My Ipod wont show up in My Computer. But it is visible in itunes.  HELP!

OK I have tried everything reseting and exetera.
It works on my old IBM laptop but on my new Dimension 9150 Dell. I just want to transfer music to my new computer.
Please Somebody help!

Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method I've seen posted. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.

  • IPod Classic shows up in My Computer, but not in iTunes

My iPod Classic shows up in My Computer, but not in iTunes. I've gone through the troubleshooting guide, reset it 3 times and put it in disk mode, reinstalled and updated iTunes and still nothing.

    Hey there april_lee!
I have a website for you that can walk you through the troubleshooting steps on your iPod classic. This will help you determine the source of your issue and hopefully get the iPod working for you consistently again. The website can be found right here:

  • IPod Touch shows up on My Computer, but freezes iTunes, and does NOT show up on iTunes, how can i fix this?

I have honestly spent countless hours trying to fix this, I FINALLY got it to show in My Computer, driver is updated, I have re-installed iTunes numerous times, recently did a FRESH Windows 7 Ultimate re-install, i can't restore the iPod (because it has been restored, and I can't even access it via iTunes) My iPod is NOT broken, it works on my laptop fine, it shows up on iTunes and My Computer, no problem. However, I need to use my iPod on my main computer for songs (iPod's practically new by the way) Like my question states, my iTunes freezes up, and it's very strange because it freezes, then a couple minutes later iTunes works fine, BUT my iPod doesn't show up on the side like it's supposed to. I've done everything, I hope I get some good support, thanks in advance!
    ~Thomas
Edit: I have the latest update for the driver, and iTunes, iPod has 4.3.3

  • Ipod touch shows connection with home computer but can't access internet

Just got ipod touch...and can't connect to internet on home computer.  Wifi is on and it shows connection to my home computer but I can access the internet.

What iP address is shown on the iPod for network connection?  If it starts with 169 you are not connected to the network, the 169 IP is assigned by the iPod and not obtained form the router.
    I would try:
    - powering off and then back on yur router.
    - Reseting network settings on the iPod: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • Ipod wont show up on "my computer" OR itunes!!!???

the ipod doesnt actually work correctly i just asked a question about it and i was going to try to completely restore the ipod but it doesnt show up on itunes or on "my computer". here is my question i recently asked if it helps..
i got a 30 gb ipod video from someone because they cant get it to work so i bought a charger and plugged it into the computer. it said very low battery please wait right at first and had a little circle thing that showed it was loading. now it will only show an apple sign on the screen no matter what i had it plugged in over night i tried reseting it but it just went right back to showing the apple sign is there anything else i can do or why is it doing this?

I recently purchased a new 120 GB ipod classic to replace my original 30 GB ipod video. My computer failed to recognize my new hardware and I receive the following error message when running diagnostics in an attempt to locate the "new" 120 GB ipod.
    No external plug-ins installed.

I would like to note that the previous serial number mentioned was that of my original ipod. Again, I've been unable to connect my new ipod and have even reinstalled the most recent (iTunes 8.01 I believe) Itunes in an effort to recognize the newer ipod. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Without knowing exactly what troubleshooting you've tried, if you are using a Windows based computer, try iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Disable a/v software and turn off the Firewall.. see if that helps.
    Disable antivirus software

  • My ipod shows up in my computer but is not recognized by itunes

I have an Ipod touch 5th generation and I seem to be having problems with it not being recognized in Itunes.  When i connect my ipod to my computer it automatically opens my computer(file explorer) on Windows 8. But, when i open Itunes it does not realize an ipod is connected. I have restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, have restarted apple mobile device, and run diagnostics and troubleshooting(didn't work because it couldnt recognize my ipod touch) and still none have fixed my issue.  It worked before windows 8 but now it is not working. Please Help!

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • IPod Nano shows up on "my computer", but "sync" is grayed out in iTunes

This is my second iPod that has has the same problem on two different computers.  I have run diagnostics, and the only test that fails is the one to sync. I have went through all of the help steps located there, and still cannot get it to work.  Since this is the second iPod, and the same thing is happening I'm guessing it is not the iPod.  The first one was a 3rd generation, this one is a 4th generation Nano.  I would appreciate any help as I have done everything possible and nothing seems to make a difference.  Thanks

Did you try reformatting it then?  If so, what happens when you tried?  What happens if you try connecting the iPod to your PC in Disk Mode?

  • Ipod wont show through MyComputer or Itunes

    Hi all,
My Ipod wont show on my work computer but displays on every other PC!
It comes up with the 'Safely Remove Hardware' Icon but doesn't display anywhere else in windows. I have restarted the Ipod Service but when Itunes opens, it says the Ipod needs to be restored, but not on any other PC, it works perfectly.
Any ideas? I am running the latest versions of Itunes and the Ipod software is up to date!

  • 1st generation ipod. When I plug it into my computer an image of a disk w/a magnifying glass appears (disk scan).  Each time I plug it in it does the same thing and it wont show up on my computer.

I have a 1st generation ipod, which I love. When I plug it into my computer an image of a disk with a magnifying glass appears (disk scan).  When it finishes the scan it always checks out. I then restart it and all looks fine. Each time I plug it in to the computer it does the same thing and it wont show up on my computer. The other strange thing is all of the songs are gone from the ipod but the disk space is still being used. When the ipod is not plugged into the computer everything look fine even the correct date shows up. Any ideas????? Thanks

    try reinstalling iTunes.

  • How come my ipod classic 80gb wont show up on my computer or itunes

can anyone tell me why my ipod classic 80gb wont show up on my computer anywhere

    Hi lllaass,

    Thanks!

  • IPod wont show up at all.

The iPod seems to charge (sometimes), but wont show up on the computer. The iPod wont even show the "don't disconnect" icon on the screen. I've tried different computers (Mac and Win) and have reset the iPod, but to no avail. The only other thing I can think it could be is the port going bad, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows of anything else?
    Thanks
    Dave
