My Ipod was stolen,is there a deadman switch ?

Is there a way to protect my account or some kind of deadman switch that messes it up . I don't want to find it ,or find who took it.I just don't want my info or purchased stuff available to the thief.

You can erase/wipe the iPod only if you had ALREADY set up the FindMyiPhone feature and wifi is on and some other conditions are met.  Apple can't help you.

hello, my ipod was stolen, is there any options to find it by wi-fi??

Find my iPod Touch (iOS 4.2.1 and greater) - http://images.apple.com/ipodtouch/built-in-apps/find-my-ipodtouch.html - has to be enabled before device is lost.  It also requires the device be on and connected to registered WiFi network, and not having been restored by the finder (if it was really stolen then the thief has probably restored it).  If you have activated the "Find My" feature, go to https://www.icloud.com or use the Find My iPhone app - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8
Setting up iCloud (requires iOS5) - http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html - includes activating the 'Find My' feature.
Frankly in the case of a stolen iPod this almost never works. Report it to the police.  Change passwords on accounts. Go shopping for a new iPod.

  • My iPod was stolen, is there anything I can do?

My iPod touch was stolen at school a few days ago and I do have the FindMyiPhone app on it, but no luck tracking it. I've sent messages to the iPod about contacting me if found, and I've also locked it from my friend's iPhone, but it keeps saying that since it's not connected to the internet, it can't locate it.. and that the messages won't be seen until connected to the internet. Is there any other way that I can track it with it's serial number? Or anything else that I can do with the app? PLEASE help!
Oh and is there any way that I can get insurance on my ipod... or any way that I can find out whether I have any or not?

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  If the device has significant personal informtion, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • HT4061 My ipod was stolen, is there a way of getting it back using the cerial number or other security information?

Someone has stolen my ipod. I do not have it with me, but is there another way to find the cerial number or another piece of information i could turn into the police? is there anyway of getting it back, Becuase i hav a good idea of who stole it, and i have some prove, but its just witness prove, no real prove.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to school and police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • My iPod was stolen, is there any way it can get tracked down?

Hey, how are you guys doing?
I bought a 4g iPod touch 32g a while ago, and I want to know if it can be tracked down. I didn't have iCloud put on it & I used an app on another iPod to track it down using the apple account and no results were shown as if the iPod had been reset. Please let me know if it can be tracked down.

  • If My iPod Was Stolen...

If my iPod was stolen, is there any way for Apple to keep an eye on the serial number to see if someone tries to re-register it on iTunes? Or is that an option the thief could skip?
It seems mine has been stolen and I'm pretty bummed out and want it back. Thanks.

If you registered it, you can call Apple and they can give you the serial number.
Also it is on your computer in this file -> C:\UsersUser\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPodDevices.XML
It's also on the box and on the receipt.

  • My ipod was stolen and i need to know if there is a way to locate where its been registered or plugged in i have the serial number.

hello my name is marco and my ipod was stolen during school its a 4th generation 32gb. i need help in how to start a process to finding it or tracking it i also have the serial number if that helps, the phone number to apple where i can report it missing would really help! incase someone uses it and attempts to register it can i get the location to where this attempt was made i.p. adress etc. please i need help this ipod is precious to me and its something that i can't just forget about.

If you haven't turned on FindMyiPhone in settings (yes, even for the iPod), there's nothing you can do. Apple will not help you find it using the serial number.  If you did turn it on and the thief doesn't get into the iPod (you did have a passcode set, right?), then go to iCloud website using a browser, log in and try finding the iPod.  Unless the thief reset the device to factory settings, and if the wifi isn't off, it's location should show on the map.  After that it's up to you to report its location to the police.

  • My ipod was stolen and i finnaly was able to get into my account after they changed the password is there a way i can fid the locaition of my ipod even if it has died ?

my ipod was stolen and i finnaly was able to get into my account after they changed the password is there a way i can fid the locaition of my ipod even if it has died ?

No.  The only way is if the FindMyiPod feature was already set up and wifi is on.  However, that can be defeted by turning the iPod off or restoring it. If they have access to the iPod then can just turn the feature off.
If the iPod off/battery drained how would you expect there t be a way of finding it?
    Apple will not help.

You report it the the police and give then the serial number. All they really do is know to whom to return it to if it is recovered.
