My Ipod video is restarting! WHY!

Ive had my ipod for about 2 days and it will restart when I am going through my songs (mainly) - by restarting I mean going back to the Apple Icon and then going to the first page you see when you turn on the ipod. But i really want some help because i ordered this off Amazon and I really don't want to have to send it back. And I have restored, reinstalled itunes and have tried putting songs on it from another computer, my other computer has alot of the same songs so i was wondering if a corrupt song or something would do this? Thanks.

1. You either overloaded your contacts or it got erased when restoring
2. If you were logged in icloud, then go to your contacts and log each contact

  • Ipod video...why wont it work with it?

I find it strange that the nike+ software only works with nanos, ipod video came out after the first nano...when that nano work with the soft ware why doenst the video?! and are we sure, has someone tried the nike + software with the iPod video?!

This was likely done because the hard drive on an iPod video is much more vulnerable to being dropped and other hard impacts compared to an iPod nano's flash media.

The songs on my iPod Video 5th Gen now, were at one time on my computer, but have since been erased. Why can't I export the songs from my iPod back on to my computer? I have this same problem with my other devices (iPad 3rd Gen and iPod Nano 6th Gen). I am really frustrated now, because it seems as if I have to start all over again. This will be a royal pain in the butt! I don't understand why Apple makes this so hard and impossible to do this. Please help, anybody!!

  • ITUNES CAN'T READ MY IPOD BLACK VIDEO 30G! WHY?

My computer was running slow and I had itunes and photoshop open. And then next thing I know, my itunes stopped responding and then my photoshop cs2 was responding. So I tried to eject my ipod, and then restart my computer. It wouldn't do it for ages. So I gave up, and turned my mac off, and then then when I loaded it back up, it said.... ITUNES CANNOT READ THE CONTENTS OF THE IPOD. and I've got all my music on it and video and it's all wiped. Which all my music and video's are on my home IMAC, which is back in the UK. I am in South africa for another 3 months meaning no music and no videos. Is there any way of retrieving my music back- please?
There is another query. When I plug my ipod in, it still recognises the name of the ipod. And when itunes loads up, it says the message above. But if I don't click that and actually click on the iPod icon on my desktop, I have a 'faded out' folder called- iPOD CONTROL. which if I follow it brings me to a list of audio files which is my music but random file names like WENM.wav etc. So I know the music is on there. Is there anyway of restoring my iPod with out formatting it? There must!! Please help.

It was worth a shot... anyway, since you can see the music on the iPod via Finder, you might want to consider moving that music from the iPod to your hard drive, listen to the file to determine the name of it, put it into iTunes, restore the iPod and then sync the iPod. You can also seek third party software that might be able to recover the files from the iPod, but given the issue you're having, that might not be an option.

  • Alphabetic Font  on Scroll **NOT** on  iPod video, why?

I got my Mother-in-law a iPod nano and after loading all her favorite tunes onto it and checking all the music had loaded I noticed that when you scrolled through the albums list it would display in large font A-B-C... informing you where you were in your library. This is great but why don't I have it on on my 30g iPod video? Can anyone help?

I have an iPod video and the alphabetic font on scroll that you are talking about works on mine. Are your iPod and iTunes updated. Using iTunes 7?

  • Ipod video keeps trying to restart.. HELP!

hopefully someone can help me fix my ipod without deleting all my files, which i cannot download agian...
i tried to change my ipod video to the ipod classic, after loading the classic firmwire in ipodwizard, my ipod has been trying to reboot over and over,it just keeps starting up and shutting off. can any body help me?
    thanks..

That solution works, I had actually posted my problem with my ipod continuously trying to restart and never being able to restart. The other post's solution is correct, it will allow you to connect to your computer and itunes will recognize your ipod, restore it (yes you'll lose everything, I'm sorry and I know it stinks but it's the only thing I have found that works). The only issue I had with the solution was when I clicked restore on itunes it would say that the ipod can't be restored because of some unknown error 1429. So to go around this issue, go into disk mode connect the ipod to your computer, and it'll say that it needs to be restored. Once you click restore, immediately follow the same steps to put your ipod in disk mode to take it out of disk mode and your computer will be able to restore your ipod. I know the solution isn't the greatest because you lose your data but at least your ipod works again.

