My itouch only plays clips of songs

when i sync my itouch it plays parts of songs. when i check the song in my itunes it will play the whole song all the way through. when i play it on my itouch it will be like 30 seconds of a song then stop and go to the next song. some songs play longer then others and some songs play

I have the exact same problem on my touch. It does it to the same songs everytime. If I forward to a point past where it jumps, it will play the whole thing. I was going to try to restore it, but I don't want to lose all my data.

    Shows the following information:
    Kind: AAC audio file
Size: 3.3 MB ............ (varies per song)
    Bit Rate: 128kbps

Does any of this mean mean anything regarding the problem?
All it shows is that the tracks SHOULD be OK.
Next thing to try is to restore her shuffle in iTunes and reload.

  • Apple TV will only play the first song on an album, why?

When I press play on an album (music), Apple TV only play the first song, then it stops. Why?? I can understand it when I press play on a spesific song/track, but when I press play on an entire album, I want Apple TV to play the entire album.

You need to put checkmarks in front of all your music.

  • HELP...only playing a few songs

I use my ipod on a daily basis and when I have it on shuffle it only plays about 15 songs out of the 250 I have on it. How can I fix this problem? Please let me know ASAP! Thanks

this happened to mine too! i took it in to the apple store and what the girl said was that you have to individually drag each song over to your ipod when its plugged in because some of the songs that you have may be defected, whether it be from downloading elsewhere or just a defective song. But you drag them over and if you dont see the song transferring on top where the song information usually is when it plays, then its a defective song and you have to delete it. Its a pain in the butt at first, but then its better once it over and done with. By the way, you have to click "manually transfer" on the screen when you click on your ipod or it wont work. Just do this with every song, and itll be good to go!

since there is no info in your profile, which ma model, os, which iTunes you are using, limits anybody from delving deeper into your problem.
Update your profile, you will probably get more help.

  • My ipod shuffle only plays the first songs on the list.

My ipod shuffle only plays the first songs on the list even though it has several more podcasts in it. it only plays a series of podcasts instead of all of them. My older shuffle never had this problem. How can I solve this?

Your older shuffle, if 1st or 2nd gen, did not have the ability to play from multiple playlist.  It was essentially just ONE playlist that you loaded manually using iTunes.  A very simple device.  With the new shuffle, it works more like the "bigger" iPods and you can load more than one playlist (so it is more complex), but if you select a specific playlist (using VoiceOver), it works like the old shuffle.
My ipod shuffle only plays the first songs on the list even though it has several more podcasts in it.
That is probably because you are playing songs from the All Songs list, instead of choosing a specific playlist using VoiceOver.  Podcasts do not play from the All Songs list.
it only plays a series of podcasts instead of all of them.
If you use VoiceOver to select a podcast, it only plays episodes from that particular podcast.
Here's what you can do, to make it work like your old shuffle.  Create a new regular playlist in iTunes, and name it something like "iPod Podcasts" or whatever you want.  Treat that new playlist like your old shuffle.  Manually add the podcast episodes you want on the shuffle, in the order you want to hear them, on that playlist.  NOTE:  You can adjust the playlist order after adding the podcast episodes.
Select the shuffle in iTunes.  You see a row of "tabs" (buttons) starting with Summary.  Click Podcasts there.  This is the Podcasts tab, where you set up how iTunes syncs podcasts.  Check the box for Sync Podcasts.  Below that, since you have a playlist with the podcasts you want on the shuffle, you only need to go to the list under Include Episodes from Playlists and checkmark that iPod Podcasts playlist.
When you click Apply, the episodes on that playlist sync to the shuffle.  Going forward, to update the podcasts on the shuffle, update that iPod Podcasts playlist (add and remove episodes) in iTunes.  Then, the next time you connect the shuffle, iTunes automatically updates the shuffle with the same changes.  If the shuffle is already connected, click the Sync button to update.
When using the shuffle, set the shuffle's power switch to the play-in-order (middle) position.  Podcasts are skipped on playlists, if the power switch is set to shuffle.  Use VoiceOver to switch to that iPod Podcasts playlist.  The podcast episodes should play in playlist order.
NOTE:  You can load songs in the same way.  Create an "iPod Songs" playlist in iTunes, with the songs you want on the shuffle.  Go to the shuffle's Music tab, and select that playlist.  And audiobooks on the Books tab.  You can load as many playlists as you want.  The big advantage of the new shuffle is that you can have different types of content and keep them organized on separate playlists.
Here's information about VoiceOver, in case it is not already set up.

