My itouch is getting stalled during sync at step 2 of 6, what can I do to resolve? I have the latest update of Itunes software.
You will need to troubleshoot your security software. Examples would be you Antivirus, Antispyware, AntiAdware, Firewall, and some PC maintence programs. You should first turn off / disable security software and retest. If the issue persists updating your security software may resolve issue but you will likely have to remove the software completely and restart the computer. For Advanced users that are; torrenting, blocking updates or activations. You will need to make sure the "Hosts" file is not blocking Apple sites listed in HT3204. Security software usually controls this file and manually modifying is beyond what the average user can do. For some other options; you can try connecting to a different Internet / Network connection, Try a different User account or computer, and go to the Apple store. The Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adaptor will only pass video in most cases. You will need to run a separate audio cable along with it. Likely a 3.5mm (male-to-male) cable. Or a 3.5mm (male) to red/white RCA (male) cable. Just depends on what audio input ports your TV has dedicated to the HDMI input.

We have 3 kids with an ipod touch each. All are on one apple id (mine, so they have to come to me to authorise purchases) and they complain that they get each others messages, apps etc. What can I do to set this up differently, so they can each manage their own content etc but not make purchases?
Go onto all iPods, and turn on "Restrictions" and disable installing apps. The apps do auto download, and the only way around the messages problem is to make 3 Apple IDs. When installing apps, it will ask for a "restrictions" password, and you can enter that.

I found this article while researching iTunes quitting unexpectedly on Windows 7 and feel it will help to resolve the issue here.

It starts with troubleshooting 3rd party plug ins, then moves on to account troubleshooting if needed.
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any inference with plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down the Shift and Control keys while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
After clicking Continue, determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you see the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the Create a New User Account section below. If you do not experience the same issue, consult iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-insfor steps on how to remove third-party plug-ins.

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
