My ipod work, but my computer don't reconize it???

Hi everyone!
Tanks in advance for helping me, cause im very depressed!
My story is a bit long to explain, but i think i should details to solve the problem! (Sorry for my language, im french!)
All begin a little bit earlier today when i connect my iPod to is deck. I eard a noise that i did'nt ear before. You know when a disk skip, or something like this. And, my computer was not reading it (neither in windows or iTunes)
Then it's was impossible to disconnect my iPod.
When i finally succes to disconnect it (with Safely Remove Hardware) i was not able to turn off my iPod.
then i reset my iPod and saw the little apple. Then, a file with an ! came trought the screen.
I follow all the instruction in this site, and nothing work it out! So, i decided to erase and restore all of my iPod. but again, it was impossible to connect to my computer?!
A message occured that tell me that the formating have failed and my computer turn off by himself!
Then, i take my iPod and check if is work. All was erase...nothing was left. The i uninstall iTunes and iPod program and download the latest from apple site. Again, the computer don't reconize my iPod. When i finally remove my iPod from the computer, all my song were back.???
But, when i see the option, thats tell me that i have 3759 song, a capacity of 37,1 Gb (that was normal)but only 58 mB available. And i still can connect my iPod to my computer!
If somebody can help me before i ship my pod to apple, it will be greatful!
Tanks and sorry for the language!

When you unplug your ear phones, peek in the audio output port and look for a red light.  If so, the switch is stuck and these are the options for remedying the problem.
1. Stick the earphone plug in a few times.
2. Blow in it real hard or use compressed air.
3. Jiggle a tooth pick or the like inside the port.
If no success, then it is time for an appointment at a genius bar.
Ciao.

I have an iPod and have an account set up already with iTunes.  My friend has brand new iPod touch but no computer.   She only wants to download CDs onto iPod but I couldn't seem to do this without being prompted to set up an account or it overriding the information for my iPod - any help would be appreciated.

  • Ipod works but buttons don't :(

    Hello.
Last night I was listening to a long audio book and fell a sleep. The ipod kept playing the book the whole night and was still ongoing when I woke up.
The sound and everything was going fine but they buttons don't work! The hold button works fine and the ipod turns the backlight on each time I switch it on and off and I can see the little lock icon in the corner, so I can safely say that the ipod works fine except the buttons don't respond to anything.
I've tried the 5 steps, tried plugging it to my computer or just electricity, but nothing works and I can't let it run out of juice since it just automatically switches off because of no activity. And obviously I can't restart it since the buttons don't work.
Any ideas of how to fix it?

  • Ipod works on one computer but not the other?

Can someone please help me? My ipod works on my laptop but not the desktop. When I plug the Ipod into the desktop it sometimes shows up in Itunes but says it's corrupt. Which it obviously isn't because it works fine on it's own when not plugged into a computer and it works fine when I plug it into the laptop. Also when I looked in my computer the Ipod would show up as drive j and it would flash on and off. Well, I tried plugging the Ipod into a different port and that worked as far as drive j stopped flashing on and off. I tried changing the drive name and it wouldn't let me because it always went back to drive j even after I changed it to drive z. Itunes is playing music and is up to date. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Please help.

  • Ipod internet will not work. but my computer and other devices work

It shows that i am connected to the internet, yet it wont load any sites. It will load google. But when i go to click on a site, it'll either pop up as safari cannot open because your ipod touch isnt connected to the internet, or a server issue. Every now and then it will work, but then after a minute it will just go back to its old ways.
I've tried reconnecting and connecting the wifi on the ipod
I tried to reset network settings.
I've turned my modem on and off.
Again, it may only work for a couple minutes or so, but then itll just go back to its old ways.
My laptop, phone, and other stuff works on the wifi, I am only having the problem with the ipod.
Facebook and instagram app works also. but safari isnt

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I have an iPod Touch but I currently don't have a PC.  I found an app that would allow me to connect to my network drive and I was able to transfer music files to it.  These files do not show under the Music app and I can't find any way to do it.

I need help from some Apple people. I have an iPod Touch and I wanted to load it up with some fresh music but I currently don't have a PC. I found an app that would allow me to connect to my 2TB network drive directly and I was able to transfer a bunch of music files to the iPod. Unfortunately, these new files do not show under the Music app and I can't seem to find any way to convince the iPod that they are music. I can play them through the file manager only. Android doesn't have this problem, any music I put on my phone is recognized as music and can be played through any of the music apps. Am I missing something or is Apple to inflexible to handle this?

You can't. The only way to get songs in the Music app is to sync from a computer or to download from iTunes.

  • Ipod works but no sound

My ipod works and does all other functions but even with the volume all the way up, no music plays when my earphones are plugged in. I've checked the earphones with my other ipod and they are fine. Someone help!!! and yes I've already done the restore and made sure the software is up to date

If yo still have the problem after restoring the iPod to factory settings/new iPod that indicates a hardware problem and appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. It could be a bad headphone jack. A third-party place like the following si a lot less expensive of getting it repaired by Appe since Apple on exchanges the iPod for this price.

  • Video ipod NOTT working.. Computer won't reconize.. Ipod wont turn on..