  • I'm losing files from my ipod Video 30GB!! why is that?

Please help me!! i'm so confused... i have an ipod video 30Gb... i have almost 27Gb of music in it... but some songs suddenly dissapear... i don't know why... yesterday i heard one of them but today i can't... when i connect the ipod to itunes it appears a funny icon next to the song...
    PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!
    it's my ipod broken?
do i need to take it to the apple service?

When i said a funny icon i mean an exclamation icon... like when you move the file to another folder and the itunes cannot find it... u know what i mean... that happens with the ipod... the itunes sometimes cannot find the file where it used to be... and then i have to uploaded again... when i try to play the song in the ipod the playlist goes to the song after that... it's very weird... can the ipod get infected with some virus ?

  • Ipod Video 30g wont turn on, any help why please?

So I have found this old ipod video I must have got when it first came out. It has been a while since it has been used, and it may be heavily damaged, I am not sure. But when I press any button it remains on the Apple loading screen, as in the dark background with a dimly lit apple logo. This ipod is way past any warranty, and I am trying to do a self repair to save some money. I already tried charging it no luck. I connected it to the computer and my computer never recognized it, I reset it (menu and select) no luck, put it in disc mode (pause/play and select) no luck. But the screen stays on at the Apple logo. Can anybody tell me how I can fix this problem or what is the cause of it. Thank you very much.
PS I am from Chicago so if anyone knows of any places that can help me for cheap let me know.

actually i tryed doing the thing where u hold put the usb cord into the ipod while holding the home button and i tryed to restore it and it came up with in error that said that its not eligible for the requested build. i dont have the newest version of itunes on my mac and i heard u need the newest version to get the newest software for the ipod touch and it said restore and UPDATE in the beginning so maybe thats the problem? idk plzzz someone help me!!
my last post has already been resolved so dont bother with that.

  • 30 GB Ipod Video not recognized by either Windows or Itunes

    Hi,
I purchased a new 30 GB iPod Video (5th generation) today to replace my old iPod photo. It's been charging for a few hours, but when I plug it into the computer there is hardly any recognition. Windows will make the "you plugged in a USB" noise but that's it. The iPod will not go into "DO NOT DISCONNECT" mode, nor will iTunes recognize the iPod.
iTunes is updated, and I tried many of the tips on the pages here. I've also tried to reset it by holding the menu and enter buttons, and it reset, but there was no recognition. I even tried toggling the hold switch back and forth a few times and I got noting.
I'm seriously perplexed, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adam

  • Known disk-mounting fault on iPod Video 80GB?

Is there a known disk mounting fault with the iPod Video 80GB?
I’m running iTunes Version 7.0.1.8 and have so far had two brand new 80GB iPod Video devices, purchased from a registered New Zealand reseller (TotallyMac.com).
Both iPods have successfully loaded my music library and have played perfectly, both on headphones and on my iPod hi-fi. However, when I subsequently plug the iPod into any of the USB 2 ports on my laptop, the iPod does not show up as a device in My Computer, File Explorer or in iTunes.
I’m running Windows XP, Service Pack 2.
The problem also occurs on a second PC – the iPod refuses to show as a device in My Computer, Windows File Explorer or in iTunes. However, it does show up in Device Manager, and the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon shows on the Windows status bar when the iPod is connected. Even so, when the iPod is safely ejected, the iPod screen continues to show ‘Do Not Disconnect’, so the only way to safely eject the iPod is to reset it on the iPod.
I’ve tried restarting the computer, putting the iPod into disk mode and so on. Unfortunately, none of the advice on the Apple website for iPods that refuse to mount helps me – because I can’t get the iPod to appear as a device anywhere on my computer, I can’t rename the Drive Volume (to another letter instead of ‘E:’) or restore the iPod to factory settings.
I can’t help thinking that Apple has created a ‘Catch 22’ situation by removing the iPod Updater option in iTunes 7 – none of the previous versions of iPod Updater is compatible with iTunes 7, meaning it’s impossible for people who have a Disk Mount problem to restore their iPods. If you can’t get the iPod to show up in iTunes, how are you supposed to restore the device or solve disk mounting problems?
There appears to be no other way to restore the device if you’re using iTunes 7.
Why isn’t there a ‘restore’ option in the iPod’s own diagnostics menu, some combination of click-wheel buttons that will allow you to reformat/restore the drive?
My previous (40GB) Fourth-Generation iPod mounts perfectly on both this laptop and another PC, suggesting it is the new iPods that are the problem. Also, as I said, the new iPod fails to mount on the second PC, supporting this theory.
Both faulty iPods have been set to ‘manually update’ and I also ticked the ‘Enable Disk Use’ option and removed the checkmark from ‘Automatically open iTunes’.
It would be good to hear from someone else who has experienced similar difficulties, as I’m by no means a new iPod user and this has both me and the Apple service technicians I’ve spoken to completely stumped. Is it a known problem and, if so, will it be dealt with in future iTunes updates…?

