My iPod Video Plays video for a while the freezes

Just got a question. I just bought an iPod 60gb 5th Gen. a week ago and I loaded up some videos in it. It seems that when I play the videos for about 5 mins it just goes to pause or freezes a while then when it starts playing again the sound does not come out, video still runs fine but no sound at all. Anyone has an idea of what is going on?

I'm having the same problem and I use QuickTime setting that they provide specifically for converting movies to .m4v format for the iPod. I think we should all return them to the nearest Apple store for a new replacement.

Green screens are almost always indicative of a video driver issue. Could you please post the contents of your "Display Devices" section after generating a DXDiag report?
What is a Dxdiag report and how do I run one?
I suspect you might have an out of date video driver. This FAQ can help you learn the steps required to update:

Finally, if the driver update does not help, try disabling hardware acceleration using the steps outlined here:

The ability to play a file in iTunes means that is is QT compatible -- not neccessarily iPod compatible.
If the message states that a particular file is not playable on the iPod, then the file is either in the wrong format or one or more parameters does/do not meet iPod compatiblity restrictions. For instance, a DivX MPEG4 video file with MPEG layer-3 audio would not be playable. Normally, it is a simple problem associated with video data rate limitations or failure to use a specific required profile for the format you are employing. In addition, movie content can sometimes "trick" the encoder and cause a momentary "peak" in the data rate that triggers iTunes to reject the file during sync operations.
If the message states that the iPod "generically" cannot play videos, then you do not have an iPod model with video capabilities.

Can 6th gen Ipod Nano play video on Precor Treadmill?

Many gyms offer Apple connectors on their machines like treadmills and elipticals. I've connected my IPad and watched video, but it's impractical on a treadmill, both due to size and too much vibration.
So, I'm considering the purchase of an Ipod Nano. I know that the 6th gen device lacks video support, but can you load video files onto the device via ITunes and then play the videos on the machines at the gym?
Our gym has two main models of treadmills:
Precor 885, and
Matrix 7XE, which also has Nike+ support for Ipods.
Please let me know which Ipod Nano is best for my needs.

The 5th Generation can do video, or the iPod Touch or iPod Classic. The 6th Generation Nano won't work for your needs.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11. According to the System profiler the CD/DVD drive is a "PioneerDVD-RWDVR-112D." When I compare the information under this heading, the only unusual difference from my iMac is that the G5 reads "Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)." My iMac reads "Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)."
Under the System Preferences the options are set to "Ask what to do" when a blank CD or DVD is inserted. Music CD set to open iTunes, Picture CD set to open iPhoto, Video DVD set to open DVD player.
Do you have any suggestions?

if yes if this coems again could you just stop screen share and try it again.

The iPhone 4, unlike iPod, doesn't ask you to set for PAL or NTSC. In fact, in the SETTINGS/Video menu it only asks if you want to "Start Playing From Beginning", "Closed Captioning" and "Home Sharing". I was surprised it had no settings like the iPod at all.

ITunes 7 and new iPod not playing video

OK here's my other problem:
I have a new iPod, and have downloaded iTunes 7 and Tiger.
I've downloaded a video from iTunes (Michael Jackson's Thriler).
But when I double click on it in 'purchased', it won't play. Nothing happens, no icon, nothing.
Then when I restarted I got a message after iPod syncing that said 'Thriller' not transferred because iPod cannot play it'.
Any idea why?! I thought that's what I paid for...!

I am having a similar problem. I downloaded a song from iTunes a few minutes ago, but when I went to listen it, only part of the song plays. The song is abut 2:50 in length, but skips to another song in the playlist at about 1:30. It seems to pick the song it skips to rather randomly, fwiw!
Can I try downloading the song again, or will iTunes charge me for it a second time?

My new ipod nano plays videos but there is no sound, why?

My new iPod nano that plays videos has no sound going along with them. It's not a problem with the iPod, (I don't think) because the sound won't play on iTunes either, yet my music in playing just fine both on my ipod nano and in itunes. I dragged and dropped the video into itunes then I converted the video then used the convert selection for ipod. Why is there no sound? Is there something I am doing wrong? My 30gb ipod did worked just fine when I did it that way but my new ipod nano won't. Is there something else I have to do before I can watch and listen to videos?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.

80gb iPod not playing videos

Here's a problem i could find an answer to after looking through these forums and all the apple info.
just got the new 80gb ipod and bought a few videos of the itunes music store. now two of these videos play for about two seconds then begin to skip or lag ? The thrid actually has a higher total bite rate then the first two.
Now i'm thinking that it would make sense for videos from the itunes store to play on the ipod.
Anyone have an ideas.

I have a similar problem. Bought three videos from the Apple Store and all three of them skip in different places - the pictures freezes, the music continues fo a few seconds and then the picture catches up. All three of the downloads can't have a problem, so it must be a problem with the iPod itself.

IPod Nano playing Videos?

I know about iPod Linux...that's a risk I wn't take. Is it possible apple could release and iPod updater allowing the Nano to play videos? I'm getting a Nano for my birthday and i'm learing everything I can.

Apple, in my opinion, will probably release something similar to the mini, but the odds of FUTURE nanos playing video isn't bad, as many others have small video players; But I don't think iPod updater will ever let the current gen nano play videos.

Video iPod Stopped Playing Video After Upgrade to 1.2

Hi everyone.
I upgraded mine and my boss' 5th Generation iPods (both are 60 Gig) to version 1.2.
Mine works fine, but he is getting on an airplane and his video stopped working after a few minutes of watching a movie.
Aside from reloading the software (which isn't an option at this point as he is on the plane) does anyone have any suggestions?
Has this happened to anyone else?
I can tell him to reset it, but any other ideas??

Now I can no longer view any of my videos (which I purchased online from Apple Music Store) on my iTunes...AND after upgrading to V1.2... now they won't download into any of my 3 iPods either!
(error msg: Video X was not copied because the video format was not supported by your iPod)...these Apple-supplied Pixar videos are in MPEG4 (.m4V format)?
