My itouch is not recognized by my computer, device manager or itunes!

My itouch is not recognized by my computer, device manager or itunes. However, it will charge on a wall charger. I'm not able to upload any of my music to my itouch now because its not recognized. Ive tried connecting to 3 other computers and used 2 other cords, but the itouch still isn't recognized by any of them. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all of my apple programs and it's still not working. Any ideas?

  • Why does my IPod not appear in Compter or Device Manager or ITunes using Windows 7?

My 5th generation IPod does not appear on ITunes.  Likewise, it does not appear in my OS Windows 7 in the folder:  Computer nor does it appear in the window:  Device Manager.  Is this because Windows 7 does not recognize the IPod?  I've had my new computer (1TB, Win. 7, etc) for several months which replaced an older computer with OS Win. XP.  The IPod worked fine on XP and I suspect Win. 7 is the issue here?  Correct?  Windows 7 doesn't recognize several devices and feel like it's planned obsolescence!  What is the alternative here if it's Win 7?  I have no plans/interest to buy a new IPod, btw!

    Hello Gary,
I would be concerned too if my iPod was no longer recognized by iTunes.  I found an article with steps to assist with getting iTunes to recognize your iPod on a Windows computer:

  • My iTouch is not recognized by my computer.

I've been trying to sync my 1st generation iTouch to my Dell Inspiron (I think it's a e1705) laptop for awhile. Originally, I was able to plug in my iPod without any problem and connect it to iTunes. However, in the middle of while I was syncing, the iPod randomly disconnected itself and I got a message that said "USB device not recognized." I have 2.0 USB ports and the latest version of iTunes. Now, my iPod will only stay connected to my computer if it's completely dead, but then it'll disconnect itself when it has charged a little while and has enough battery life to power itself up. Then I get the same error message. I've already tried removing Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes and reinstalling them...no luck.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the device itself, because I've been able to charge it and sync a couple of songs to it on my desktop computer. I'd use that computer to sync everything instead, but the majority of my music and movies are already on my laptop. I've tried homesharing already but I think my connection on my laptop is too slow because it's been taking forever to just transfer one song.
    Any suggestions!?

  • I replaced the hard drive to a 30gig on my Ipod 4th gen. click wheel but it is still not recognized on my computer or in itunes......I get an error message with a folder and "!"....what can I do to fix??

I replaced the hard drive to a 30gig on my Ipod 4th gen. click wheel but it is still not recognized on my computer or in itunes......I get an error message with a folder and "!"....what can I do to fix??

Have you recharge the battery for at least 2 hours, or just leave it connected for 4 hours?
(When you replaced the Hardisk, you should also replace the battery.)
Some other iPod SSD sites, says that you may have to format the CF in FAT32, as Mac dont read NTFS drive so if Windows is the 1st PC that your CF is connected, it may be formatted to NTFS.
You can try erasing the CF using Disk Utilty, so that Mac can recognise it. (but not Windows)
    Have a nice day!

  • My iPod Shuffle 4th generation 2GB is not recognized by My Computer in Windows or under Devices in iTunes.

Everyone has the same problems. My iPod has been plugged in properly, I have followed all the support suggestions but nothing works. HELP PLEASE!

I have downloaded that utility but can not use it, as
when I plug the shuffle into the USB port, it is not
recognized by either computer I am using. I can not
reset or restore, because in order to do that the
computer would have to know the shuffle is plugged in
and it doesnt. I have tried this on two different
computers and get the same result, so I dont think
its a computer issue, its an ipod issue. I also used
to be albe to play the shuffle on the Xbox 360 and
    now can not.
Just as a check, did you actually follow the THESE directions...EXACTLY?
    Using iPod shuffle Reset Utility
    1. Quit all running applications on your computer.
    2. Open the iPod shuffle Reset Utility.
    3. Connect iPod shuffle to a USB port on your computer. Do not connect iPod shuffle to a USB port on your keyboard or other non-powered USB hub.
    4. Click the Restore button. If prompted, enter an Admin user name and password.
    5. The restore process will start.
    6. When it is complete, quit iPod shuffle Reset Utility and open iTunes to sync music to your iPod shuffle.

  • Ipod nano and shuffle are not recognized by my computer or itunes

When I plug in the ipod, both the nano 6th generation and the shuffle, the device is not recognized by my computer or itunes.  It will be recognized by my computer for a few seconds and then disappears.  The device will show up on the right side of the screen in itunes but not on the left.  The troubleshooter tells me it is a compatability issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, i have turned off the compatabilty mode, nothing works.

What displays on the iPods screen when you have it connected?  I assume you have tried another known working USB cable?
Is iTunes up do date on your PC (currently at 10.7)?
Have you tried connecting to another PC or Mac?

  • My iPod classic is not recognized by my computer or iTunes

My iPod is not recognized by my computer or iTunes. It worked fine a few months ago but now it doesn't even sync. I tried everything from turning it on/off, reinstalling iTunes, checking the connectivity issues and etc. After going through the connectivity test the only thing I found odd was that it said that the iPod classic running firmware 1.1.2 is not connected. Could that be the issue? And if so, how can I get that firmware running again?

I have the same issue with my ipod classic, and have gone through these steps. However, when i come to the step where it says to reinstall: "
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab.   iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you. "
there is no ipod listed in the source list to check for any updates under the summary tab. Itunes just DOES NOT see the ipod at all. And this is where I am stuck....further instructions PLEASE!!! Thank you....

  • Ipod shuffle is not recognized by any computer or itunes

I have a first gen. ipod shuffle. It does not show up in Windows or Itunes on two different computers. The original problem was that it would not skip to the next song. • My ipod not recognized by the computer or itunes?

Ok, the iPod works fine playing music and watching videos and everything else it is supposed to, and it charges fine. But when i plug it up my PC to sync new music, the screen on the iPod does like normal and goes to the gray and orangeish screen that says Connected, then immediately says Disconnecting iPod and shows the little progress bar as if you had ejected it. How can it do this on it's own before anything has recognized it?
I have done everything that the Support on here has said, the 5 r's and all that, and nothing. Checked device manager on my computer and it actually says that is is plugged up and recognized, but has a yellow exclamation point beside it. The properties of it says this error...
"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)"
These errors occurred two days again until now, i have made no recent updates on my computer or iPod to have damaged anything but these problems randomly occur. it's really odd and if someone could help me it would be great.

Have you carefully worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?

first: why did you download the iOS Beta 8? If you are a developer, go to the Apple Developers website and check what they can do for your case.
second: setup an appointment to a Genius Bar for service.

  • Ipod Nano not recognized on my computer

My iPod Nano doesn't show up on My Computer or in the ITunes store under devices.
A popup recommends reconnecting the device but it does not help.  It then says to uninstall and reinstall Itunes.
This device used to be recognized on a different pc but we changed out pcs.  Is a Nano only supposed to be recognized on only one Pc?

Try one or more of the following
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes - Windows XP | Windows Vista or 7 | Mac OS X
    > Reset iPod (will not delete everything)
    > Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista or 7) and see if iDevice shows
    > Restore iPod (will delete everything)
    > Make sure iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up to date

I have done all the troubleshoots and reset functions but my iPod shuffle is still not working. Every time I plugged my iPod it only shows red light that lasts for about 3 seconds and will disappear after some time. I've been using the same computer and laptop back then, and it stopped working since the last week of October.