Try forcing the iPod into disk mode:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
And then see if you can change the Volume Drive Letter:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499
If nothing else works, you may want to give this a shot:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
Since you did say the iPod continues to show Do Not Disconnect after ejecting it, I'm thinking maybe there's something on your computer that's interfering with the iPod.
Also, when the iPod comes up in Device Manager, does it have any kind of warning on it? You may need to uninstall the iPod's drivers, and then restart the computer with the iPod attached to reinstall it. This may not be the case, though, since the iPod is still showing Do Not Disconnect while it's plugged in.
You may also want to make sure you have the iPod connected to a USB port directly on the rear of the computer, or try a different USB cable.
Also, you might want to try restarting the iPodService

  • Movie downloaded from itunes not playing on ipod video

I bought a movie off of itunes and downloaded it to my ipod video. But the movie won't play on my ipod. It plays perfectly fine on my computer. Why isn't playing on my ipod video? Is there something i have to do first before videos are able to play on my ipod?

Is it one film or all of them? I'm having a similar problem where this one film I accidentily deleted that used to play got reloaded and now plays fine on my computer but won't sync onto my iPod. Everything's checked off and ready to go on my computer, but when I sync the film simply isn't there.

  • Ipod Video to TV does not work :(

I just bought the iPod AV Connection Kit today, it came with the Universal Dock a RCA cable that connects to line out, but for some reason I have trouble displaying videos. It seems like my sound works but video does not show up on TV.
I tried changing setting on iPod to TV>ON still does not work, I tried S-Video still no picture. Can anyone help? Is my cord or dock defectetive? Thanks
    iPod Video   Windows XP

There is no "Photos" library in itunes, this is why its not listed in iTUnes source list. On the PC it just takes photos from the folder you tell it to to add to the iPod.
What you have to do is on the ipod, goto Photos>Slide show settings>TV Out and set it to "On" or "Ask" whichever you prefer.
On - This setting sends the signal/Photo to the TV screen and not on the ipod screen.
Ask - This setting means everytime on the ipod it will ask you (When you goto slide show) if you want to turn TV Out on or off

  • Please HELP, "iTunes has stopped working" error after connecting iPod video

People please help me out!  I have a Razer Blade gaming laptop with Windows 8 64bit.
I have an iPhone 5, iPad 2 and an iPod video (80GB).  I had some weeks from not connecting the iPod to my computer, but this morning that I did so I can upload some new music to it, iTunes just crash, I get the "iTunes has stopped working" error message when I connect the iPod video.  I do not have this problem with either the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2, when I connect these, iTunes works fine, once I connect the iPod, then all goes down
Procedures that I already tried and that were unsuccessful to solve the problem:
    Uninstall Quicktime
    Uninstall iTunes and reinstall
    Reset the iPod (several times)
    Delete TEMP files on computer
    Restart the computer (several times)
Use a different cable and a different USB port
The iPod is working fine, if I plug it to my car stereo or if I use it with headphones it works great, no problems nor errors.  My computer also identify the iPod as a hard disk, no error messages from Windows, it is just the freakin' iTunes that freezes everytime that I plug the iPod
PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I've searched forums on this particular issue but with no luck.
    Thanks very much!

It is only when I attempt to add a song to my iPod once plugged in that I receive the error "Itunes has stopped working" and forces me to exit the program, without the song being successfully transferred.
Do you have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" preference enabled for syncing to the iPod, laur?
If so, it's quite plausible that you've got the iTunes 10.1.0.54 bug and we need to get you updated to 10.0.1.56 as per the following document:
[iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3591]
