That is the orientation lock indicator. It means that you phone will not go into landscape mode when tilted on it's side.
To turn orientation lock off double tap the home button, to access the multitasking menu, then swipe your finger to the right over the multitasking bar at the bottom and touch the big button on the left with the padlock.

Same issue here. I tried to follow the suggestion and open the entry in the missed calls list, but when I tap it, a new FaceTime call Is triggered. I do have to delete the entry by swiping left and tap "delete" to get rid of the red circle.

I have version 5.7 and every time I opened it I was told that updates are available and to click on the icon to access these. Instead it just took me to the
adobe page with nowhere visible to update. I then sought to download lightroom cc and this is when I could not access the 'develop' section due to reduced
functionality It was apparent that my photos had been put in cc but no way to access them unless I wanted to subscribe.
I have since remedied the problem as my original lightroom 5.7 icon is still available on the desktop and have gone back to that. I do feel that this is a bit
of a rip off and an unnecessary waste of my time though.

I would ask if it is in a file format that the reciever can understand and deal with. iChat can deal with anything that Preview can deal with.
I am not sure about the AIM end or Trillian or other AIM clients.

In iTunes, click on "iTunes" in the menu bar, then on "About iTunes". Which version do you have?
If you are running OS X 10.5.8 (as per your signature), the iTunes 10.6.3 is the latest you can install and use. If your iTunes version is older, you can get that 10.6.3 here and see if it can deal with the library.
The latest iTunes, version 10.7, requires OS X 10.6.8 or newer. Unless your signature is wrong and you run a late Snow Leopard, Lion or even Mountain Lion, it won't work for you, and you could add me to the list of people asking the same question as Allan, "where's that library from?".

What is this space and how do I get rid of it?

I usually create a template for my sites with the standard DW CSS templates and then alter them as needed. I always seem to have this space between the header and main content divs, and unless I do a negative margin on the main content div, I can never get rid of it. Can someone tell me what it is, why it's there, and if there's a better way to get rid of it? Sometimes I seem to have browser compatability issues with a negative margin.
Here's an image of what I'm talking about. The site isn't launched yet.
The CSS is the standard oneColFixCtrHdr.css, and I haven't altered it yet, other than the header height, however this problem is there regardless of the height.

Firefox shortcut on desktop is displaying a padlock. What does this mean and how do I get rid of it?

The Firefox shortcut on my desktop is displaying a padlock. It did not have this earlier today and I have no idea where it came from or what it means. When opening Firefox with this shortcut the page is then outlined in red. Does anybody know what has caused this and how to get rid of it?

Maybe your security software (anti-virus, firewall) is blocking Firefox.

The pop-up box starts when I use firefox and it keeps popping up every time a page changes or every time I do anything in Firefox. I press "okay" and multiple boxes with the same message pop-up. Again, thanks!

I started my firefox and it instaled himself certain adds or i don't know how to call them like "Billeo" or "kwiclick" which i never asked for...what is this? and how do i get rid of them and avoid having this kind of surprises next time?

I think it is not really legal to automaticly install certain features on my computer without my consent so I expect a fast and VERY reasonable answer!

No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

That specific error has to do with Movie Rentals.
From "iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting:"
This alert is related to iTunes Store movie rentals and authorization issues.
Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge.
If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.
As the article says above, if you continue to have issues then refer to "iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases" for instructions on how to remove the "SC Info" folder.

Such symptoms bode serious hardware issues and you shouldn't think about fixing it yourself when you are still in waranty. Get to an Apple Store, like the other poster suggests.

Try a soft-reset and see if it works after your phone has restarted (it seems ot have fixed the error for a number of people on here) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
