My iTunes freezes and crashes whenever I try to burn a CD

It hits about a quarter way through the progress bar for preparing the playlist to be burned, and then iTunes freezes and quits every single time. Help?

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • ITunes freezes and crashes when I sync my iPhone5

Help! iTunes freezes and crashes every time I try to sync my iPhone 5. Sometimes it freezes at the start of the sync. Sometimes it successfully backs up the phone and freezes at a later step.
Also, after I connect the phone but before I click on sync, if I click on the Apps tab in iTunes, the program also freezes and crashes.
The same iTunes program (v.11.3.1) on the same desktop computer works just fine when my wife syncs her iPhone 4.
What can I do about this? I'd really appreciate advice.

    Hey user1934,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes when your iPhone 5 is connected and syncing. The following resources may provide a solution:

  • HT203175 The latest version of iTunes freezes my computer whenever I try to open it. Needless to say, this is infuriating. I have Windows XP, which should support the latest version. I am particularly exasperated, because iTunes compelled me to download.

iTunes compelled me to download the latest version, before I could complete a transaction (which, needless to say, was botched). I have Windows XP, and I cannot open iTunes now without freezing or crashing my computer. This is utterly frustrating, since I can't even play any holiday music, much less update my iPod.
Can I uninstall, and reinstall the older version? I do not need all the bells and whistles, and I detest the new format (even if it were to run on my computer)?
I'd love to be able to access my Xmas playlist someday.

What didn't work?  Removing everything or just the older version of Bonjour?  Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided above to walk you through the process?
Perhaps it would be a better idea to post this in the iTunes forums, since it is an issue with iTunes and your iPod Shuffle.

  • Mozilla keeps stalling and crashing whenever I try to view videos online, or check my email.

Whenever I try to check my email, or watch videos [on YouTube], Mozilla Firefox stalls--seemingly frozen--then I end up having to force it to shut down. And when I try to open a new window and restore the session, the screen appears frozen and unresponsive.
Before posting this question, I made sure that all of my plug-ins were updated, my computer(Windows-PC) is virus-free, and that I was running the most recent version of the browser. However, I'm using Google Chrome to post this question. I have uninstalled Firefox out of frustration.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • CR XI R2: Crystal Reports freezes and crashes when I try to open a report

I added this question as a Reply to a message by nic2deep a month ago <Crystal Reports freezes every time I try to open a report.>, but got no response so I thought I'd try again on my own.
I have 2 laptops with CR XI installed (same problem from original R2 through SP 5). The old laptop is an IBM Thinkpad R51. The new one is an HP Elitebook 6930p. Both have the exact same software and versions of Win XP and network security.
If I try to open a report that has an "invalid printer" selected, it will open in the old IBM (with the message, 'This report uses an invalid printer. The default printer will be used instead'), but on the new HP, it freezes and I have to do a CtlAltDel to get out.
I've tried everything Don Williams suggested to nic2deep:
    1) Open Contol Panel and add/remove programs and select CR. Do a repair install and if possible use the Custom Options and install all DB drivers and Export options, except Lotus Notes, unless you' re using them.
Results: Tried many times with no effect.
    2) It may be that your firewall setting or anti-virus software is blocking access to system files or resources. When you do the repair install make sure to disable them and un-plug yourself from the network so you protect your PC while they are off line.
Results: Firewall was always OFF because network security handles all that. Can't turn off anti-VIrus, but both computers have the same antivirus system anyway.
    3) Look in the System and Application Event logs in Admin tools; it may give you a clue what your PC is trying to get to and being denied.
Results: The only thing that is logged in Admin Tools when this happens is a "Security/Privilege Request" with no errors.
Clearly, when CR in the HP looks for the printer selected in the report and doesn't find it, that causes CR to freeze.
Any idea what difference between the 2 machines could cause this? Something in the Registry?
This is a royal pain, because I can only be on one computer at a time.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Debi,
Because in CR XI R2 it is WYSIWYG meaning we use both the display and the printer drivers to render the report. Same as what PDF does. If we can't find the printer the report was designed against, and all the placements of each object is dependent on the printer when designed, we have to default to your default printer to be able to calculate internally when to render the report objects and format the layout thus the message from CR indicating so.
Basically CR dynamically builds the page layout dependent on the local system. Also the reason why CR requires a default printer to be installed, if it's not then we use Microsoft's Generic Print driver. It's not that reliable either but we have to use something.
And another "for your info" is the same for our database drivers. Example, if you create a report off of MS SQL Server and then you want to view the SQL CR generates you need to log on first. This way CR can query the DB client and generate the SQL according to the DB. If you just want to see the SQL you could just set location to Access, problem with this is because CR dynamically generates the SQL according to the DB you set lcoation to we may change the SQL Statement and not actually show you what the report uses when connecting to the real database.
One of the side effects of supporting so many DB's and Printers and Video drivers. Sometimes drivers do non-standard functionality which CR did not anticipate or code on how to handle.....
This all changed in CR 2008, we are not as dependent on the printer driver but this created a whole new set of problems if you hadn't noticed from all the Printer problems posted.... But we are going back to the CR XI R2 printer functionality model to resolve all of the issues....
    Thanks again
    Don

