore the iPod to its original configuration and software without being recognized by any computer.* I've tried about 10 different PC's and the only thing I get is the message that it's charging but no connection with the computer or iTunes at all. I mean, I really tried everything that is posted.

No, it needs to be recognized.
You've tried another cable? Is the iPod still within warranty?

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

  • My iPod classic is not recognized by my computer or iTunes

My iPod is not recognized by my computer or iTunes. It worked fine a few months ago but now it doesn't even sync. I tried everything from turning it on/off, reinstalling iTunes, checking the connectivity issues and etc. After going through the connectivity test the only thing I found odd was that it said that the iPod classic running firmware 1.1.2 is not connected. Could that be the issue? And if so, how can I get that firmware running again?

I have the same issue with my ipod classic, and have gone through these steps. However, when i come to the step where it says to reinstall: "
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab.   iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you. "
there is no ipod listed in the source list to check for any updates under the summary tab. Itunes just DOES NOT see the ipod at all. And this is where I am stuck....further instructions PLEASE!!! Thank you....

  • Ipod shuffle is not recognized by any computer or itunes

I have a first gen. ipod shuffle. It does not show up in Windows or Itunes on two different computers. The original problem was that it would not skip to the next song. I was going to reset or restore it, but I can't because neither computer (dell) that i own recognizes the shuffle. Help anyone?

I have downloaded that utility but can not use it, as
when I plug the shuffle into the USB port, it is not
recognized by either computer I am using. I can not
reset or restore, because in order to do that the
computer would have to know the shuffle is plugged in
and it doesnt. I have tried this on two different
computers and get the same result, so I dont think
its a computer issue, its an ipod issue. I also used
to be albe to play the shuffle on the Xbox 360 and
    now can not.
Just as a check, did you actually follow the THESE directions...EXACTLY?
    Using iPod shuffle Reset Utility
    1. Quit all running applications on your computer.
    2. Open the iPod shuffle Reset Utility.
    3. Connect iPod shuffle to a USB port on your computer. Do not connect iPod shuffle to a USB port on your keyboard or other non-powered USB hub.
    4. Click the Restore button. If prompted, enter an Admin user name and password.
    5. The restore process will start.
    6. When it is complete, quit iPod shuffle Reset Utility and open iTunes to sync music to your iPod shuffle.

  • IPod 80 gb not recognized by my computer

when i sync my iPod 80 gb,an error message shows that it is not recognized by my computer, how can i fix this?

I have the same problem, on the same iPod model, and it is not the USB cord or port, because my older iPod Mini still syncs just fine. I have tried most of the steps offered in that article - including the 5 R's, deleting registry limits and changing the power management settings for the USB Root info in my Device Manager.
Nothing has helped. Has anyone had luck solving this issue?!

  • IPod Video 5G Not recognized on MacBook Pro 17 Intel

My Ipod video 5G is not showing in iTunes or on my desktop. Not showing in System Profiler either. The ipod does charge however. I'm frustrated and stumped. I've tried the 5Rs a number of times but can't even get to the "Restore" portion. iPod works fine when not connected to my MacBook Pro. I also have a Nano and a 3G ipod (firewire) that both work fine and are recognized and update without a problem.
Anyone have an answer to getting the iPod video recognized....? Apple?

  • IPod Touch is not recognized by Windows Computer or iTunes

All the USB ports are fine and the cable work perfectly. When I plug in my Ipod it shows that its charging but the computers dont do anything.
I checked devices and even fiddled with some third party softwares that might be blocking it but nothing is working.
my Ipod, Itunes, computer, and antivirus software is all up to date. I tried reseting my Ipod and computer and reinstalling Itunes.
I also uninstalled itunes removed all components and reinstalled still not recognized.
I tried a second computer and have the same issue.
Any Suggestions what to try next?

Try a different charging/docking cable.  If that does not work then you may have a problem with the docking connector in the iPod itself...

  • IPOD VIDEO 30GB not recognized by iTunes or My PC

So I have this ipod that I'm trying to revive. I'm not even sure which generation it is, but it's a 30GB ipod classic and I bought like in 2005. Here's the thing, this ipod has been in my drawer for years and when I turn it on it says "Use itunes to restore", but itunes wont recognize it, and it won't appear as a disk in my pc. I plug it into the computer and it says do not disconnect but nothing happens, BUT, when I use the "menu and center button at the same time" trick while it is plugged in until the apple logo appears, it shows up in my pc as REMOVABLE DISK F: (an empty one though)
I right click it to format it but by this time the "use itunes to restore" message has appeared again and the ipod either disappears from my pc or it says "the device has been disconnected".
Also, when I open the computer's device manager it appears as APPLE IPOD USB device, which gives me some hope, but it doesn't show any of its properties. (It says - for each characteristic. I mean, Disk -, Type -, Status -, etc)
Finally, when I leave it plugged in for a while just waiting, my computer freezes completely until I plug it out.
    Any tips?? Thanks!!
    And greetings from Venezuela

did you try all those steps:
Disconnect the device from the computer.
Save a screenshot by pressing the Home button and the Wake/Sleep button at the same time (the screen should flash briefly). Note: Taking screenshots and saving images on iPod touch requires iOS version 2.0 or later.
Reconnect the device to the computer.
Open the Device Manager in Windows as follows:
Windows XP: Click Start > Run. In the resulting dialog type devmgmt.msc and press Return on the keyboard.
Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click Start. In the dialog, type devmgmt.msc and press Return on the keyboard. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".
Expand all the sections labeled below (not all sections may be listed):
    Imaging Devices
    Other Devices
    Portable Devices
    Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Look for the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. This entry should be called Apple iPhone,Apple iPad, or Apple iPod.
