My itunes doesnt want to open on my computer

what to do because my itunes doesnt open on my computer

Try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
If not try working through TS1717: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
Otherwise for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes 8 will not open on my Computer

I recently updated my older version of iTunes but now iTunes doesnt work. All of my music is still saved but the program itself will not open. When I follow the instructions online it does no good. My computer when turning off to restart pops up a message telling me that iTunes is running but not responding. Is there anyway to fix this? I've tried everything.

I have downloaded itunes to my computer. All of my itunes from my old computer are on my ipod classic. I went through all of the troubleshooting tips and i still can't get it to work. What i really need is for someone smarter than me to talk me through it in case i missed a step. Two heads are better than one and i really don't have a clue what to do anymore.

I have reinstalled itunes several times on my computer (Windows 7).  However, everytime it opens and I click on apple store I get an error message "a problem has ocurred with itunes.  Program will shut down."  What do i do about this?

Try gn_id's suggestion from the following post:
Re: iTunes 11 crashes when opening the store - no error message

  • Itunes 11 will not open on my computer. It worked before I restarted it but doesn't work anymore.

Itunes will no longer work on my computer since it upgraded to itunes 11.

I'm having similar issue, but with Windows XP.
I bought a new phone a few days ago and restored my itunes to it from icloud.
    Could the problem be related?

  • I just got a new Ipod and had to update my Itunes to a newer version to use it. But now Itunes app will not open on my computer. What do I do?

I just got a new Ipod and had to update my itunes. Now my itunes will not open. I have a MacBook 4,1 with Mac OS X 10.6.8.

On your phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Should take but a minute & the phone will look just like it did when first taken out of the box.
If you're gonna use the phone on the same computer your son uses, read through this:

  • My ipod is displying apple logo and wont start up, hard reset leaves it the same, disc mode works but iTunes doesnt "see" it even if the computer does.

"My ipod is displaying apple logo and wont start up, hard reset leaves it the same, disc mode works but iTunes doesn't "see" it even if the computer does."
It worked two days ago fine, for two years, until I installed this newest iTunes update, then for one day it kept on freezing and going to apple logo screen mode, then today it only goes to that screen and wont start up at all.
I've tried the hold down two buttons hard reset, that doesn't help. I've tried disc mode... but iTunes doesn't "see" it even if the computer does.
This is a pristine ipod, never exposed to adverse conditions, never dropped, never wet, and it worked perfectly two days ago.
Can I factory reset it somehow? (considering itunes can't "see" it)
[Ipod classic 160gb less than two years old.]

Looks like I might have found the solution on a youtube comment:
    R.O:
"Plug into you laptop first, whichever set up you use that has iTunes, i know it won't read it, don't even open iTunes as of yet. Do the typical reboot "Menu +Center button at the same time" and hold it, DONT LET IT GO like we were told, when the apple pops up.. KEEP HOLDING IT it will make a new ding sound I've never heard before. and since its hooked to you laptop already an error message pops up and says apple will need to download something to repair your iPod. I when u see that that when i let reboot buttons go. hit ok on the laptop something downloads for like 20 seconds then the iTunes icon hops around when you open it it has a screen with an iPod classic on it and says "Software version blah blah, iTunes will check for an update on such n such date" AND FINALLY there's a "Restore" button. click that and you will be back to square one with your iPod. Renaming , adding all the music on it, but it will work again, finally. "
I had to do it twice, because my mac froze the first time, but its recognized it now and is downloading the software as we speak...
Now I've clicked the restore button and it's restoring... I'll post again if its a success, otherwise assume failure.

  • Itunes store does not open in my computer. I need help...I have worked on this issue for more than 10 hours. I am about to return my new ipod touch.

I do not have access to itunes store. I tunes store was working well with my old ipod with 30GB wich i had for about 6 years. I went to the store to have the battery replaced. However, I was told that my ipod was ready to be recycle. I received 10% discount to buy an ipod touch with 60GB +. When I connected the ipod touch to my computer, i did not have access to itunes store. Also, none of my music was synced. In addition, the icon for my ipod showed that the battery was not charged even though I charged the ipod touch for more than 8 hours prior to conneting it to the computer.
I have installed the latest version for itunes 10.6.1. Still I do not have access to itunes store. I have put more than 10 hours trying to solve this issue. I have become frustrated and ready to return my purchase.
    Please help

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Itunes doesnt snyc imported music names onto computer

I have a Windows 7 PC, and im trying to add music to my cell phone (not iphone), but the songs i just imported are not in the "my music" folder! When i imported the music, i had to manually put in the names of songs and artsits, etc... but this never happened before! the reason i cant find the songs is because it says "Track (#)" instead of the name of the song. can someone help how to resync to my computer "Itunes" folder in my music. Also, im trying to contact itunes chat, and i cant find the button that says "chat now"!!!
    help please!

If they are from the iTunes Store, in iTunes go to the Store menu on top and then Deauthorize your computer. Now play one of the iTunes Store purchased songs and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password.
