My itunes account had me change my Apple ID to an email address.
Recently Itunes flagged me for a password reset. When I went to reset the password it told me that I could no longer just use a username that I had to use an email. So I went through the process, but now I don't see any of my previouse purchased Items. How can I merge what seems like my 2 accounts or see my prevousely purchased items. I would like to grab stuff off the icloud but when I look under purchases items nothing is there.
Click here and follow the instructions.

I had itunes on another laptop which is no longer in use. I have changed my apple id to my email address which has completed fine. I cannot find the itunes I had on my account before that I had on my other laptop. Can you help?
Your music will only be where you put it. It does not magically appear in other places. Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some coutries:

Apple changed my Apple ID to the email address associated with my iTunes account. I now can no longer access my account because the old user name is no longer valid and has no password. I have been on the phone with tech support for hours trying to fix this. I can not update any of the apps associated with that user name.
Is this itunes on the iPad or on my computer? Thank you for the reply.

After installing ios5 and having had to change my apple id to e-mail address I am unable to download updates as they were purchased under my previous id and it will not allow me to get back into the old id Help please.
Make sure you enter your new Id in settings/message, settings/facetime. ANy content that you downloaded with the old ID is forever linked to that old ID and if you have apps that were downloaded with the old ID and you want to update them you can only do that with the old ID. You could delete those apps and downlad them again ( and pay for them if they are not free apps)

When i try to change my apple id and primary email address. The page just flickers and wont change or send me an email to confirm
I am in the same boat as all of you and have done lots of digging on this issue around the Apple Support Communities. Over the past three days, I have spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple trying to get creative about how to get around this issue (delete all my accounts and start over, etc.). Unfortunately, the bottom line message Apple gave me was this, "The ONLY way to use your @me as your primary email address is if you set it up that way at the very beginning. If you use a different email as your first primary address, you can never switch to your @me account unless you go and create a NEW @me account and start from scratch that way." So disappointed.

I can't change my Apple ID and Primary Email Address, there is no "edit" option
I can't change my Apple ID and Primary Email Address, there is no "edit" option
I am also curious about this.
I want to stop using my hotmail account (which is also my Apple ID) and migrate to my icloud address for all my email.
Why cant I use my icloud mail address as my Apple ID?
Seems strange to be forced to use a hotmail address instead. -
I am having trouble with my Apple ID and AppStore
Here are the steps I have taken and the results:
Changed my Apple ID with new email address.
Changed my iCloud with above new email address.
NOW - Apple ID appears correct in AppStore Settings, iCloud and AppStore*
If I scroll to bottom of screen in *App Store/Featured, I can see that the Apple ID is my new email.
Upon “updating” Apple ID reflects OLD email.
Deleted accounts, re-added accounts.
Signed out and signed in with new UN/Email
Issue remains the same.To migrate your data to a new iCloud account go to Settings>iCloud and turn off all synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.), when prompted choose to keep the data on your phone. After everything is set to off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, create the new iCloud account on your phone and turn on syncing for contacts, calendars, etc again. If prompted, choose Merge. This will upload your data to the new iCloud account.

Changed my apple id to new email address and now iTunes doesn't recognize either.
I changed ISP and had to change my apple id (it was my old email address, back when you had to use an email address as apple id.) Now, iTunes will not recognize my new apple id or my old one. How can I fix this? It won't let me do anything with the apps on my iPhone.
How did you change your apple ID?
I dont belie you can change your Apple ID, but you can add and delete email addresses that it recognized...
Goto https://appleid.apple.com/ and sign into your account... then you can edit the information... -
I am trying to use an Apple EMail address as my primary email address and I am unable to change it. I previously had another "nonapple" address identified as my Apple ID and Primary Email address. Now I apparantly can only change it to another "non Apple" related email address. It seems stupid to have to go to Google and use thier email address to make a change.
What gives. Thanks Roger! I understand that it is an Apple ID already that makes sense. That "non Apple " address however, is compromised and I do not wish to use it anymore and will be shutting it down. I find it strange that I must only identify a "Non Apple" address as my "primary email address". I have an alias address on the account and I can sign in using it as my Apple ID. i don't see the Logic in forcing someone to use another email provider as your primary mail service. (I know I can set up alias's and use them under an Apple domain, but the primary email will still be there and I understand used for any account communications from Apple.) Any further comments on this situations?

My email address is no longer associated with my itunes account/MacID. I think this happened when I created an account for my new iphone and used the same email address. Now I've forgotten my password and can't seem to reset it. When I tell it to send me a new password via email it never shows up. When I try to do it by answering questions it doesn't accept my answers.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
