My iTunes 10.5.2 freezes at startup

So I downloaded the iTunes update days ago which is the version 10.5.2
At running it for the first time it was all working properly, but then a day later when I opened iTunes, the iTunes just freezes for no reason and need to end process with Task Manager.
Any reason why it freezes and crashes now? (My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit)

Okay found a solution. Went here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1421 .   Mind you, it mentions Windows XP but it DOES apply to Windows Vista and Windows 7. Per the steps outlined on that page:
1)     I started iTunes in Safe Mode. It didn't crash. Seemed to work fine. Then re-started in regular mode. Crash.
2)     I created a temporary new user account on my PC (Start>Control Panel>User Accounts), even set it as an administrator account, named it "Test". Then, when logged into that account, I started iTunes in regular mode. No problems. So, this indicated to me that the problem was user account-specific.
3)     I clicked on the "user specific troubleshooting" link on troubleshooting page, which gives a number of things to try to fix the issue.   So I started with the first suggestion on the list, which is "Remove iTunes Preference File", showing two locations where instances of the file exists. The implication is that one of the files has been corrupted. So, I moved the first one to another folder and re-started iTunes. Crash. I put that file back. Then I moved the second one to the temporary folder. Restarted iTunes. Worked!
4)      Backed up and re-synced. I did have to transfer the library, but not a big issue.
5)      Deleted the iTunes Preferences file I moved. Then deleted the temporary test user account.
Haven't had any issues since. My guess is the latest update to iTunes really screwed things up.

Okay so i looked around for a Solution and only thing that semi works is disconnecting from the internet (VIA Cable on back of Computer) but when ever I start iTunes with a Internet Connection (Cable Plugged in) it Freezes. Now if I Plug in the Cable after I start iTunes it works fine Unless I go to iTunes Store then it Freezes again, I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling, moving/deleting all iTunes Folders, and ever Moving all my Music (Music is the only thing I have on iTunes no Videos, Podcasts or whatever only Music (7281 Songs >.>) but it just started doing this an hour ago for no reason Please Help!?!

Thats what I started to think but then I Disabled everything at Start up (Except what needs to be on) and there was still a problem but Im not to Worried about it It was fixed with a Factory Restore

Mac Pro on 10.6.8 freezes after startup

Since updating to 10.6.8 my 2009 MacPro will freeze after startup when opening finder, safari and itunes (so far). No beach ball and ForceQuit doesn't work. Resolved only by a hard shutdown with the off switch and restarting. Never a problem on restart. This problem seems identical to that described in an archived discussion (after an update to 10.5). I have followed those suggestions without success:
-run AHT and no issues found
-run disk utility to verify and repair permissions
-used Rember to check memory and no issues

It means that a third-party system modification you installed is causing the problem.
Reboot as usual (not in safe mode) if you haven't already done so. Don't launch any of your usual applications. Launch the Terminal application, copy or drag -- do not type -- the line of text below into the window, and press return:
kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
Next, do the same thing with this line:
sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
That's one line, not two. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Next, this command:
launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
Again, one line. Finally, one more:
ls -1 /Library/{InputManagers,StartupItems}
Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
You can then quit Terminal.

I movie 09 freezing upon startup of progam

I have i movie 09 and have been using it successfully without any problems for over 6 months. During that time, I have been working on a movie. It is currently 45 minutes long and includes sound effects and songs that I have added from garageband. I recently added a voiceover from Garageband, via i tunes and now the whole projects freezes on startup, i cant even access any of the functions.
Could it be:
1.i tunes incompatibility, either i movie or itunes needs an update, or both?
2. Movie is too long?
3. Problem with i movie..
I still have another 30 mins of the movoe to complete and want to be sure that I can continue to edit this film at a later date. I would also like to store it on an external drive, but have read in other posts that this is not as easy as it sounds. Has anyone had the same problem, or can offer any assistance here.
lots of work has gone into this project and would hate to lose it so far into the project.
at the moment, I have not upgraded any program (i movie, i tunes, garageband) in fear of losing any of my projects, should i be fearful.
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Itunes 10.5.2 freeze when starts on windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I've uninstalled, restarted then installed again the 64 bit version of Itunes and it keeps freezing even in safe mode, there is no way that I can sync my iPod touch 4g to my computer. Is there any other .exe file that I could install to make itunes work on my computer or will i have to wait for the next update that will come out in a while I guess.

ITunes 10.3.1 freezes when I try to delete files I have ripped from my own CDs.

I am in the process of updating a number of CDs that I ripped at 128kbps with rips at 256kbps. When I delete the 128kbps files most of the time iTunes 10.3.1 freezes with the spinning beach ball. The files are in the trash but I have to force quit iTunes. When I restart iTunes, the deleted files are still visible and playable and I can know delete these without any issues.
I have tried turning off my external OWC Mercury Pro Blu-ray/DVD/CD burner but this has no effect.