  • ITouch only plays first song that I touched.

I cannot play any other songs in Music. Only the first song I touched yesterday will play. Any other album/song I touch stays grey. It will not forward to the next song on the same album. I tried shuffle, but it only shuffles the same song. It is not on repeat either. I have turned iTouch on and off. Am I doing something wrong? Please help. Everything else works fine.

when you select a song and tap the screen you see a play button, next and previous songs buttons and thane in the top left corner there is the repeat icon and in the left is the shuffle. if the icon is blue it is activated

  • My IPod   will only  play the same song in the playlist. What is  happening?

My Ipod  will only play one song (over and over) in  a play list. It was workig fine and then  all of a sudden it continues to repeat. Please  help.
    Rita

Go to settings on the ipod itself and make sure on the option Repeat, it doesn't say "One". If it does, click on it until it's says "All" or "Off" - depending on what you prefer. If it isn't on repeat, reset it -if you haven't already; but that's usually everyone's first instinct when there's a problem so I assume you already have. If none of this works, you may have to restore it. If restoring it is something you want to leave as an absolute last resort, go to an apple store or something and ask a professional.
    Hope this helps

  • Only playing portions of songs?

I would like to know if it is possible to shuffle through a playlist only playing portions of each song? I have 40 songs I would like the group to hear pieces of. I only have about 45 minutes so I would like to it randomly shuffle through a minute or so of each song. Is this possible?

    Here's how to do that:
Right click a song. Choose the "Get Info" option. Choose the "Options" tab.
From here, you can choose a start time and end time of the song. Choose lots or choose little, choose beginning, middle, end, or anything else. It's an awesome feature!
I often use this to cut out silly song intros that I really don't want to hear.

  • I have iTunes Match. When selecting to play an album on Apple TV it will only play the first song not the entire album. How do i fix

I need help with playing full albums on my Apple TV through iTunes Match. When I select an album to play it only lays the first song.

if it's not iphone4s or later it does not support airplay mirror

  • Match only plays half the song on my iphone

I use itunes match on my iphone but some of the songs are only half downloaded.  It will play half the song and then skip to the next one but it appears on the screen that the first song is still playing.

When I encounter glitches like this the first thing I always try is to force quit the Music app. See if that helps.

  • Shuffle only plays half a song

Help-my shuffle only plays if I hit rewind. Halfway through the song it quits and only restarts if I start over several minutes later. It is unresponsive until that time.

What I would try first is deleting that song (assuming what you're talking about is happening with a specific song), then refilling the shuffle so as to overwrite the memory that was used by the song (prevent the song in question from being reloaded). If this works, you should be able to reload the song in question later and have it work. (The assumption behind this is the file on the shuffle has somehow gotten corrupted.)
If that doesn't work, I'd restore the shuffle.
    Good luck

  • My ipod touch will only play the same song over and over unless you manually fast forward?

My ipod touch will not shuffle through the songs. It just plays the same song over and over.  All that shows at the top is the info picture.  How do I fix this?

    Do this:
    Play a song.
Tap the screen once so you see the scrubber.
To the left of the scrubber, there's a set of two arrows going in a circle - if it's blue, it's set to repeat.
Click on it once to make it white - no repeat.

  • Ipod only plays non-itunes songs...

Anyone else have this issue or know how to remedy it? My ipod skips every song EXCEPT for those I did not download on my itunes, rather had sent to me via email or uploaded from a CD. What on earth? Email me, if you have any ideas/suggestions... thanks!

First, make sure you've played these purchased songs in iTunes before you transfer them to your iPod.
If you've done this and they still skip, de-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then to re-authorize it. You do this by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, then the computer will be authorized again. Sync you iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes (4.9).

  • Some of my music downloads from the istore are only playing half the song.  why is that happening?

how can I correct this problem?  In fact I have even paid for them twice and they still play only half the song.

I have two recent purchases that stop with just a minute or two to go, so I'm going to follow this conversation, too.
