You said you updated yur 1G iPod to 4.2.1. A 1G can only go to 3.1.3 and thus you must have jailbroken it to get to 4.2.1 and that can cause problems.

I have the same problem.. apps won't download and won't open. I have a 1st Gen ipod touch and recently upgraded my MacBook Pro (2012) and as soon as I upgraded the iPod Touch to 4.2.1, this happened. I restored to factory defaults and still cannot dl and open apps. Any way to diagnose this problem? Apple tech charges $29.99 for out of warranty products and if I am reluctant to pay with them telling me its simply a hardware problem.

  • What do you do when your iPod won't let you download apps and says invalid accesories?

My iPod touch has been giving me trouble latley. It won't let me download apps and when i try it says incorrect accesory and takes me to edit info when I finish that it doesn't fix anything. Really need help.

Try logging out of your account on the iPod by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.

  • Ipod Won't Let Me Download Apps or Update Them?

Alright guys, recently I bought a few apps for my Ipod and everything whent well until I accidently overcharge my Visa Debit card on the last app I purchased. The purchase whent through a few days back and let me use the app, then I found when I got home today and tried to update my apps, I could not and I got an error message saying something along the lines of "Credit details not valid use another payment method" so I checked it out and found out that I owe 0.99 for an app and I accidently overcharged my debit. Will it deduct the money from my Visa and let me download and update stuff again once the fee is paid?

  • My ipod won't let me download apps on it...

My ipod wont let me downloas anything from itunes or the appstore on it it keeps sayin error: try again? O cancel please help

Well I'm stumped man. Call them and see what's going on. It may be your iPod is having software issues so you may have to do a Restore on it. Have you tried resetting it? By holding the Wake button and the Home button at the same time and waiting for the Apple logo to pop up? I'd do that first.
Then if that didn't work I'd do a backup through iTunes and do a restore.

  • My Ipod Touch won't let me download apps or log in

I just got it and it won't let me download apps. I even made another ID. It keeps saying "Password or Apple ID is incorrect" or it will say "cannot connect to ITunes" and if it doesn't say either one of these it says "An Unknown Error occured" I restored it twice. Changed my password like 5 times (I know I'm entering it right). My iTunes is up to date. and it's iPod Touch 4g. Any help??
when I made another ID it says
Your email address has been verified, but your account isn't active yet.
Activate your account from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
    1Go to Settings
    2Tap iCloud
Activate your account from your Mac:
1Open System Preferences (Apple menu > System Preferences)
    2Click iCloud

Go to Setting>General>About. oow much avaialbe storage do you have?
Have you tried resetting the iPOd?
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • I have an older ipod, and it won't let me download apps. It says my iPod isn't compatible?

I have an older ipod, and it won't let me download apps. It says my iPod isn't compatible? Then when i plug my iPod onto iTunes it says it's fully updated.

You don't say which version of iPod you have but apparently it's fully updated to it's capability yet not to the level that newer iPods can go.  Some apps do require the latest IOS level.

Yes. You can set the payment method to "None" once you log into iTunes on your PC/Mac. I have it set up this way.

  • My brand new ipod touch won't let me download apps.

My brand new ipod touch won't let me download apps.  I put in my password and then get a screen that says "Download Now".  I can't press the okay button to start the download.  What should I do?  All of the other buttons on the screen work, so I don't think it is broken.

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

If you want to use your current ID you will either have to provide a credit card or redeem an iTunes gift card.  Otherwise you can create a new ID without a credit card to purchase free apps by following this exactly as written: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534.

  • TS3297 I have an iPhone and recently bought an iPod 4 touch what l am using the same apple ID for. The iPod won't let me download songs from iTunes it is asking me security questions which I don't think I have put answers to in the first place.

I have an iPhone and recently bought an iPod 4 touch what l am using the same apple ID for. The iPod won't let me download songs from iTunes it is asking me security questions which I don't think I have put answers to in the first place, because of this it won't let me buy any songs on iTunes

It's probably asking you to verify the security code found on the back of your credit card.
