My iPod will no longer turn on after attempting to update my iTunes to the newest version.

Pretty self-explanatory for the most part. I was attempting to update iTunes to the newest version because I have been putting it off forever. It's not currently the newest version..however when it was updating, my iPod went into recovery mode (the screen flashed to the iTunes symbol & the USB symbol) & then after a few minutes of trying to restart it (pushing the home & the lock button) it went completely black & will not turn on whatsoever. My iTunes STILL will not recognize it & I have done everything to try to turn it on/get it to work, but nothing happens.
Additional details that just happened: When I try to get it out of the black screen of death by holding the home & the lock button now, the Apple icon flashes for a few seconds, but won't fully turn on, which I don't understand why? Now it's back to the recvovery mode screen.
Any suggestions? It's fully charged, I know that for sure.
I would really appreciate the help though! I walk 20 minutes to class every day & always have it with me. It's a 4th Generation iPod Touch.

I knew I should have never trusted Apple with personal files. I put all of my pictures from my digital camera (1,800 of them) on the ipod for "safe" keeping. Now my ipod will no longer turn on. I fully charged the ipod until the "charged" icon appeared. Then I disconnected it. A couple hours later I tried to turn it on and it no longer turns on. I've had this iPod for about 6 months and I'm pretty sure it's not a dead battery. It's been very good with me. The hold switch is NOT activated. I went through all of the common sense troubleshooting steps. I tried to reset the ipod. I tried recharging it on AC power. I tried reconnecting it via USB on computer. I tried the updater, which doesn't work b/c ipod won't turn on. I've also tried hitting it...jk. I also have 10,330 songs on here. This is my life on my ipod. I can't afford to lose this info. 60GB gone. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

My iphone 4 is locked after trying to update to ISO5. At the same time I was updating Itunes.

It takes a long time to update itunes, backup your phone and install iOS6.
I usually do this in 3 steps:
1) Without the phone connected (and not using over the air update) - update itunes version.
2) Connect the iphone and let it do a backup
3) install the new IOS
Be patient.....

Did you try to charge it using the adapter or your computer?
If you can, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, described in this article:

If still not luck, your battery might have to be replaced:

I recently updated my iTunes to the new version. For some reason the titles and details of songs on the SONGS page do not appear, although the songs will play. Has anyone else had this problem? Every other page seems to be ok.

I recently updated my iTunes to the new version. When I opened it I found that there were no details listed on the SONGS page. On all other pages the relevant pictures/details appear. Although there are no details showing on the songs page, the songs are obviously there as when you click on a line it plays the song that should be listed. Has anyone else had this problem? (I am using a Windows XP Pro system on my Laptop).

Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.
Would TechTool Pro detect a bad HD or RAM?

Reboot it
Now download a fresh itunes from apple and try installing
Reboot it

I'm having a issue with my Ipod Classic. It has worked fine since I purchased it but all of a sudden it simply won't turn on at all. I've tried all the methods of rebooting it and charging it but it simply will not do anything. It was not dropped or mishandled in any way and was used this morning on the way to work in perfect working fashion. Tried it after work and it simply will not turn on at all. I did the iTunes update some time ago to the latest version 7.0.2 I have had no trouble using my 5th gen ipod until today. I connect as I always have to transfer my latest iTunes purchases to my ipod and nothing happens. I tried resetting the ipod and rebooted my macbookpro. Tried again, still nothing. The ipod still has 22GB of space left on it so its not full. Can anyone help me figure out what has happened? On iTunes, the File-Sync Ipod is grayed out as well. Not sure what else to try.

No, I cannot see ipod in itunes. My father in law has all Vietnamese songs on his playlist. After updating itunes to the newest version, itunes isn't sorting his songs alphabetically anymore. It was sorting it perfectly in itunes 10. How do I fix this?

He even tried reverting to before he updated to version 11 and it won't let him open itunes when he tried that.

We did try that, it's just that some of the vietnamese characters have accent marks on them or there's a soft/hard D so with those, they're not in their usual position like there were in version 10. I have temporarily created him a new playlist with all this songs so he can drag and drop them into the correct position. I guess this temporary fix will have to do until the next update? More than likely, especially given the lengthy age of the device. Batteries only have so many charge cycles they are good for. After that, only time will tell and if your case, it sounds like it's totally shot in terms of being able to hold any sort of charge.
You can opt to have Apple swap out the battery for a flat fee or you can also choose to send it a third party service center who can do the same job for a little less. A quick Google search for "iPod battery replacement" should give you quite a few results to work with in terms of finding the best deal.
Lastly, if you feel like you are handy with repairing small electronics, you can choose to purchase a new battery and swap it out yourself. There are excellent guides over at iFixit that can walk you through the process step-by-step.

One night I was using my iPod like I normally do. It was half way out of battery. I left my iPod on my bed and went to the kitchen. I got back in around 3 minutes. I went to grab my iPod and pushed the power button and it didn't turn on. I then pressed the home screen button and wouldn't turn on either. My iPod now does not want to turn on at all. I put it to charge and it won't turn on that way either. What should I do?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
