Just got a 2nd gen ipod shuffle and trying to sync it to my itunes library. My library does not detect my shuffle but my computer does. When I run a diagnostic "ipod connection status" is red/failed and once I click help I am sent to downlaod latest version of itunes. I tried updating to the latest version of itunes v7.4.2 but when once I click on download it does not ask me to run or save, therefore I am also unable to update to the latest version. What am I doing wrong and how can I sync my shuffle to my library. Thanks in advance.

What version of Windows are you using? Windows 2000 for instance won't work with iTunes 7.4, it's no longer supported which could be why you can't get the version you downloaded to run:
iTunes for Windows in Windows XP or Windows 2000 doesn't open after upgrading
iTunes 7.3.2 for Windows 2000

IPod not showing up in iTunes (but it worked before)

Hey... this is my second day of having my iPod and all was working fine. I had loaded songs into iTunes and was able to transfer them onto the iPod..
The problem I am having now though is that I always leave my computer on at night, but I turn off my monitor. I went to sleep last night and when I turned on my monitor this morning, my computer had shown that it had been reset (it was prompting me to log in) so I did so, and now my iPod wont show up in iTunes anymore... but it does show up in windows explorer.
Any fix to this? I've restarted my computer several times, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and also stopped the iPod process in the device manager thingy and restarted it, but to no avail.

I've posted several questions over this and no one has helped me either, i've done all the delete, uninstall, reinstall, computer management things too, and nothing has worked for me either, I am quite disappointed at how I am not getting any help. Hope you find someone who can help you!

Then try a different computer to help determine if yo have an IPod or computer problem.

ive got a fifth generation video ipod, and i think ive got itunes 6.0.1 or something of the sort, and whenever i hook it up to my computer via usb, the ipod displays the "do not disconnect" symbol but wont show up on itunes.

I have plugged my ipod into my mac and it charges, but wont show up in itunes or on the desktop, I have tried resetting the ipod, reinstalling itunes and checking for all updates. I have also changed cables, ports and plugged it into a different computer and the same thing occured. The ipod is not new, and it used to work, now i just want to re-sync it.

So I've looked up this issue on multiple forums and here, but it seems like everyone is having a simmilar issue, but not the same. I've gone through just about everything here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369 and I've tried all the trouble shooting and everything. I thought that maybe it was an issue with my cheap USB but I recently purchased an apple brand one and it still doesn't work. My iPod doesn't even show up as an iPod in the connected devices on my computer, but it shows up as a camera or something. I have a Toshiba Leading Innovation laptop with Windows 8, and a 4th generation iPod touch. My older iPod nano connects to iTunes just fine. I'm thinking it's an issue with my iPod touch but I have absolutely no clue how to fix this. Can anyone help?

The Nano uses different drivers than iOS devices like the iPod touch

Ipod wont show up in itunes after installing update

okay so i hadn't updated my ipod in a couple of months (bad i know but we have really slow internet here and it takes forever to download things) then i downloaded the update a couple of days ago and it started installing then came up with an error saying it failed.
It was late at night so i just switched off my laptop and went to bed, and the next morning i tried to turn on my ipod and it was stuck on the connect to itunes screen. When I plug it in it comes up with a box saying "Windows needs to install device driver software for your Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" I clicked the locate and install device driver software, but it can't find anything.
It wont come up in itunes and i've tried the restoring thing, but it's not working...maybe i'm doing it wrong? idk help anyone?

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! Downloaded 9 point whatever it was, and then it said i needed to update my iPod, so i lugged it in, all was hunky dory and then it said i had to restore my iPod and so i tried that and now it wont restore it, keeps coming up wit some whacky error and the iPod is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and its driving me insaaaaaaane!!!!

Currently, my iPod won't show up in iTunes. I have reset it multiple times, but to no avail. I have gone back and forth from disk mode several times and still nothing works. Every now and then iTunes says it's preparing to restore iPod, though the device doesn't show up, but then nothing happens. I have re-installed iTunes, rebooted, re-installed drivers, and I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any ideas?
