  • My ipod wont turn on, even when i have it plugged into the car or computer

I've had this problem earlier, but when I plugged my ipod into the car charger and held down the menu button, it turned on. My guess is that it just completly died. I have checked to see if the hold button was on also. I've even tried plugging my ipod into another computer, but still the same thing. I've been trying to read up on other similar problems, and i was wondering if i had to leaave my ipod unplugged for over 24 hours ( i heard that's what you have to do to solve some other problems.)
thanks for your time, please help me

If you haven't done so already, check out these. One of the recommendations is to leave it for 24 hours.

If not, then most likely you have damaged the iPod and will need to take or send it to Apple and pay their out-of-warranty replacement price.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.

  • Ipod wont turn on unless I restore it and even if I do it turns off after few hours and wont turn on again unless i restore it again?

ipod wont turn on unless I restore it and even if I do it turns off after few hours and wont turn on again unless i restore it again?

Are you restoring the iPod from a previous back or to factory settings? If you haven't restored to factory settings yet, I would do that next.  And if the problem still continues, it's most likely hardware related, in which case you'll want to schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar to have them take a look at it.

  • IPod wont turn on or update after iTunes 7, please help

It's a 2004, 20gb iPod with click-wheel. A friend gave it to me, if I can try to repair it. Apparently it died after installing iTunes 7. The iPod wont turn on or respond to anything. The only time it does is when its connected to a computer. At first iTunes reported that the iPod is corrupted and needs to be restarted. And when it turns on, theres an icon with an exclamation mark and an URL pointing me to Apple's support. At first i tried with various older firmware files and I got the messega that there was an error formatting the ipod. iTunes 7 gave a 1418 or 1429 error at the end of the updating process.
I tried with resetting it, putting it in the disk mode and then erasing and/or partitioning it with Disk utility and it was always the same. I tried unplugging all the other devices when updating, just like recommended. Again nothing worked.
    Here comes the peculiar part:
Then I did a complete erase, writting zeros over the whole disk in Disk utility. It took ages and then finally stopped with an error just before finishing. After that I can update my iPod just fine with iTunes 7, I can even name it again and start adding songs(it takes forever for just one song). Even older updaters say its fine. But after unplugging it from the computer its still dead and it still displays the error icon. All that got me so confused.
I find it hard to believe that a hardware error suddenly appeared just after installing iTunes 7 and I am really hoping for any help I could get because I dont want to give up on it just yet. Thanks.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If this doesn't work and your still under warranty I would suggest sending it in
    for replacement.
You said all your music disappeared before connecting to your computer so I don't think the problem is there. The fact that it doesn't turn on at all may just be a symptom of a depleted battery or your iPod simply died.
    Good luck!

  • How can i get my contacts from textfree app if ipod wont turn on

Can i get my contacts from textfree app on my pc if ipod wont turn on?

If iTunes does not see the iPod then:
    - See if you can extrac themn from an existing backup
iPhone Backup Extractor for Windows and Mac
    - Restore an iPod 2G or later, iPhone 3G or later or an iPod from existing biPod backup. The apps have to be in the iTunes library in order to have a place for the app data to go.
