My Itouch 5th gen is having CHARGING PROBLEMS

Anyways, my Itouch is really giving me a headache.
When I need to charge, I have to find a certain angle until it charges so it takes a lot of my time.
I thought that it was my usb dock at fault but I believe it isn't.
I tried my friend's charger and i still had to find that certain angle or position until it charges.
Same goes with my laptop. If I want it to connect properly, it needs a certain angle or else it'll pop up some
Message that the power in the usb hub port is over used. Something like that.
What may be the problem? Help me PLEASE. I cried a while ago because it took me a longer time than usual
To charge and it's making me so frustrated. THANKS!

- Try another cable. Could be the cable dise a bad cable can give yo the ove rcurrent/overpower error.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

Itouch 5th gen was working fine then I shut it off and it wont turn on. tried itunes and when its siting here it heats up badly

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The hotness indicates a possible hardware problem. If the iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost

  • 5th gen shock while charging

My 5th gen Touch has a problem with the casing becoming live. It's not enough to be painful, but a slight "fizzing" can be felt. I'm using the supplied charger and lightening cable.
Is it a common problem to the cable or iPod?
Is this going to deteriorate until it is dangerous?
Is it a fire risk (for convenience I charge overnight)?

Hey Toad, your description sound like a grounding issue, a short. There is a history with lighting cables failing, shorting out. Stop using the cable you have, try another cable. If the shocking continues with a new cable, have your iPod evaluated by Apple. Good luck, Cheers.

Since we are all only end users like you, we would know of no such information, and it's again the Terms of Use of these forums to speculate about future Apple products.

  • 5th Gen Ipod Classic Charging and Connecting problem. Battery has been changed and no improvement.

I have a 5th gen classic 30 GB ipod, that will not charge with an adaptor or USB 2.0  It also will not display the "Do not  disconnect" when connected to a USB 2.0 conector and is not being picked up by my computer (Windows Vista).  It was originally on a XP computer years ago.   Battery change did not help.  I have a lot of music I would like to get off of it, but my computer will not recognize and the new battery is draining down. Help me.

there is also the posibility of it being fried
have you considered sending it for diagnostics?
the online place I use (digiexpress) charges $25 for diagnostics and estimate,
if you decide to have it fixed, they then add the cost of parts, or ship it back unfixed.
labor is included in the $25 fee
My classic had 2 batterises changed by myself to no avail, until I decided to send it in to realize the board was fried. waste of money changing batteries, iPod went to the recycling bin. now i leave it to the pros and actually save $$.

  • My iPod 5th gen won't charge:'(

As stated in the tittle my iPod won't charge. I have looked at a lot of the similar posts but none of them are helpful. I can NOT get into DFU mode, I HAVE read both iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting and iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery pages, I HAVE tried another cable and another wall charger, I HAVE checked all connections/sockets on the iPod, cord, and wallcharger for debree, rust, or other forign materials, and I HAVE tried plugging it into my computer.
Just for clarification, my sister has an iPod 5th gen with the iOS 7.0.4 and her iPod charges on both mine and her cable/wallcharger/computer BUT my iPod does not charge on any combination of those. The nearest apple store is 1hr 29mins from me (I checked!)
Usually computers and tech do not elude my deductive skills but this has me stumped! Please help! Any of such is greatly appriecated!

Mine had been fading for a while before the warranty was up, and then became mostly unchargeable in the eleventh month.
I took it to a Genius bar where they were able to test it and swap it for a new iPod touch.
Just make sure you have done a very careful backup before you go, I have had weird sync problems after the swap, getting my stuff back.
I suggest the simplest method is to clear off just about everything you can, especially the photos. Less to chase when things go pear shaped.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen. Not Charging!

    Hello darlings,
ill just cut to the chase with what i need help with! My ipod touch 5th generation, which ive had for nearly 4 months now no longer charges! When i plug it into a wall socket it doesnt charge, when i plug it into my laptop it doesnt charge, it just doesnt charge. Well, heres the creepy thing it sort of charges even though it doesnt show its charging. Im thinking its because the cord is still getting the electricity and is transferring it to the ipod but the lightning outlet(bottom of ipod) is just having connection problems. I used to be able to blow in the lightning connector a little bit and it would charge, then i had to start sucking out a bit and blow then it would charge, kind of like i was getting dust/lint out of it, but now nothing works. I cant connect iit to my laptop, which i have to do because i am sending my ipod to apple and wantmy photos off before it is wiped clean. So in other words it is charging(REALLY slowly) but is having connectivity problems. PLEASE HELP!

  • 5th gen wont hold charge!

I have a 30gb 5th gen, its around 3 years old (so, out of warranty), and for the last week it has been refusing to charge. When i put it on my Logitech speakers it is fully functional and the battery symbol says it is charging, but no matter how long i leave it on there it dies the second i take it off! my laptop has also stopped recognising it when i plug in to the usb. I have read lots of posts from people with the same problem but have still not found a definitive answer. Is there a solution or is my ipod officially dead?

    Time for a new battery.

My ipod 5th generation will not charge, I have 4 different chargers that I have tried 2 of which have adapters on them hanging them from 4th gen ipod chargers to 5th. I now know that it is a problem with my ipod. Has anyone experienced the same problem?  And is it fixable?
