My Ipods LCD Screen Is showing Black Lines

My Ipod Video has black lines across the screen and they're getting bigger everytime I use it. This is the first problem I've had and am wondering should I buy a new one or just get it repaired.

Certainly try this first...

  • Display showing black lines

My ipod display is showing black lines. What should i do?

Have you worked through the basic 5 R's of troubleshooting yet?  If not that would be a good place to start as they can help rule out a software issue.

Otherwise, if none of those work, we know the issue is hardware related.  The LCD is probably damaged and in need or a replacement.  You can have your iPod serviced or replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

  • How come when i click on an app on my ipod the screen just stays black?

how come when i click on an app on my ipod the screen just stays black?

It can happen from time to time, especially with third-party apps, though shouldn't happen too often with the ones created by Apple, such as Safari. Turning your iPod completely off and then on again can sometimes help.

  • New LG204TW 20" widescreen monitor shows black lines ??

Yesterday I picked up the new LG L204TW widescreen monitor for my Intel Mac Mini.
The display is detected by OSX and I can run the native resolution of 1680x1050 @ 60Hz. via DVI.
But there is a sort of flickering of the screen. Actually there are black horizontal lines showing up. This happens mostly when browsing.
When I open for example a Quitime window and move the window of the playing video over the black lines, the lines are gone. So I think it is not the display itself.
Changing the resolution does not help. Any idea how this can be solved?

Hook up another monitor that you have and see if it is your mac, if it isn't your mac then take the LG screen back to the shop, ask for full refund and consider another monitor.

  • How do i connect an ipod lcd screen to a zen visio

My zen vision m lcd screen recently cracked and after getting the full run around and reading up on the net, I bought a 2.5" lcd ipod replacement screen for $0 off of ebay. I really don't watch much movies so the quality doesn't really matter as long as I can see my music and audiobooks. So here is the problem:
They both have 32 pin connectors that attach to the 32 contact ribbon connector, but the ipod ribbon is about half the size of the zen's.
I would like to connect the new screen and have a couple of options.
. connect the ipod screen ribbon to the zen's ribbon, then connect to the player.
    2. somehow solder the ipod connector to the motherboard directly
    3. solder the ipod connector to the casing on the motherboard
    Problems:
. I don't even know if the connectors go to the same places, therefore don't know if it will work even if I do figure out how to do so.
    2. I have no idea how to go about soldering ribbon connectors because the wires are so close together.
    3. Any solder job that I could do would probably preclude me from putting everything back into the player.
If anybody has any ideas (other than buy a new one or pay the ridiculous $20 to fix it) your help is much appreciated and will probably help a whole mess of people.
    Thanks in advance.

  • 4th Gen iPod LCD Screen

I'm looking to purchase a working replacement LCD screen for my 4th Gen. iPod. ipodresq.com is quoting me $145. Does anyone know any better quote?

My advice would be to save your money because before long something else in the iPod will fail. Send the broken one back to Apple for recycling. But if you really want to be a l33t haxor then see if you can find the make and model number of the screen and then search for it on Digikey. But you'll be lucky if you can buy just one piece from them. Another option would be to search ebay for dead iPods that have intact screens.
    good luck!

  • My 2nd generation iPod nano screen is showing lines and I cannot see the whole menu. How can I fix this problem?

I believe that my wife disconnected the iPod nano (2nd Gen.) improperly and now the screen has a whole bunch of lines. I can see the screens moving when I move to the next screen. But it's just lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well unfortunatley your warranty is over so the device is not covered,  BUT sounds like you have interupting signals being sent from a stuck home button constantly being pressed and maybe even a digitizer problem (the touch screen).  You can try to restore your ipod to your computer to see if it might be some kind of software related issue.  Just restore to the last sync you have on iTunes.  But FIRST...I would try to Reset your ipod.
Go to Settings>General>Reset> Reset all settings.

  • Black video ipod lcd screen discolored, no cracks--applecare?

When I looked at my ipod a few days ago all of a sudden i couldn't read the screen and there is a huge dark spot in the upper right and no color in the rest. What I need to know is whether I can send it in to applecare or not. I have the warranty but on the submit a claim page it says don't send in cracked lcds or anything of that nature. soo if there's anyone that could provide me with a sure answer...
can I submit my screen-damaged ipod with no cracks to applecare?
    Thanks
    -John

if you send it in and you are within your 6 months it will not hurt. you will just recieve it back if they determine if it was accidental damage. if you are outside of your 6 months then you will at least have to pay for shipping

  • Ipod touch screen frozen with vertical lines

I tried syncing my ipod and updating and while this happened the syncing kept stopping and then it said I needed to restore. While i was restoring my ipod touch froze. I was finally able to turn it off then turn it back on again and I tried to restore it again and then these vertical lines on the screen showed up and now it is frozen again. My ipod isnt in warranty anymore and nothing has happened to it, it was working perfectly fine before i started to sync it.

See if Apple would be nice enough to replace it anyway. You must have had it for quite a while if it is out of warranty, so these problems usually do happen on older devices. You could really benefit from a new iPod touch.

I have done everything to get my ipod nano 2 gen to reboot, I did a factory restore and it shows fine in itunes, however it remains black and doesn't respond to any of the rebooting suggestions. what could be the problem? it has been charging for some time so dont think its the battery, also shows up ok in finder.

  • HT1320 ipod nano screen as gone black

this morning the girlfriend took her ipod with her for her run but there was no screen but music was still playing, tried the two button reset but mno luck
done factory reset on my mac tonight but still a black screen.
has anyone out there got any ideas or is it a repair job ?

Trying restoring the iPod. This process wipes all content from the iPod, resets all settings back to their defaults, and reloads a fresh copy of the iPod's software onto the device. This would rule out the possiblity of data corruption or a software glitch on the device.
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
Otherwise, the backlight may have burned out or come into contact with moisture and shorted. You'll need to have the iPod serviced or replaced either by Apple or a 3rd party service.