When I selected a song on my ipod, it suddenly froze, so I reset it. Then when I attempted to turn it back on, it showed the sad ipod. Now I can't turn my ipod on, and whenever I try to it makes a.. weird noise. I went to the support section on apple, but nothing really worked, since the computer did not recgonize my ipod. Then a message popped up saying “One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.”
So, could anyone help me out here? Please?

Does it appear in the iPod Updater?
    No.
Does it appear in My Computer?
    No
    Can you restore it?
    No
    Does this help?
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
When I get to the step where you have to delete the ipod folder, a message pops up saying the access is denied, and to make sure all itunes windows are closed. They are.
Also, it is sometimes helpful to open the iPod Updater prior to connecting the iPod (if it doesn't work at first).
    Neither worked for me
If the sad face is appearing, you really need to restore it. Focus on getting it to appear in the iPod Updater rather than iTunes.
Now it shows the folder icon instead.

  • IPod Works on One Computer; Not on Other...??

iPod worked on both computers. Then something changed. Both run XP Pro; both have 7.1 iTunes. On computer that it does not work on, it does not show up in Device Manager either - no conflict shown, just no recognition that it exists...iTunes iPod diagnostics found it but shows its connection status as being failed. Other USB devices work fine and it used to work fine from the same port. No idea where to go from here...??? Already went through the uninstall/reinstall of iTunes; restoring iPod; etc. No icon down in system tray either that normally shows up telling me a USB device is connected - click to disconnect...

hmmmmm. it might be worth checking on a Windows drive letter confusion on the PC that you're having the grief with. for troubleshooting information, see:

  • My home network *works* but have I done it correctly?

    Hi,
Below is my set-up. It works, but I'm worried that I should have done it differently to get maximum performance with my hardware. I'd really appreciate someone glancing over it and letting me know whether it seems okay.
Cable internet connected wired to modem provided by ISP.
Ethernet cable to Airport Extreme (the new one)
Intel iMac Core 2 Duo (N enabled by disc included with Airport Extreme) connecting wirelessly:
    -- Radio Mode: 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)
    -- Wireless Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal
Airport Express (just used for Airtunes, and nothing else)
-- Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Is the Airport express slowing down my network? I want N speeds (just because I can) and don't need to worry about connecting any other devices (apart from the Airport Express) to the network.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
    Steve.

    I plan on getting an
iPhone anyway, when they are released in the UK, so I
guess I'm going to have to run a g compatible
    network...
Getting an iPhone is of course compulsory Steve
Check out some posts regarding running a hybrid g/n network using a spread of channels...
Might be fun (and not expensive)

  • How can I sync my ipod on a second computer, don't know how to register it.

How can I register my Ipod on a second  computer in order to sync

What you should do is copy everything currently on the iPod to your iTunes library first.  Once you have successfully done that, you can go ahead and chose Erase and Sync.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different options available for copying content from your iPod to your PC.

  • Just had ipod, was working but i've done something major to it!!!!! HELP.

I have just received my ipod (4th gen clickwheel) from ebay. I got it out of the box and all was working well. I connected it to the computer, tried updating but pressed restore by mistake. Now I have a folder and exclamation icon. The computer will not recognise it, returning a message of 'firmware update failure, disk write error'. I've tried the '5 r's' but no joy. I have itunes 4 or 4.7 and the update software is 3.0.2, 2004.08.06. Can anyone please help? A very big hopeful thanks in advance. Daz.

Have you looked at the troubleshooting document? You may get somewhere with it: "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod

  • Itunes recognizes my ipod touch, but my computer still thinks it's a camera (and the drive only has pictures as a result; no music).

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7, and wanted to transfer my music from my old laptop onto it. Itunes on my new laptop would only let me transfer purchases, and not music that I got from CDs. So, seeing as I didn't have any sort of storage device handy to back up my old itunes library onto, I decided to just transfer my music straight from my ipod touch to my new laptop. I had done this many times before both for myself and for friends, so I was familiar with the process. What you do is you make sure that hidden files can be viewed, and you select "manually manage music..etc" in itunes so your device shows up as its own drive in My Computer. Then you click on that and you should find your music folders. Unfortunately, because my computer recognizes my iPod touch as a digital camera, the folders only had my pictures, and none of my music. I tried to update the driver and change it to usbaapl, the Apple Mobile Device USB driver. However, my device manager keeps saying: "The best driver software is already installed" or something like that. The driver Windows automatically installs is MTP USB device. I've tried uninstalling it but as soon as I plug my ipod back in it just re-installs the wrong driver again. So, is there any fix to this problem or will I just have to go invest in a flash drive to transfer my music?

Startng wth the iPhone and iPod Touch,  Apple stopped supportng "disc mode" (and that's why your iPod Touch isn't "Aplle format" or "Windows format").  You access the musc, apps, calendars, etc. through iTunes, and you access the photos through the camera interface.
Windows is not "installing the wrong driver" you are just assuming that the device operates in a way that the newer devices no longer support.  There are some 3rd party aps that will allow you to sync music from your iPod to your PC, but I have never used them so I can't tell you how well they work.  I do seem to recall that XPlay2 was one of the names that supposedly supported doing that though...
