My Ipod4 won't charge, turn on or connect to my computer when I plug it into the USB port.

I plugged my Ipod 4 into the wall charger and into my mac and it wont turn on no matter what I try or do.What do I need to do to turn it back on?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My iPhone 5 Bricked after plugging it into the USB port on my AT&T car charger

I plugged my factory USB cable from my iPhone 5 into the USB port on my AT&T car charger and it killed the iPhone 5 dead. I guess I thought since Apple is making a 30 pin converter and that all of my other apple products work this way that it should work...I guess I was wrong!

    Volume problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Itunes won't recognise that I have plugged it into the USB ports.

I have checked my USB ports - and they work fine.
The only problem is that for some unexplicable reason, Itunes has just decided not to recognise that my Ipod is connected whenever I plug it into my laptop. This has just happened all of a sudden.
This very same IPOD was working fine this last month.
Can someone tell me how to get the Itunes program on my computer to recognise that my IPOD is connected so that I can add some songs to it?
I have had so many flipping IPODs break on me. This is a brand new IPOD, and I've only had it for less than a month. How can the company that make IPODs be so evil to people like me. Do they think I have money coming out between my legs? I'm so flipping fed up. I take such good care of IPOD. I never fill it up with too many songs. And for this IPOD, all I have put on it was songs bought through the Itunes website.
So can someone please tell me how to get the Itunes program on my computer to recognise that my IPOD is connected so that I can add some songs to it?
    PLEASE!

    Hi there,
have you recently updated iTunes since last month?
You maybe also want to check whether "iPodService.exe" is running. To do so, start up iTunes, press CtrlShiftDel and look in the processes (not the application-tab ) for "iPodService.exe". If it isn't listed try to start it manually.

    Hi Gammer576775!
Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue with your iPod touch:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2771
Will not power on, or will not turn on unless connected to power
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Connect the iPod touch to an Apple USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if the display turns on and…
The home screen appears, the device should be working. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen: . Then disconnect the device from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears even after the iPod touch has charged for at least 20 minutes: See the "iPod touch displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or low-battery image appears , continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPod touch did not turn on, reset it while connected to an Apple USB power adapter. If the display turns on, go to step 4.If the display remains black, go to the next step.
Restore the device. Connect it to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes it and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPod touch. If the device doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring it, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPod touch resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring it did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

I know this is old - but did you ever get this working. Thinking of getting a 780 ti card and I have an older mac with the mini-displayport too.

    - Try restoring the iPod, first from backup and then try to factory settings/new iPod to rule out a software problem.
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and broken or cracked plastic.
    - Could you have damaged something when you took the iPod apart and replaced the Home button?
