Power button not responding, can't login

I have a late model 15" macbook pro with Retina display.
Periodically the computer will lock up when I open the cover. It is displaying the login screen and will allow me to type in my password but then nothing happens.
The main issue however is that I cannot reboot the computer. The power button (built into the keyboard) does not respond. I have pressed and held it for up to a minute with no response. Likewise, no other keystroke combination that I've tried works either.
I have remote login enabled and I can ping the computer and even start an SSH session, but the computer never responds.
My only alternative has been to take this to my Apple tech who then unscrews the back (**** pentalobe screws) and pulls the battery cable. This is the second time this computer has locked up on the login screen in 2 days.
Any help is appreciated. Ask any questions, I will try and answer in an effort to resolve this.

Update:
My phone did work fine with everything as far as I could tell for about an hour. Now it turned itself off with over 90% battery and the power button won't turn it back on.
Holding Home and Power button just made it turn back on.

Nokia 6220c power button not responding

Hi,
I have a Nokia 6220c that i have used for abuot 6 months, since then i have upgraded to a newer n82. However having a look back at the 6220c before giving it to my brother, i realised that the power button does not respond.
I know there has been a history with this phone and a stiff power button, so i removed the silver outlining and attempting to press the button with my fingernail and still no success.
The phone charges fine and the screen goes on when the charger is plugged and when any button is pressed (except the power button), however it's just the plainwhite screen with the battery in the top right.
Anyways is there any way i can get the phone on or any other methods i should try, has this happened to anyone or is there a way i could change firmware to maybe the red button? If theres no solution I will have to send this back to Nokia which will be a massive hassle.

Not sure but try this before going to Nokia Care.
.After taking a backup of all you images & videos (i'm assuming you've turned the sync on with skydrive for settings & other data) & keeping a list of all your apps, Reset he phone. If this does not work then only solution will be Nokia Care Centre.

IPod Center Button Not Responding

I have a relatively new 80GB iPod that I bought on 8/15/07. Over the past couple of days, I notice that it does not respond well when I press the center button to get it out of sleep mode. I have to press the button over and over again before it finally wakes up. Each day, I find I'm having to press it more times.
Does anyone know what this means?

but perhaps its the best, maybe you should send your iPod in for a warranty repair, you have the right you know?, those ***** can't tell you otherwise, but i understand you use it for your work, hey, by the way, how can i do that?, i could use the ipod as a recorder too
If you choose not to send it in, you could make worse, imagine, youre pressing the button and suddenly pops out, that's not a warranty covered defect, in fact, they wont take it anymore because they'll think you dropped the iPod or something

I Have my own Early 5th gen 30 GB iPod, and indeed it has failed from time to time, but i found out that sometimes Resets and things like that actually are needed for a maintenance on a regular basis, so i do not blame apple for it, ENTIRELY, i live in Venezuela, its like 4500 miles off the U.S, believe me, if my iPod failed like that i would have more trouble than you do hahahahahahaha, no offense...

Macbook Pro 13'' Early 2011 Power Button not responding properly after spilled drink.

I've spilled beer on my old macbook last december. I've reassembled pretty much the whole mac, cleaned the motherboard with Servisol (isopropyl alcohol) and applied new thermal compound. The mac is working (if turned on from the motherboard, however the power button doesn't work properly. If pressed several times, sometimes it either changes the brightness of the screen or takes you to the widgets.
The keyboard was disassembled and cleaned and everything else apart from left shift and power button appears to be working on the keyboard. The keyboard was disassembled soon after the spillage, which was few months ago.
As it was few months ago when I cleaned the keyboard, I''ve forgot whether the power button is a part of the keyboard or an individual module. Could anyone give me some advice on that? Any other suggestions regards to the power button?
Another problem I've encountered recently is lost administrator account (after an attempt to turn the mac on). I can only access the guest account, my main account doesn't even appear on the launch. I can still see the administrator's files, but can't access them as they're locked. Is there a way to get back the account or access the files from the computer?

If no luck there, your Mac has a one year hardware warranty and I would contact AppleCare.

Satellite S50T-A - power button not responding

Hi,
I'm running Windows 8.1. After most recent Windows update and then restart, the computer froze at Toshiba splash screen. Fan went into overdrive and so I pushed power button.
Now, appears dead - no response from power button, black screen, no HDD sound. Only signs of life are power and battery leds on front of computer. Pushing and holding power button for more than 10 secs does nothing.
Any ideas?

The force shutdown switch (hole) is available at the bottom of the notebook.
In case of PC is freezing, not booting or has a power failure, which cannot be fixed by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds (force shutdown), please use the force shutdown switch

Cinema Display Power Light Suddenly Not On & Power Button Not Responding

So, I've had major problems with my G5 which Apple diagnosed as being the board (and then the video card etc...). They gave me a $700 credit towards a new machine (I got a new MacBook Pro) but before I put the old G5 up for sale I wanted to try pulling some of the RAM to see if the problem was just faulty RAM. I pulled a gb from OWC I put in after purchasing the machine. Pressed power and I got the start-up chime which I haven't been able to get forever, AND the fans didn't go into turbo mode like it did before. BUT, my display which I had left plugged in for the last 6 months and whose power button has been continually lit up with the machine unplugged.......now won't light. What happened? Please HELP!!!

Happened to me last week and I did eveything possible to investigate if my power unit was broken, cable damaged, fuse blown etc. In the end I simply reset the PRAM and as if by magic the Cinema Disply came back. The main button on the front of my Iphone4 only works about 30% of the time. Restarting the phone does not help. I can push and push and it won't exit the app I am in.
Any suggestions?

Media buttons not responding when music is playing in background

Hi All,
I have listened to some music today on my Curve 8520 and I just realized a problem.
When I play the music, I'll go back to the home screen, while music is still playing the background, i tried to pause the music using play/pause button at the top of the phone but it didnt work, so i tried the other two button which is the previous and next track button, they both dont work either.
So I go back to now playing part on my phone, so i can see my music playing, and then I tried the top 3 media button and it all works fine so I know there isnt any wrong with the buttons themselve.
Does any one know why when the music is playing in the background, the top 3 media buttons doesn't work?
