So your iPod Touch appears in iTunes but not my computer? Is that you are saying? If so, that is supposed to be the case. Your iPod Touch will not be recognized as a separate mounted drive. For more information, see this article.

EDIT : After 2 days trying to make it work , while I was writing this discussion , the Itunes start to sinc "magicly" and now detect the Ipod .
I think that must be an error in the product registration or something like that .

I updated to itunes 7.0. I plug my ipod in so I can listen to my music that is on my ipod that is not in my itunes library. It finds my ipod, but I cannot find a way of viewing my music on my ipod. I used to be able to do this fine in the old itunes, so what is wrong?

Click on the chevron > to the left of the iPod icon in the Source list. This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the traditional song view with the information at the bottom.

i´m having problems with my ipod because itunes doesn´t identify it so i can´t update iOS 4.3 for downloading apps or anything....the only thing i can do is charge the battery....

Itunes detects an Ipod but can't identify 7th gen Nano

Went through all the trouble shooting shown on the help/more info menu and still the same thing.
I can get the nano to stay connected to my comp only if I leave the Itunes error up and dont click ok in Itunes and then I see it in my devices on the comp!!!

TS1424 downloaded an entire album and everything is fine on my iPod, but on the computer 7 tracks have an exclamation point and when I try to play those track I get a message that the original files are missing.

Exlamation point on 7 tracks from an entire album, all the others are fine. It won't play on the laptop, I get an error message that the original files are missing. But they play fine on the iPod.

Try deleting those missing tracks from your computer's iTunes, connect the iPad to your computer and do File > Transfer Purchases - that should copy them back from the iPod

Hello, awhile back my hardrive died but I had my music and contacts on my IPod. I transferred the music to my new computer no problem- but the Contact folder the process created is empty (it just has a sample Contact in it).

My Contacts are still on my IPod. If I choose to "SYNCHRONIZE CONTACTS" which will it do:
1)transfer my contacts from the ipod to my computer? or
2)transfer my contacts from my computer (none!) to my ipod?
if it does (2), then I loose all my contacts- they will be erased (overwritten with nothing).
if it does (1), then I save hours & hours of manually typing then into my computer.
If you know for sure what will happen, please let me know? Thank you!

I am need of help! I have had this issue for a while now and it's becoming frustrating.
My iTunes installed on my HP Windows 8 Netbook is unable to recognize my iPod, the error message along the lines of "iTunes has detected an iPod but unable to recognise"
I have followed all the trouble shooting tips and am still stuck? I am now being told by a friend I need a link sent to me to fix this??

So just close iTunes and re-open iTunes thats it and that worked for you?
When you say reset your settings do you mean to factory settings? As my iPod was swapped at the store for a new one and the problem is still there...

Itunes gives me the message that it has detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore the ipod. when I clikk the "restore" button the download begins and after 30 minutes, I get the original message that itunes detects an ipod in recovery mode.

This is a 30 minute process. Once the download completes, I get the same message "iTunes detects an iPod in recovery mode....". I'm running Windows Vista and ZoneAlarm security software.
I've tried this restore function multiple times and still get the same results.
I've also tried resetting the iPod by holding the wake/sleep button and the Home button at the same time. The iPod turns on but shows the icons of a usb cable connecting to iTunes.

Sync works the same way it always has, connect the device, select the content desired to sync and sync.
All the media should be in iTunes already, iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
If this is a new computer, move the content from the old computer to the new computer.

Without a rescue email address, you can't reset them yourself. Nobody on these boards can reset them for you.

Itunes recognises my Ipod but cannot see the files! need help

Hi, when I open Itunes while my Ipod is attached to the pc, Itunes recognises my Ipod but cannot open it! The only recommendation I get is to totally reset the Ipod to the configuration of the factory but then I will lose all of my files! Can someone advise me what to do? Is there another option? hope someone can help me with this! thanks
ps I tried copypod, but unfortunately it does not work. I have two files on my ipod that are damaged but I am not able to remove them! I think these two files are the problem.

When I want to do something like you're describing, I open itunes, then select Edit-Preferences.
I leave that window open and then connect the ipod. I can then use it as a disk in windows explorer.
