My ipod video isnt playing sounds wen im watching movies. .

when i convert the video file to my ipod vid and then put it on my ipod, there is no sound, why is this? please help

Neither iTunes nor QuickTime can convert MPEG-1/2 to MPEG-4 format with audio. MPEG-1/2 files are "muxed," or multiplexed. This means both the audio and video are on one track. iTunes (and QT) fail to see the audio, and only convert the video.
You'll need third party software to convert the videos...
Videora iPod Converter
MPEG Streamclip
Hope this helps.

  • My ipod video wont play sound through the headphone jack or the bottom connector

Hello everyone. I have an iPod Video 60GB (supports video output through the headphone jack). Which I believe was the last one before the iPod "classic".
Anyways awhile back it stopped outputting sound through the headphone jack, I assumed I had damaged the jack itself as commonly happens but it stopped outputting sound through the dock connector to my ipod speaker dock and my cars ipod connector. The clicker wont make any noise either.
When I tried to search for an answer to this problem years ago I couldnt find anything and knowing it would be out of warrenty I put it aside and forgot about it. Having searched again recently it seems as if this could be the audio processor or some component on the board coming loose? Has anyone outlined this problem with pictures and steps to repair it?
I *may* take it in and pay the $30 but I would much prefer to fix it myself. Thank you for any help with this.

Update: The model # is MA147LL. Not sure why my edit didnt take effect.

Ipod touch 4 i can no longer watch movies, transferred to the ipod, on videos app it simply says loading and then stops. On my ipad mini with older ios it still works. So how can I fix this I have tried converting videos into different formats but it will not work.
Is IOS 8 really appropriate with Ipod Touch 4, if the older Ipods do not have the capability then why are we prompted to install new operating systems.
    Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all videos and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • 1.1.3 - iPod Touch video podcasts play sound; only still image

For some strange reason, since getting the new update (but not the January update as I'm not going to pay £13 for that!) for my iPod Touch, video podcasts of trailers downloaded from Apple Trailers through iTunes play as sound files with a random frame from the video appearing as album art.
So if I turn my iPod Touch horizontal, the single image shows up at the end of Cover Flow as audio podcasts do when being played. However, there is no video at all. Normal videos play fine.
What the **** is going on?

Oh ... I'm so stupid. Sorry - when I wrote that they don't show up under VIDEO, I didn't actually check.
They are there and they do work. In fact, I think that as long as people like me remember which is which, having videos only play audio when played from the PODCASTS section is quite useful in some circumstances.
    I've learnt my lesson.
Now if only I could get that update for free ...

  • My ipod videos wont play on wmv

Im trying to edit and import videos from my ipod, but when played there is no sound and a black image on windows piece of crap movie maker.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Windows Movie Maker doesn't support video files from iPods, you will need to use some other software to convert it first.

  • Ipod video with no sound. help needed.

i recently bought an ipod video. i've been adding songs and pics for the last week or so, but haven't added videos yet. yesterday i had some videos already on my computer and i wanted to dowload them to the ipod. i imported the videos to my library and they played fine in itunes. however, when i tried to download them to my ipod, a message pops up that says this video cannot be played by this ipod. i've heard of this problem before and knew what to do: convert the format of the video under advanced options. then i took the converted video and dowloaded it to my ipod with no problem. then i tried to play the video. the video plays correctly but it has no sound at all. same thing in itunes. i've tried everything. any ideas.

You are in the iPod nano forum here, and you'll probably want to post this question in the Fifth Generation category, the correct location to post this kind of question. (you have a video iPod, not a nano).
Onto the problem. Read this Apple article: iPod plays video but not audio
Quicktime and iTunes don't convert "muxed" videos very well for an iPod. "Muxed" is a term referring to a multiplexed file where the video and audio parts of the file are both stored on the same track.
It ends up only playing the video and not the audio of the file.
This is probably your issue. Try using a third-party program that correctly converts both video and audio.
For example, check out Videora: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/

  • IPod video not showing sound, only image

I have movie files that are .mpg files. I just got my first iPod a few days ago, and found out that iPods don't play .mpg files. In iTunes, under "Advanced" there is an option to "Convert Selection for iPod" to convert the files into .m4v files. When I do this, however, the videos come through beautifully, but with no sound. Is there anything at all I can do about this? I have all these music videos that I would really like on my iPod. Is there any reliable software out there for iMac users that really converts files from .mpg to .m4v?

