My iTunes account indicates I purchased a movie, but it does not show up in my library.

If I go to iTunes, open my video library, there is a blank banner for the movie in question. If I try to play it I'm told "The movie "The Place beyond the Pines" can not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" I have searched the entire computer and the file does not exist, but my iTunes user account says it has been downloaded and will not give me the option to download it again. If I go to "get info" for the movie it tells me the location is file://localhost/C:/Users/xxxx/iTunes/iTunesMedia/Movies/The Place beyond the Pines(HD).m4v , but I can't find that location.

Sorry to hear the movie you purchased from iTunes is not playing.
I recommend deleting the video from iTunes and downloading "The Place Beyond the Pines" again from your list of purchases. You can find the steps to do this under the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:

Itunes 11 appears to download my CD but it does not show up in my music?

I insert my own CD. itunes goes through the importing process on each track, but when it is done, the new tracks do not show up in Music or Recently added. Where is it? I do not have itunes Match. Any ideas? I import my own CD's like this all the time.

I had the same issue and it seems to me, that the problem is the Apple cloud. The cloud symbol next to my music library wash showing an update after I imported a new CD. And only after this was done (which took a loooong time over my slow DSL line), the CD was visible.
Although I do not use iTunes Match it looks as if Apple is transferring my music library data to the cloud.

Frustrating. My old computer died, I got a new one. I reinstalled iTunes and sync'd my purchased songs. However, one song I purchased did not transfer. Now when I go out to the i store it doesn't let me buy it because it says I already purchased it? what am I doing wrong???

From the iTunes store main page, look to the right.
Click "Purchased".
There you will find everything you have purchased.

It might not be compatible with the iPad or the iOS version you're running on your iPad (you can check the app store to find out). You also have to have the same Apple ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores and have Apps turn to On under Automatic Downloads.

A movie rented on an iPhone can only be viewed on an iPhone. If you want to view on TV you need to rent directly on ATV or via computer (and stream using home-sharing)

It does not magically appear in a new place. It will only be where you put it.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Have you tried resetting your iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next would be to unsync the music and then try syncing the songs to the iPod
- Last would be to restore from backup.
