  • Ipod wont fully sync

sorry i am posting this twice, i didnt realized i posted it in the windows section, sorry once again i am new to this..
So! i have a 5th generation 30GB ipod, and i have had no problems syncing it until this past week. When i plug my iPod in and click Sync iPod it starts to sync then it just stops and doesn't say sync complete, nor does it put any of my new stuff on my iPod.
i don't know what's causing this, however about a week ago i had to reinstall the installation discs on my macbook so the program DVD player would work, and since then i have noticed i've been having problems with itunes itself saying "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. A required iTunes component is not installed. (-42404)" could this be why my iPod wont fully sync? please help!!
so far the only thing i've tried doing is resetting my iPod and macbook several times. and ive searched all over the web for an answer and cant find anything..
any suggestions are appreciated! thank you! (:

Im also beginning to have similar problems with my 5th gen 30GB ipod! I hadnt had any problems with my secondhand ipod until last week when i purchased a song from itunes and it wouldnt sync! I reported an issue to itunes but it ended up syncing and fixing itself, or so i thought. recently i tried to add a CD to my ipod and only half the songs would sync. Now, anytime i try to add a song, purchased or from a CD, it begins to sync and then stops midway or doesnt sync at all. At first it would just not sync and then be over with, but now when i try to sync a song an error pops up saying "The ipod (name of ipod) cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." I tried updating my ipod software, and resetting and nothing changed.

  • My ipod wont start and itunes wont recodnize it, what happened and how do i fix it?

I recently went to: settings, general, reset, and erase all data and settings, now my ipod wont start and itunes wont recodnize it, what happened and how do i fix it?

    - After being connected to a charging source for half an hour, reset the iPod and then connect to your computer and it if appears in iTunes restore the iPod via iTunes.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:

  • Ipod wont start but syncs normally

I have a problem that seemed to arrive about the same time as Apple updated iTunes to 5.0. My iPod Photo 60gb wont start up to play music anymore. It shows a picture signaling some error and the URL to Apples support site (apple.com/support/ipod) for a few seconds, then shuts of. Apples site gives no clues as to what's the matter though.
The strange thing is that the iPod seems to be working ok when connected to the Mac. It syncs normally and seems to be working as a harddisk.
I have tried a hard reset holding down those two buttons but this does not resolve the problem. I have also tried to download the latest software for the iPod from Apples website, but this won't install.
Does anyone know what to do?

Well... my iPod is not starting at all. even after the steps this tutorial told me to do. i was trying to pick a song on my iPod and then all of a sudden it froze for about 3 minutes and then shut off. and i havent been able to turn it on since. the battery was charged and not low. i tried toggling the hold button and hitting reset even while it was charging with the battery and still nothing. all i hear is the iPod going "vroooom beep" over and over. like its trying to start but cant. its been doing that for almost 12hrs and i dont know what else to do. please help.

  • HI my ipod touch 4th gen wont start sync with itunes.

Itunes recognises the ipod but keeps saying sync session failed to start. It starts off as though it is going to sync by saying step 1of 8 but times out after a few minutes without syncing very frustrating. Any ideas would be welcome. I have restored the ipod and re-installed Itunes

If it stops while trying to backup (step 1 or 2) , try to delete the latest backup in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices. If iTunes can't read the backup, it can't replace it and start the sync process.
Check this article about the location of the backup folder, you might want to back it up before you delete the backup. iTunes: About iOS backups

  • Ipod wont start up / 1.1 problem??

last night my ipod was working just fine, then i upgraded to software 1.1 then spent the whole night loading songs onto my ipod. everything seemed to work fine, when updating was complete i ejected the ipod correctly. then however when i went to use the ipod, all i get is the apple logo for a couple seconds, it restarts and the apple logo comes back on over and over. i cant get the ipod to startup all the way, i think this is a problem with the 1.1 software but when i plug the usb cord in, the computer wont recognize the ipod so i cannot downgrade. anyone have any ideas on what to do I don't want to send it in.

Try reseting/restoring your iPod... But if your computer doesn't recognize it then you might just have to take it to an Apple store to have it fixed/replaced

  • Ipod wont start up

My 3G Ipod got disconnected while applying the latest update. Now It wont mount to my pc. When I plug in the Ipod the Apple symbol Appers for a few seconds, then a picture of the Ipod plug (the part that plugs into the bottom of the Ipod) appers on the Ipod screen, there is also and arrow pointing away from the plug. I'm guessing its telling me to plug it in, but it is pluged in!! The Ipod then turns off after 2seconds. When its pluged in a message pops up on my computer saying "USB Device Not Recognised".
I also have a Photo Ipod and it will mount to my computer no problem. I have tried all the USB ports but same thing keeps displaying on the Ipod! Resetting it doesn't fix it either.
3G   Windows XP   Ipod Photo works fine.

    Hello,
First try ] these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If does not work, please have a check of your iPod in diagnostic mode
    Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.

  • What do i do if my ipod wont start up ?

Ipod touch 4th generation. Will not start up charge or connect to itunes. The device worked this morning and later when i came home the device would not charge or start up. I tried to plug into the computer but itunes would not recognize it. The device was bought 2 months ago.

Yay! That means you are still in warranty.  If you end up needing service, as long as there is no major physical damage and you havent gotten it wet, you should be squared away.
Here's some stuff to try and of course the last step is get service on the iPod, so I put a few links down there to help you.
    Source: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2771
Will not power on, or will not turn on unless connected to power
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Connect the iPod touch to an Apple USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if the display turns on and…
The home screen appears, the device should be working. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen: . Then disconnect the device from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears even after the iPod touch has charged for at least 20 minutes: See the "iPod touch displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or low-battery image appears , continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPod touch did not turn on, reset it while connected to an Apple USB power adapter. If the display turns on, go to step 4.If the display remains black, go to the next step.
Restore the device. Connect it to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes it and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPod touch. If the device doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring it, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPod touch resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring it did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My ipod wont start up and wont connect to itunes

My iPod Touch 4g was jailbroken at ios 5, then I wanted to un-jailbreak it and update to ios 6.1.3. So without connecting to iTunes I just tapped software update in settings and about halfway trought downloading it shut down and rebooted, 10 seconds into start up (my ipod usually takes just over a minute) it turns off and reboots, it cuts out and tries again, this repeats until the battery is dead. iTunes does not pick up my iPod with full or no battery. Please help ASAP, I have nothing to take it's place until I get an iPad 5 when it comes out. (I am in New Zealand)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem

  • TS2771 my whole ipod wont start up

My ipod has a blank screen, i have tried holding down the home and power button at the same time. it turns off then starts to turn back on... but then the screen goes blank again. any help?

Put the Device in DFU Mode:
To put the device in DFU mode,
    1. Connect the device to iTunes
    2. Hold both the power button and the home button down simultaneously
    3. After 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed
    4. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