    Hi,
This causes a lot of confusion! You need to convert it to MP4 (which iTunes doesn't do).
Check out the guide "Converting Video for iPod - Mac & Window" here http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067
Or alternatively, there's a Complete Guide for Mac here http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/the-complete-guide-to-convert ing-video-to-ipod-format-mac/

  • Ipod Video 30Gb no sound music and video

Since two days I have a strange problem on my Ipod Video 30Gb.
On the display it seems that the tracks are playing or that the video is playing. But when I listen through the headphones I hear nothing. Even when I connect the Ipod to a dock or a dockspeaker nothing happens. I allready tried to reset the Ipod and I even installed it's software again but nothing helps.
The last thing I did before the problem occured was that I have upgraded my Itunes to version 8.0.0.35.
Please give me some suggestions how to fix this problem.

  • Connecting IPOD video to surround sound HELP PLEASE!

    Hi!
I have been trying to connect my ipod to my surrond sound system at home, but everytime I plug it in all it says is "Do not disconnect" and won't let me go to my menu to play songs. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I tried that but it didn't work... I need to get my ipod to not say "do not disconnect" in order to play from the menu.... does that make sense? It's plugged in correctly and is a brand new ipod so I'm not sure why it isn't working. I called apple, but since my surround sound is an RCA and not an apple device they can't help me....

  • 5G iPod doesn't play sound

I have a 5G 30GB iPod that just today stopped playing and sound. It still lets you scroll through the menus and also shows its playing a song, but you cannot hear anything. It won't play sound through the headphone jack, and I also have an Alpine CD Player with the iPod direct connect cable, and that does not work as well. I reset the iPod today and that did not do anything, and I also tried restoring it and that did not fix the problem as well. I contacted Apple support and found out it would cost $130 to fix my iPod, but the lady I talked to could not tell me what is exactly wrong with the iPod because she had never heard of this problem before. I'm basically looking to hopefully fix it myself since I dont want to shell out $130 to repair it, but probably will give in if I cannot fix this myself.

mine does the same thing...i got it replaced once under warranty and they gave me a "new" one which began to malfunction 3 months after i got it :\ It plays the music all staticy and when i took it in they told me nothing was wrong with it...but it doesn't play and ive changed the head phones and reset it and run all the diagnostic tests...needless to say im very dissappointed with apple right now! what makes it worse is when i took it in the ipod wasn't even registered to me which means they gave me someone else's ipod which had been replaced! but since it was out of warranty when i found out it was 140 to get a new one if they found something wrong with it. so idk but this is my 2nd 5G ipod and i think its a bug that is in all of them.

  • When I convert a .mov to iPod video format, the sound disappears

For some reason, I have a .mov file that loses its sound when I convert it to m4v. This doesn't happen on all .mov files, only a few. Any suggestions on things to check for/solutions?

What software are you using to convert the videos to iPod format?
If you are using Quicktime Pro, or iTunes 6.0.2 to do the conversion... then that is probably where your problem lies.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file. You'll end up with video and no sound.
You'll need to use some other software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
I think iSquint has become quite popular.

  • Burning ipod videos to play on dvd player

does anybody know a way or a free program i can download to burn the videos on my ipod to a dvd so i can watch it on a dvd player?
      Windows XP

Are you referring to purchased videos from the iTunes music store? If so, they cannot be burned to a DVD that will play in a DVD player.
They can be burned to a data DVD which will play on computers however.

  • IPod Videos stopped playing

    Hi all,
I've done a search on this and have come up with not very useful information. I have a 30 Gig iPod Video running the latest version of iTunes on a Windows XP platform. I've encoded my own videos (mp4 format, all the specifications in place, created with Quicktime Pro)and have uploaded them to my iPod via iTunes. Before the recent firmware upgrade (1.2.1), my iPod used to play the videos perfectly even if I chose them from the music playlist. Since I've upgraded, it's been giving me the "Now Playing" with the first frame snapshot album art and the timeline on the bottom and only playing the audio. I re-imported my videos via iTunes again (for some strange reason, some of them had to be converted because iTunes claimed they were not in the correct format), but everything was fine after that. Music is in the music directory, videos are in the videos... Until I plugged in my iPod at work with iTunes 4 running on my system. Now both music and video lists have all of my content listed on them, and when I try to play the videos, only the audio comes out. I've tried the "TV Out" fix, and set it to off, on and ask, but it won't do a thing. I don't want to have to reload all my songs and vids onto my iPod every time I plug it in at work. It's the only way I can charge my battery if it dies on me during the day. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Be sure to look at the Settings for Videos, on iPod.  From the main iPod screen, select Videos. At the bottom of the Videos screen, select Settings.  Make sure there is nothing unusual there, particularly in TV Out.
