I updated my iTouch and it will not "restore." Keep getting the error message the the iPod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily busy.

Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

Cannot Publish. Error Message: "MobileMe servers are busy."

Hi,
I have been trying to publish my site every day for about a week now with no luck. I get the same error message each time:
iWeb couldn’t publish to MobileMe.
The MobileMe servers are busy.
Please try again in a few minutes.
I've already tried:
Closing iWeb, restarting computer, logging out via system preferences, trying to log in using bogus username and password, then logging in properly. Have also tried resetting my password and logging in with the new one. Have checked my account is up to date etc.
Any suggestions?

I've been trying to update my website for the last couple days with iWeb. I finish updating it, click Publish...it takes about 5 minutes to finish creating the sites...then as it works on uploading everything (the little timeclock ticks down on the left frame) and then an error pops up saying: "iWeb couldn't publish to MobileMe. The MobileMe servers are busy. Please try again in a few minutes."
I've tried multiple times in the course of a couple hours. I've also tried on different days over the course of a week. I can't imagine the servers are always busy...
Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the help but I still got nowhere! In desperation I tried loading one page at a time and finally got the whole site uploaded. There were errors in some of the dragged items so I deleted them and once the page was loaded, added the deleted items again. I am now up and running but the site is sooooo slow! I ran into the original problem because I was trying to speed it up by saving it to a local folder. I'm scared to try that again. I am having trouble understanding the instructions. Can you help?
These are the instructions:-
Publish your website to MobileMe from the iWeb application. When finished, go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and drag your web folder into Home Folder/Sites.
If later, you make changes to a file, for example to "Welcome.html", then you only have to drag this file and the Welcome_files folder to your desktop and replace the same stuff in your web folder with the dragged stuff. If this procedure leads to an error related to the features above, then you will have to drag the whole web folder.
If the web folder is not yet present in the web folder drop down menu, then choose "Add Web Folder to Web Folder Menu" from the Configure menu and select the web folder in Home Folder/Sites.
Go to the Transfer tab of Preferences and enter your login data. The protocol is WebDAV. Ignore the Get It button.
The Initial Path in Transfer Settings must be "Web/Sites/MyWebsite" where "MyWebsite" is the name you had chosen in iWeb for your site.
The location Home Folder/Sites is not a must. You may choose any other location.
In the above, "Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and drag your web folder into Home Folder/Sites" has me perplexed.

I use iPad in corporate network via WiFi.
Network is secured by gateway, which stands as a proxy for any inside/outside traffic.
I have an issue - while using AppStore on iPad, after pressing Install button on any application, I got error message:
'Couldn't connect to Store. Unable to setup secure connection to server. Check time settings' (the message is in Russian, so it's not 100% accurate translation).
The issue is solved very easy - if I would press Install while I'm on GSM network internet (3G), app is starting to download. Then I presson app to pause, turn on WiFi and press app to continue - voila, it's downloaded with no problems. So the issuer is narrowed only to failed authentification via gateway, because downloading itself is going OK.
Admins have to add iTunes servers to white list in order to provide working authentification, but couldn't finf exact list of what Apple servers' IP / domain names to add. Does anybody have this info?

My iTouch won't restore. iTunes keeps stating Error 1604 we can't restore you iTouch. What do I do?

I have had this iTouch for a long time and it has never done this before. my iTouch still has the 'connect to iTunes' picture on it. Everytime I try to restore it, it says Error 1604 afterwards. I can't reset my iTouch or even turn it off because the button on the top won't work. Please help me?

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

Try again tomorrow. All Apple servers are undergoing a huge number of hits. I think tomorrow or even the next day, all upgrade and activation servers will be in better shape.

Servers are slow again - anyone else?

The Apple servers are VERY slow tonight - I can barely even load trailers. Anyone else seeing this? I'm the the Southeastern US.
I purchased an AppleTV for my parents this weekend since we've loved ours so much - now Apple has gone and messed things up royally by intermingling "purchase only" titles with rental titles and now slow servers. I almost hesitate to give it to them at this point!

It may well be that the servers are a little slow due to demand, but there are other factors you need to eliminate before making that conclusion.
Your ISP could simply be throttling your connection, this is easily spotted as all your downloads will be slowed down accordingly. What is more difficult to spot is the appliance of filters to your service which will target certain services but not others.
Ralph, yours is an entirely different issue, you appear to be unable to connect at all.

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

Either your security software is blocking access to Apple's servers, or your computer was used at some time in the past to hack or jailbreak some iDevice (not necessarily the phone you are restoring), and your computer's network database has been corrupted. If you know this is the case edit your "hosts" file and remove all lines containing "gs.apple.com". If you are sure it is not the case temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall.

Apple tv 1 won't restore to factory settings

My apple tv 1st generation stopped working. It is caught in a loop. Basically it won't get past the restart screen. Diagnostics say it is working fine. Won't restore to factory settings. I really like the device and am not interested in moving to atv2. Help!

I assume you've unplugged from the mains, waited a few mins and restarted and also that you've done the Factory Restore from the same menu as Restart and Diagnostics.
Unfortunately if you've done those steps you are likely to be stuck.
There is no other official way to restore the shipping AppleTV backup image.
Apple are unlikely to be able to offer assistance if out of warranty though you could try, and even then I have no idea if they'd offer a repair/replacement as the unit is no longer sold.
There might be unofficial ways you could try and kick the thing into action if you Google for AppleTV jacks etc, but you might make trhings worse than they are (difficult to make igt more non-functional than it is).
Your best bet if Apple are unable to help would be to try and source a second hand unit (or maybe old stock). If a second hand unit had a working hard drive of similar capacity you might be able to clone that onto your existing one but that would generally entail opening the units up. No guarantee that thsi would help if some other component was stopping AppleTV from working.
Final though, if anything has changed eg HDMI cable/TV etc then try another or try component out in case HDMI negotiation is somehow tripping it up.
