I recently went to: settings, general, reset, and erase all data and settings, now my ipod wont start and itunes wont recodnize it, what happened and how do i fix it?

    - After being connected to a charging source for half an hour, reset the iPod and then connect to your computer and it if appears in iTunes restore the iPod via iTunes.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Call apple or take it into an Apple store. What's wrong is beyond a user fix.

When I try to launch the Itunes app on my Iphone, it starts and then quits right away.  What should I do?

    I would reinstall iOS 7.
Open iTunes (11.1 or later) on your computer and plug your iPhone into your computer.
    Sync your iPhone with iTunes.
Click on your iPhone device and from the Summary Tab, Back up using iCloud and/or iTunes.
On your iPhone, open Settings/iCloud and turn off Find My Phone.
In iTunes, click on the Restore button on the Summary tab next to Check for Updates.
iTunes will completely wipe your phone and reinstall iOS 7.
Setup your iPhone as new and restore from your back up.
Check to see if the iTunes app is functioning correctly and not closing on you.
I did this last night when setting Limit Ad Tracking kept closing Settings and taking me back to the Home screen. After reinstalling iOS 7, the issue went away.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • Macbook wont start and makes ticking noise

The subject line says it all. My macbook wont start and it makes clicking noises from inside the case, kind of like a watch. The display turns on and the chime goes when it starts, but the screen stays white and nothing happens.

You can run diagnostics from the OSX disc. Insert disc one and while it is booting hold down the d key. This should take you into diagnostics.
You might also try to reset PRAM AND PMU first.

  • IPod wont start and wont reset

Yesterday my 80 gig 5th generation iPod wouldnt play any songs and I reset it. Once I turned it on, the apple logo appeared then the iPod told me to hook it up to iTunes to restore the iPod. After I hooked it up a red X appeared. I tried what the site says, but nothing is working.
    What should I do?

Looks like I might have found the solution on a youtube comment:

"Plug into you laptop first, whichever set up you use that has iTunes, i know it won't read it, don't even open iTunes as of yet. Do the typical reboot "Menu +Center button at the same time" and hold it, DONT LET IT GO like we were told, when the apple pops up.. KEEP HOLDING IT it will make a new ding sound I've never heard before. and since its hooked to you laptop already an error message pops up and says apple will need to download something to repair your iPod. I when u see that that when i let reboot buttons go. hit ok on the laptop something downloads for like 20 seconds then the iTunes icon hops around when you open it it has a screen with an iPod classic on it and says "Software version blah blah, iTunes will check for an update on such n such date" AND FINALLY there's a "Restore" button. click that and you will be back to square one with your iPod. Renaming , adding all the music on it, but it will work again, finally. "
I had to do it twice, because my mac froze the first time, but its recognized it now and is downloading the software as we speak...
Now I've clicked the restore button and it's restoring... I'll post again if its a success, otherwise assume failure.

My ipod power an volume button are both broken what should i do??

Try here. Some of the fixes for the Home button are also applicable to the Power button.
    fix for Home button
What happensed to the buttons? Is ther physical damage to the iPod that caused the problem?
Have you tried the standard troubleshooting of:
    - reset.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
to rule out a software problem?

  • MY IPOD WONT START AND WONT RESET

Hello, I own the 20g ipod with colour display and picture storage. Recently i had it connected to my computer and it was displaying the do not disconnect message. However it was not doing anything on my computer. I decided to disconnect it and since then when i try turning my ipod on there is and error message with a picture of an ipod with a sad face and exlamation point. I have tried everything to fix it. I have tried reseting it but it does not fix it. I have tried putting it in disk mode and connecting it to my computer but it does not respond. It does make the beeping noise when i connect it in disk mode but does not show up on my computer. If you have any suggestions on how i could fix this problem i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

my ipod wont charge and i have used different chargers for it is it possible to reset it while its dead?

I do not know what you mean by charger. Cable?
    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
