My iPod won't sync to my new computer!

I recently purchased a new laptop, and I transferred all my music, etc from my old iTunes to the one on my new computer. But I think it's trying to sync both my old iTunes library and my new one because I get a message saying that there's not enough room, which doesn't make sense. Help?

Do you have any content stored in your main iTunes library? Can you play your music in iTunes?
When you setup iTunes on your new computer, did import the music from your old library into your new one?
If need be, here is an article providing information on how to transfer music from your old computer to your new one.

  • My ipod (nano, 6th generation) won't sync to a new computer with different stuff on it. It *appears* to sync but when it's done it still has the stuff from the other computer on it. What to do?

My ipod (nano, 6th generation) won't sync to a new computer with different stuff on it. Itunes on the new computer doesn't give the usual warning that you are about to lose all your existing stuff and the ipod *appears* to sync but when it's done it still has the stuff from the other computer on it. What to do?

You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. To switch:

  • HT1364 I got a new computer and my IPOD will not sync with the new computer?  what am I doing wrong....thanks

I got a new computer and my IPOD will not sync with the new computer.....I have a ITUNES account on the new computer and is downloading music just fine but it will not sync to the IPOD....What should I do to sync my IPOD?  thanks

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Attempts to sync an iDevice to a new computer will remove all content from the device and replace it with content from the new, empty library.

  • I have recently copied my iTunes to a new computer using the instructions from Apple site, via an external drive. My iPod will not sync on the new computer. The option to sync automatically is greyed out and it won't let me set it. How do I resolve?

I have recently installed iTunes on a new Windows 8 laptop and copied from my old XP system using an external drive. This all went ok. The problem is that i can't get my iPod classic to sync on the new laptop. I did a factory reset and re-install. It still won't sync. When I hit the 'sync' icon it does nothing. In the Options screen the option to automatically sync is greyed out and doesn't allow me to enter anything in the box. How can i resolve this?

You need iTunes on the computer. There is no iTunes for your phone. See:

  • I have two computers connected to my iTunes. but it won't sync. My new computer won't take the songs already on my iPod or give me the new songs on the computer. What do I do?

I tried figuring out the icloud thing but all my settings are set to "on" so it should sync but it isn't... and plugging my ipod into my new computer doesn't change anything. The computer won't pick up the songs on the ipod and the ipod won't pick up the new songs on the new computer.

What do you mean by "won't pick up the songs"?
You can only sync with one iTunes library. However, you can manage mauic and videos among different computer by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
You can transfer iTunes purchases to a computer by:

  • My ipod isn't syncing with my new computer...?

I just recently got a new computer and was trying to put all my music and videos and movies and pictures and stuff on my ipod onto my new computer.  When I hooked up my ipod, only the things I bought from the itunes library synced with the computer.  I tried clicking sync but when I did that, it says that the ipod can only by synced with one computer (my old one) and in order to sync it with my new computer, I needed to erase everything on my ipod and then replace it with the material that will be synced from the new computer.  I don't want to erase everything on my ipod because I don't want to have to lose material that I didn't buy from the itunes store, like what I uploaded from cds.  Is there any way to get around this and still sync my ipod to my new computer?

Also, after I purchased a few things on my new computer from the itunes store, I can't get them onto my ipod because it says it won't sync.  I've tried selecting the different files and dragging them over to the ipod section on the left of itunes but it has a little DO NOT sign on it when I try...

  • My ipod is not syncing with my new computer

My new tunes are showing in my new computer but not in my old computer and my ipod nano will not sync with my new computer.  Especially play lists.  Not even new ones.  Old playlists will not sync to my new computer either.

transfer the song from the old to the new computer's iTunes.
you can use e.g. home sharing to transfer the song.

  • HT2305 I have a new computer with Windows 8 OS.  Do I need to install drivers so that my Ipod Nano will sync with this new computer:

My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas.  I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one.  However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13.  Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely.  I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod.   I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer.  I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not.  I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour.  He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8.  I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums.  So...my question is:  Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what?  I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved.  Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

  • Songs from my iPod won't copy to my new computer. PLEASE HELP.

I just purchased a new computer and i'm trying to transfer my music files from my iPod on to my new computer. I have already made it so i manually update the ipod and and i can select the songs. I have also already made it so the files from my iPod will be added to my iTunes music folder. But when i click consolidate to copy the songs into the iTunes music folder nothing happens, I get a message verifying that i want to consolidate, and even when i click "consolidate". Nothing happens, I have tried numerous times but nothing ever happens. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I do not believe, no matter how your ipod is set up, that iTunes will allow you to copy off the iPod. However, there are many programs that will copy the songs off your iPod and into iTunes. YOu can either search google for a "ipod ripper" or search the threads for a topic that says getting songs of your ipod. Hope this helps. I personally use a software called ipod accesss, which has a mac verion as well i believe. Hope this helps...

  • My iPod won't synch on my new computer

I got a new computer and transferred my music and iTunes to the new computer. Now, when I plug in my iPod Nano and/or iPod mini to my new computer, I get an error message that says "The iPod cannot be synched. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem??

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This is the iPod touch - connect to Mac discussion area. As you have neither a touch or a Mac, you might want to consider posting in one of the more appropriate areas in the future.
As to your specific problem, you need to Administrator access in Windows XP to make this work. I'm not sure how your account is setup in XP, but it needs to be changed to allow Admin access.

  • ITunes won't sync music on new computer

I recently bought a new laptop and copied my entire iTunes library onto it.
I've also registered my device onto this computer.
So I plug my iPhone in, click on my device on iTunes, then go to the music tab and click on Sync..and after syncing is complete I check my phone but nothing has changed. The music that I deselected are still there and the ones I newly selected are not.
I've tried checking the 'Manually manage music and...' option on the summary tab and in this case a message appears warning me that if I continue to sync my "Dictionary" app will be removed from my phone..only I don't have a dictionary app.
But I go ahead and click to continue, and after the sync is complete I check my phone and my music still hasn't synced.
I've tried checking the 'Sync only checked songs...' option on the summary tab and still the same. I've tried checking the two together and it's still the same.
When I try to sync photos sometimes the sync automatically gets cancelled during the first step, or when it doesn't cancel the photos remain unsynced, like my music.
Any help would be much appreciated..I only sync a few songs at a time on my iPhone, basically what I would listen to that day so I've been stuck with the same few songs for a while now and I commute.
    Thanks guys

    Hi HB3207!
I have a couple of suggestions for you to attempt to resolve this issue. First, I would try re-creating your iTunes library following the instructions listed here:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
You may also need to simply try restarting your phone and attempting to sync again after a restart. Information on completing this can be found here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
