My iTouch 3rd Gen won't connect to my iHome iH15

I've also tried updating it, but all I get is an error message. I have the 32 GB so I've seen some replies on here that it is possible to update past 4.2.1. It's frustrating that I cannot find a solution to this problem. HELP PLEASE!!

What error message are you getting?
Apple made both 2G and 3G iPods with 32 B capacity.  So yours could be either.  What model number is engraved on the back?
iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318. SOme non-North American iPod have different model numbers.
If your iPod has neither number, enter the SN here:
Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage
Did you iPod ever cnnect to the iHome?
Does the iPod work OK otherwise?
Does it charge when connected to the iHome
Do the specs for the iHome say it is compatible?
DOes it look/feel like the iPid seats fully in the iHome?

  • My iPod touch 3rd Gen won't connect to my PC?

Okay, A while ago my iPod stopped being detected for no reason in iTunes, I think it was a little after I updated. (To the latest version as of 20th Sept. 2011) What happens is, I plug it in and it will charge but the computer doesn't detect it. There is no Apple mobile USB driver thingy in the device manager and in the services manager it says that the Apple Mobile Device service is set to automatically start but it doesn't list it as started because it needs another service or application to run it. I have re-installed iTunes, I have installed and uninstalled each individial component of the iTunes installer. I can't update drivers in the device manager because it says there are none to update. As a last resort I tried a suggestion I read somewhere else  to factory restore it and now it's stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen like it was when I 1st bought it. I have been trawling the internet for a fix but everywhere I go all say just update the driver, but as I said I cannot do this. Anybody got any ideas? Please and thankyou in advance.
    Notes;
I am using Windows 7x64 Ultimate
I have tried the iPod on my parents laptop, no luck.
I have tried connecting my parents iPod via my USB and it picked it up just fine so it's not a cable issue.
My iPod is out of warranty so a repair by Apple is out of the question.
If it makes a difference, my motherboard is an ASUS ROG Maximus IV Extreme-Z (Just in case its a USB port fault)

  • (refurbished) iPod touch 3rd gen won't connect to internet?? Help.

I ordered this iPod factory refurbished from Apple a week and a half ago. The wireless is working fine, I've been using it on my laptop all day and there's no password on it. My iPod says it's connected to the network in the settings and it's got the little wireless signal symbol on the top of the screen, and it's got perfect signal. But when I try to access any app that uses the internet or safari, it says I'm not connected. I've restored it to factory settings and that didn't work, and I've tried multiple times forgetting the network and reconnecting. Nothing's working. My nearest apple store is a ridiculous drive.

I'm not sure what type of router you are connecting to but chances are it isn't an Apple Airport Express.
Anyway, the connection details are telling you that your router is not supplying you with an IP address, subnet mask, or DNS IP address. We need to know a bit more about your setup to make a completely accurate set of suggestions, but I'll give you some general hints on how to get this working.
    1. Reboot your router (just unplug the power cord)
    2. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. When your touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security settings, and network password.
If you appear to be connected, tap Settings > WiFi > and the little blue > next to your network name. If everything is OK, you will have an IP address other than the 169.x.x.x address you had, a full subnet mask address, the router IP address, and the DNS address.
If you still have the 169.x.x.x address - possible reasons are:
    1. You are using WEP. Apple devices are picky about how WEP is implemented. Try using the WEP key value in place of the network password. Better still, change your encryption to WPA2-psk and pick a good 8 character or more password.
    2. Your router is really old or the firmware is way out of date. Go the makers website and download the latest firmware for the router and install it.

  • ITouch 3rd gen. won't hold songs or vid.

I upgraded to the new osi-whatever on my iPod Touch, but after I did that, I lost all my songs and videos! I can't find them, but my iPod search says that I still have them installed. I even tried re-buying them. I have now spent almost $35 in songs, and still nothing! Any ideas?? I don't care if I have to re-re-buy all my songs, I just want the ability to HOLD songs again! (I'm assuming that it's the same for video, because those disappeared, too.)

If you are saying that your iPod had no content after upgrading this may help:

  • Apple TV (3rd gen) won't turn on...please help

My Apple TV (3rd gen) won't connect to my TV. It blinks 3 times, so i tried to reset it, but nothing happened. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem. Thanks.

Can someone please help me? My apple tv (3rd gen) continues to blink 3 times and won't respond. I've tried doing different things that I've read through the manuel & forms: (1) holding down menu and FF for 6 seconds to pair the remote (2) unplugging the apple tv and waiting 30 seconds
After apple tv was unplugged, it looked fine when it turned back on...but, once again the same problem remains and my apple tv remote will not work.
Hopefully, someone can help me solve this problem.
    Thanks.

  • Facetime on itouch 3rd gen

Hi im wondering if there is going to be a facetime app for the itouch 3rd gen? that will be able to connect to a computer with a webcam!! something like the icam app. Do you think this will ever happen??

I doubt it since the earlier iPod do not have a camera. The FaceTime Beta app for Intel Mac computers will not install if the computer does not have a camera.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

    - Have you tried when connected to other networks?  Maybe the router is blocking the ports used by Safari and the other apps.
    - What kind of network are you using? a personel or bussines?