I have the same issue. I took it the genius bar and called talked to tier 2 phone support. They have standard thing where you uninstall all apple software in a certain order and then reinstall 64bit itunes. That did nothing (tried it 4 times).
I've gotten two clues so far.
One is that at the store if I plug someone else's iphone 4 in then itunes acts the same way. So it is not the phone. Two is tier 2 phone support told me to try syncing it with a fresh user account (an admin one). I did that and itunes was just fine, it did not freeze.
So there appears to be some conflict with the software, music files, whatever that is on my current user account (also an admin account). I ran virus and malware detectors and found nothing. Now I'm going to try putting my music, movies, apps, etc in the new user account and see if the phone will sync then.
I know its not much but thats where I'm at. I hope it helps.

I have a MacBook Pro, it recently started freezing upon startup. It would get to a blue screen and just sit there. I've tried booting in safemode to run disk repair and still doesnt help. If I do manage to get past the blue screen, it still freezes

If I manage to get past the blue screen, and open up youtube on google chrome, it will freeze before it loads youtube. I've tried safeboot and disk repair, nothing seems to work. I even tried to factory reset it but it wont connect to my internet when I reboot with power + option.. any ideas?

This can be used to boot the machine and delelte enough files to get it to boot normally.

17-inch, Mid 2009 mac book pro freezes on startup

My MBP occasionally freezes on startup.
it is a 17-inch, Mid 2009 model details as follows
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)
The problem first occured before upgrading to Lion, but does seem to be getting progressively worse.
I start the mbp, get the login screen, enter login and password succefully, and get the opening screen appropriate for my login...
BUT am unable to select anything or perform any actions except using the on/off button to turn the mbp off, when its turned on it usually logs me in succesfully and then behaves as normal until the next login or the one after that ...
Anyone have any ideas what might cause this or if there are any known cures?

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

Premiere Elements 3 Freezes on startup in Windows 7

I just loaded Premiere Elements 3 on a laptop with Windows 7 and it freezes on startup. I can't find any reference to drivers for Windows 7. I've used PE3 satisfactorily with Windows XP and want to continue to use it. Does anyone have a solution that doesn't involve upgrading to a later version or switching to another video editing program? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled.

Neale: It's Windows Home Premium on a Sony VGN-NW270F with an Intel Core2 Duo T6600 2.2 GHz processor, with 4GB of memory. I hope this additional information is helpful in diagnosing my problems with PE3 version 3.02 and Windows 7.
Steve: I found I already had PE3 Version 3.02, so that was not the problem. However, I did uninstall and re-install, with no better results. I then poked around in the Windows 7 Help files and stumbled across the misnamed "Compatibility Manager" (it's really an "Incompatibility Manager"). When I set PE3 to run under XP Service Pack 2, PE3 finally started up. I then found I could load video files and edit them. But, after working on this for a few days, I tried to use the Transitions and Effects Button. That invariably sends PE3 off to La La Land, which only a power off will fix (I haven't had to power off so many times since I used Windows 95 and the early DOS systems, which doesn't seem like progress.) So far, I haven't found a solution to this new freeze problem. Any suggestions as to what might make PE3 work properly?
You say that PE3 is a relatively old version of the program. Well, not that old -- "old" programs dated 2007 should work on operating systems released only two years later. However, I haven't upgraded from PE3 because it worked really well on my XP machine and subsequent releases of PE appear to be buggy. From what I've read in the Forum here, I wouldn't upgrade to PE8 because even that version doesn't seem to work well with Windows 7. I've wasted enough time on this already.
John: Unfortunately, I just have Windows 7 Home Premium, the plain vanilla OS. So far, I am thoroughly unimpressed with Windows 7. New operating systems are supposed to bring advantages, not be incapable of running programs that ran under previous operating systems.

Try a Safe Boot: Restart holding down the shift key until you (hopefully) see a grey progress bar. Once booted restart as normal from the Apple menu. Any change?

iTunes 9.0.1 freezes when starting. I had 9.0 and everything worked fine. Did the upgrade to 9.0.1 and now iTunes freezes. Help anybody.

I recently bought my father an iPod Nano 5th gen. We got about 5 CD's properly imported on iTunes 9 when I was showing him how to import and sync his device. However, soon after I 'cut him loose' he reported a problem with the iTunes freezing and causing trouble for the rest of the computer. I've replicated the symptom and have done an evening of searching with no avail. I upgraded to v10 with the problem persisting. Here is the progression of how to replicate the symptoms...
1. start computer/itunes
2. insert cd
3. click yes when asked "would you like to import this CD"
4. iTunes begins importing, but freezes on the first song with less than 1/16 completed. iTunes no longer responsive
(5.) Can CtrlAltDel and shut down iTunes, but other functions remain inactive (starting new programs, shutting down, etc... computer needs hard restart)
(6.) Can replicate with 3 other CD's. Stopped trying after this.
(7.) Can successfully rip via Windows Media Player and drop and drag into iTunes. To me, this proves correct working order of CD rom drive and general windows software.
Alternately, iTunes will freeze when simply trying to play off of a CD within 5 seconds of playing the song.
I have tried operating with the "Use error correction when importing CDs" unchecked, yielding no different results.
Please advise, thank you in advance!!!
