    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 80gb ipod wont hold a charge properly!!!!!

my ipod is 2 weeks old, and the battery drains too fast - it's 80gb. i watch an hour and half long movie and the battery was already half empty. another time, it was fully charged and i was listening to music and watching a tv show, i fell asleep for five hours to find the battery completely dead and i had to re-charge it. do i have to calibrate the battery? i did it once but somebody said you have to do it a couple times before a new ipod holds a charge. i got it from Best Buy, should i exchange it for a new ipod? i had another video ipod, and i dont recall it ever being like this.

    Try these.
    My iPod won't turn on.
    My iPod has no power.
    My iPod won't wake up.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Frankly, as this iPod is brand new, I would be returning it for either an exchange or a refund.

  • IPod wont open on Itunes

I downloaded songs and now the ipod wont show up to update the new songs. I have tried all the help topics with no luck. Do not want to spend alot of time adding and deleting stuff on my computer. HELP

I also have that problem sometimes. Have you tried disconnecting the Ipod from the computer, and then reconnecting it? That usually works for me on my 2d gen 2GB nano (using Windows XP).

When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see that icon displayed. It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.
    Or you can try this.

Other than that, your iPod cannot be used until you complete this process.

  • HT1349 My Ipod wont open any of my apps, help!

So when i tried to use my ipod today, it wouldnt open mostly all of my apps. It would open a few. I connected it to my sisters computer yesterday to charge, but she has an Iphone with an Itunes account on her computer, and it gave me all of her apps. I deleted all of the apps that her computer gave me, but I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it. Thank you.

    Hi CalebAchid,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If applications on your iPhone are quitting after updating your software using iTunes, first restart or reset your phone:
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the article with these steps here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If you are still experiencing the same issue, I recommend resetting all settings next:
Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose Reset All Settings:  All your preferences and settings are reset.
    Reset iPhone settings

If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPhone:

  • My ipod wont turn on, charge, or connect to itunes

I have an ipod touch, the third one i have gotten in about 3 months. All having the same issue. I'm about to say screw it and stop using apple products forever because this is completely ridiculous.
WHEN the ipod was working it would come on for no apparent reason and start playing music even when it was locked. One day I went to listen to it and it wouldnt come on. I went to charge it and left it on the charger for about 4 hours, nothing. I plugged it into the computer, nothing. I plugged it into 5 different cables, nothing. I held down the center and power button until the apple popped up..... and nothing.
Obviously I cannot connect it to itunes so PLEASE dont tell me to reset it via itunes. Can someone PLEASE tell me why this has happened to my last 3 ipods and how to possibly fix it?
I no longer have money to have it fixed or to buy a new one, seeing as i bought this MAYBE 3 weeks ago. Sick of spending money on products that seem to crap out relentlessly.

There is really no way to tell WHY it happened except may the Apple Genius. I have an iPhone 4 that is still working fine as well as an iPad 4, iPhone 4S and 7G iPod Nano. I have not had any problems.

  • My ipod wont turn on,charge or be recognized by my computer.

My ipod touch 2nd generation I believe was dead so I turned it back on and played for a little then it died again.Usually when this happens I just have to charge it over night and it works fine, but this time what happens is it goes to a screen with the apple logo in  the middle as if it was turning on but then the screen goes black. It then goes to the battery screen and is red with very little battery yet has the charging symbol underneath it.In a little after that it goes black again then goes back the the apople screen and starts over again. It ahs been charging for over a week and I don't kn ow what to do.Alsoy computer does not recognize the ipod.

    Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Also let the battery full drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
It could be that the battery had died.

After downloading I press the onscreen icon to open the application but it only opens momentarily to its home screen then closes after about 3 seconds. I have tried downloading other applications but the same thing keeps happening....they all close after about 3 secs and I cant get passed the home screen
Anybody else having the same problems? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This is a user-to-user forum - if you want an answer from an Apple technician, you'll need to call AppleCare.
Have you updated to the current version of the iPod Touch software (v2.1)? That +"Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes if you have lots of 3rd party applications."+ The update is free for those who have purchased the 2.0 upgrade.

  • TS1383 my ipod wont turn or charge it just flases the apple when plugged in

My ipod will not turn on. When I plug it in to the computer to charge it will not do anything, it just flashes the apple sign it also will not pull up the itunes like it normally does. HELP

First, try a Restore.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Ipod wont hold a charge

I haven't used it in a couple of years. So I plugged it in to charhe. It looks like it has charged, but as soon as I unplug it , the screen goes dark.

It sounds like the battery is shot and in need of replacement, especially considering it hasn't been used in a couple of years.
If you wish to replace the iPod's battery you have 3 options.
    1.  Send it in to be serviced by Apple for a flat fee.
    2.  Send it into a third party repair company instead (much cheaper).
    3.  Purchase a new battery and replace it yourself.

  • My iPod wont open up my music from iTunes. Has anyone else had this problem?

My iPod Itouch won't up my music on iTunes. It started happening around the time I updated my iPad to io7 although not sure if this is connected to my problem with my iPod. Has anyone got any ideas on ow to fix this?

If you mean that the iPod does not appear in iTunes:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
You need to ensure that you have iTunes 11.1 installed on the computer.
