My ipod wont syng new stuff

Ok I have a 5g ipod and have had it for a few years. This could have been going on for longer than I realized, but might not because from the start I had WAY more songs than I listened too haha. Anyway... I stopped using P2P programs on my main computer about a year ago, so I never added any music untill recently. My gf brought out her old laptop and we now use it strictly for music downloading, we take this music, burn it as data, transfer to main computer, and upload to itunes.
When I sync the ipod it says "Ipod Synced" almost instantly, yet nothing was added. Everything we moved over can be played in iTunes just fine and never has any problems in there. The weird thing is the music IS on my ipod just not in my library... let me explain with examples. I added some Hendrix which I never had any of on my ipod before, 8 songs to be exact. All 8 songs show up in my Itunes library on my comp, but hen I go to Music>Artist>Jimmi Hendrix>All Songs the only song on there is "Crosstown Traffic". Yesterday, I put it on shuffle and shuffled through ALL 3000+ songs and the 5th or 6th song is a Hendrix song called "Hey Joe". So the song is ON my ipod. There are NO other Variations of the name and there are no songs on my ipod that have "No Artist". This is the case with a few songs and a few artist. I see no simliarities between the ones that don't work or the ones that do work. I have restored my Ipod and done everything I can think of.
My ipod has had some other minor quarks before like when I play a song it will automatically be fast forwarding through the song like I was holding the fast fowrad button down. This can be fixed by pausing it and playing again, but the fast forward symbol will remain up instead of the "play" or "pause" symbol for a few mins then it will go to play symbol like it should.
Is this a probelm with my Ipod or my Itunes?!?! What should I do? Please help me! Thanks in advance
-Pikey

Ok I gave all my Hendrix songs an album and they are now all on my Ipod...
Why was this never a problem before, but it is now? Also it doesnt work the same for all my artists... IE I have say 20 Rage Against the Machine songs some of which have album names and some dont. Yet when I go to All Songs under them all my songs are there. On the other hand I KNOW a couple weeks ago ALL of my Bob Marley songs were on my Ipod under "Bob Marley>All Songs". Yet now only the ones with album names are. So this new "id3" tag rule only applies to some artists? Can you tell me why?
Either way is this some new thing Apple decided to do? If so WHY?!?! I have SOOOOO much music that doesnt have an album name and now thanks to this I have to go find a freaking album name for thousands of songs...

  • IPOD wont see new song in my libarary

I bought a new computer transfered my files to the new computer and authorized it..it sees my libraray and syncs my ipod but i purchased a new song it is in my library but wont download to my ipod can you help?

The update is on www.apple.com/support/downloads/ and is there at the top of the page - download the whole lot and it will sort out what you need automatically. The reseting bit is under the 'support' tab on the apple home page - or look at your user manual. Involves pressing menu and play buttons at the same time till the apple appears.
    Good luck!

  • New ipod wont connect, new ipod wont connect

my old ipod broke, and i bought a new one today, but when i plug it into itunes, it wont show up as a device. i downloaded the new itunes twice, but nothing. please help!!!!!

Is the device on? It needs to be on in order for iTunes to recognize it. If it is on and you're getting this screen:
    http://bit.ly/mSb93T
Then you need to connect it at that point. You can turn it on by holding the Sleep/Wake button.
If you bought it within the past few days, you probably have iOS 5 in which case you can just turn it on by holding the Sleep/Wake button and setting it up on the device itself, then iTunes can probably recognize it after that.

  • HT201269 iTunes is recognizing my iPod as a new iPod even though I have my old stuff restored to it and it says the name of it but still asks to set up as new iPod or restore from a backup.

iTunes is recoznizing my iPod as a new iPod and only gives me the options of set up as new iPod or to restore from a backup. I put my old backup on it and everytime I plug it in it still recognizes it as a new iPod. I've tried restoring it several times and it doesn't help anything and I've also uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it but it didn't help. Please I really need some help I can't download any music with it doing this.

There maybe better ways to do this, but this worked for me when things stopped working a couple of updates back.
Try this; Make sure your stuff is backed up on your computer first. plug the iPod to your computer and do the restore to factory setting. Then set up as if it's a brand new out of the box iPod. (DON"T use your backup copy) Go through all the steps of first time set up. Once complete, add back all your stuff, music, apps, pictures, etc. from your computer. I know it's a pain, but it worked for me.
By the way; the reason I'm doing this total restore is the RED square in the RED circle. All my music downloaded from CDs became unreadable / unplayable today, (worked fine yesterday-- today crap!!) and none of the fixes listed in this forum would work for me. So I started over, after the restore, the RED circles are gone and my music is playing.
    Hope it works, Good Luck!

  • Is there a way to keep all your stuff on your ipod after transferring to a new computer and being able to get new stuff on it while the old stuff is still on the ipod???

Okay so I had my itunes on my moms computer and now her computer is broken and I need to buy stuff on itunes (And I want to see my wish list again). How can I transfer all my old stuff over to this new computer with out changing anything or having anything deleted but at the same time being able to put new stuff on from the computer???

    Try this way:
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

    - Transfer iTunes pirchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Make a backup of he iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer.  Right clickon the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

So, if you select one of these songs on the iPods screen, and try to play it, what happens?  The iPod does nothing?  It skips to the next song?
It's possible you will have to do a Restore on the iPod, if there is data corruption on the iPod causing this problem.  The Restore erases the iPod, and removes any corruption.
NOTE:  There may be a hardware problem, such as the iPod's hard drive becoming unreliable, that is causing this problem and data issues.  It may continue to operate as long as its data stays mostly unchanged, but if you do a Restore to update the hard drive's data in a major way, it is possible that the Restore will fail and leave the iPod non-operable.

  • How do i transfer all the stuff from my ipod to my new ipad

How do I transfer all the stuff from my ipod to my new ipad

Assuming that the iPod is an iPod Touch - Restore the new iPad from a backup of the iPod and follow that with a sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPod to your computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPod name under devices and select transfer purchases. After that completes, right click on the iPad name again and select backup. Eject the iPod.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes if it is not already running. If prompted to set up as new or restore from a backup - select the backup of the iPod. If not prompted, right click on the iPad name on the left under devices and select - restore from backup. Select the iPod backup in the pop up window. Let the process complete and then sync with iTunes.

  • Can i transfer the stuff off my ipod onto my new computer

I have had to get a new computer as my old one broke and no longer works is there any way of getting the stuff off my ipod onto my new computer without losing what is currently on my ipod?
All you help would be greatly appreciated

Hello, friend. If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod. And here is a step by step guide show you how to transfer iPod music to Mac computer or iTunes library, hope it helps.
I have been try your method, it can help me, thanks a lot.As I know Coolmuster iPhone iPad iPod to computer can also transfer iPod music to computer.
