In the process of turing it on it froze with the apple screen and now wont turn back on. I plugged it into the computer but it wont connect. What should i do?
Hold the home button and sleep button down together for 16 second when device is on. This will reset it in DPU mode which completely shuts of device. Once it has loaded it should be fixed

Did you make sure that the brightness is turned up to max in Settings/Brightness?
Is anything covering the brightness sensor?

See if you can fix it by resetting the device.
To reset, hold the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again.

I have an unlocked 3GS and it is NOT jailbroken. It ran out of battery last night and when i charged it this morning it has got stuck on the apple logo wont do anything else. My computer doesnt pick it up either! Can somebody HELP please!!!
nb. i havent updated it for a while to its running a 3. something software.Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes, then restart the iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons until you see the Apple logo. I have wallpapers that are saved to my camera roll and I'd like to copy them (although ideally I'd like to completely move them) to the iphone's "wallpapers" folder. However, when I go to do that on the device, it doesn't allow me, and when I go to do it via my computer (Windows), the folders don't show up at all. Any information on how to do this on my phone directly, or on the computer, would be helpful. Thanks!
Since the music was purchased through the iTunes Store, you can absolutely redownload that by going to the iTunes Store main page, making sure you are signed in to the Apple ID used to initially purchase the music, Choosing purchased under Quick Links on the right hand side of the screen, selecting "All Music" and then clicking Download All. You can also do the same for any apps that are not on your computer, except selwect Apps instead of Music in the Purchased screen. if it well not let you download the content, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ and use the ExpressLane form to tell the iTunes Store Support group what's going on. They can get those downloads regranted to you, and make them ready for download, and eventually, ready to be synced back to your iPod. The photos are the only thing I can't help you with. If they weren't imported to your computer, or saved in a backup, then there is no way to get them back. But you're fine as far as your Music and Apps are concerned. Hope this helps!!

I'm concerned that my iMac, purchased 5 years ago, is about the crash and I can't back up my files and programs to an external hard drive via Time Machine because the computer freezes after only a couple hundred MB and gets nowhere near the required amount.
How can I save these files and programs if the computer hard drive fails or has to be replaced without the backup being able to be done? I need to do something quickly, but I'm not sure what I can or should be doing.Get an external hard drive, some good ones that I like are the OWC, http://www.macsales.com Mercury Elite Pro drives...they are very good and reasonably priced.
Get the drive, connect via USB or FireWire, then use Disk Utility to format the new drive as Mac OS X Extended (Journaled), and then use Disk Utility to Restore the current drive to the new drive. Restore actually clones the drive so you will have a bootable backup on the external drive.
After you have formatted and named the external drive, click Restore in the main Disk Utility window, drag the name of the old hard drive to the Source box, and drag the name of the new external drive to the Destination box. DU will make an exact clone of the internal drive on the external drive.
That clone will be a complete backup of the operating system and all of your data.
You can test it by restarting the iMac and hold the Option key. That will give you a grey screen showing all bootable drives. Just click the external drive, then click the upward pointing arrow under it and the iMac will boot from that drive. -

I just got a new computer and none of my ITUNE songs or games are downloading. I am stressing because I just ordered an IPHONE 4 and I am giving my daughter my old phone. I cant afford to start all over on my songs and games. HELP
Your music/apps/etc will ONLY be where you put them. They do not magiacally appear in other places.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

If you have Apple Care, I would take it to an Apple Store. If you do not, then I would reccomend taking it to the place you bought it (Best Buy, Carrier Store, etc.)

I have the same problem. My iPhone 3GS was working just fine until I upgraded the OS to 5.0.1 a couple of days ago. When it complained about SIM card, I got that replaced and still the problem persisted. I tried to activate the Phone using my Wi-Fi and that also did not work. The phone has become unusable now.
When I contacted the CSR, he says that my phone already would have broken and that is why the upgrade did not go through which is not a fact after seeing these postings.
Apple, instead of finding a solution to this, recommend buying another equipment. Is there a way to revert back to older OS? -

My iPod Touch (2nd Gen) is stuck on the Apple start up screen. I have restored it three times so far, but every time it turns off the problem returns. Since restoring yesterday, the battery life has been dramatically shortened as well. I have no idea what to do, as my iPod is out of warranty and this problem started for no reason what so ever. I also have no local access to Apple support. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've tried this. Though it brings temporary success, in the fact that the iPod functions until it is turned off again. Then the problem seems to return. I thought it might be a problem with the backup file, but I have since restored it completely (to have nothing but the basics on) and the problem is still there.
Thank you for the responses so far though. Hopefully, they can help others with a similar problem.

I believe mine is also 4.2.1. I made an error when selecting the OS at the bottom of my posts and have no idea how I change it.
*EDIT* - I have now managed to change my iOS, not that it makes much difference. I've heard people have been having trouble with iOS 4 on the 2nd Gen iPod Touch?
