We won't know until you try the procedure. The reset will not affect the content of the iPod.

My new computer does not have CD media so I need to download Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard online. I am able to download but when it prompts me for the serial number, it says my number is not valid. I have double and triple checked, the serial number has been entered EXACTLY as it says on the box. What could be causing this?

Adobe acrobat 9 standard you will need to use a computer which does contain an optical drive and copy the contents to a USB drive. You can then install from the USB drive on your computer which does not include an optical drive. Unfortunately if you did not choose download at the time of purchase then I am not aware of any download locations for the installation files.

In the past when I have updated successfully, the spinning circle would show me an indicator of time left on the update. I no longer have this Indicator. The circle just spins and times out and nothing happens. I've reset the iPad in the settings menu, reset the router, logged in and out of Apple id, powered ithe iPad off and on, and tried a couple other "fixes" that I've read online. So far no luck. How much free space do you have? If it is low, installers may not be able to run properly.

To delete your iCloud account from Settings>iCloud they have to enter your ID password.
The can place the iPod in Recovery mode and they restore the iPod but they will have to enter your iCloud ID and PW to activate the iPod.

There are no 3rd gen 8GB models. They did not make them.

You need to go back to the person you bought it from. Sounds like they may have sold you phone that is not as described.