  • IPad freezes and restarts whenever I try to uninstall an app

I am using iPad mini, Memory capacity: 13,3 GB - Available: 8,2 GB, iOS 7.1.2

  • ITunes freezes and crashes every time I try to open it

MacBook using OS X 10.9.2 - Every time (without exception) I try to open iTunes, it goes to the "Accessing iTunes Store" window, and then stays there while launching that much dreaded Mac "spinning wheel of death"....
I have to force quit in order to get rid of it since I do not have access to any of the iTunes menu items while this is all going on.
Have no idea what to do...

    Hi exyalie,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of iTunes are you using?  You may need to update your software or reinstall it (this affects the application, not your data).  I would also suggest quitting the application, restarting the computer and resetting the SMC (see below).
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Disconnect from the internet (turn off Wi-Fi) and unplug ethernet -- and then try launching iTunes again.
There are more troubleshooting steps in these articles:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
Add-ons, such as plug-ins and scripts, not manufactured by Apple (third-party) add features to iTunes or modify its appearance and behavior. Using these can interfere with how you use iTunes. For example, if you upgrade to a newer version of iTunes, your add-ons may not be compatible.
    Slow performance
iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly
If you see the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any third-party plug-ins by opening iTunes in Safe Mode:  OS X: Hold down Option-Command.
Click Continue and see if any issues persist.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Itunes 10.5 crashes whenever I try to open it

I recently updated Itunes and now it crashes every time I open it and freezes my whole computer.  It starts to update the library then freezes about 3/4 of the way done.  I've already tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, but it doesn't seem to help.  The same thing happens when I try to open Spotify, any suggestions?

jamesmcdermott1 found this solution, it works:
Found a solution on another site that worked for me when I encountered the same problem (and did not want to pay for iPhoto 11):
Press the option key while starting iPhoto, it will ask which library to use -- select "Create a new library." That will create an empty library.
Quit iPhoto, then restart it with the option key to ensure it's using the new, empty library. Close iPhoto.
Open iTunes -- if you're lucky (I was, finally), it should not crash when you select the iPhone. Now you can check that the "sync photos" option in iTunes is not selected.
If you're using iPhoto, restart it with the option key to select a library -- select your older library.
In case you're using Aperture as I am, I did not have to make any changes in the Aperture libraries. I've been able to keep Photo Stream enabled on the iPhone without complications, which meets my needs.
Configuation - iMac, OS 10.7.3, iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1 (over the air update), iPhoto 8. I did not encounter the problem others have reported with iTunes crashing as soon as it was opened; but it did consistently when I selected the iPhone.

  • When I plug in my iPhone, iTunes freezes and crashes, what is going on?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, as well as restoring my iPhone to factory settings. But whenever  I plug in my phone, itunes crashes. It works with other programs but I've ran out of ideas. Anyone had this problem before?

  • Importing any PNG freezes and crashes Flash CS4

After being able to import multiple large PNG files into my Flash project, Flash CS4 now freezes and crashes whenever I attempt to import any PNG image, regardless of size or transperancy. This happens on any flash project, even brand new ones.
Importing a PNG file into the library freezes flash and I have to open the task manager to close it. Interestingly, when I try to end the task, flash still asks if I want to save changes, as attempting to import the PNG results in a new, blank symbol added to the library. I can re-open the file with the blank symbol but because it is blank this doesn't help me.
Dragging and dropping a PNG file straight onto the project crashes Flash straightaway and prompts me to send an error message to Adobe.
    Computer Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600)

    Thanks Anton for your reply!
I'm 100% sure that the PNG file is not the problem.
I can donwload any PNG file on google and they all freeze Flash.
I noticed that the program won't react to any mouse command. I hear the
generic windows "ding!" sound when I click on something, but my keyboard
shortcuts still works. I can close or save the file, change tools, etc.
It happens since the middle of February, I'm not sure when.
Before that, I've never had any problems with importing PNG.
Also, I haven't installed any new program recently.

  • Audacity Crashes Whenever I Try To Open File?

I have recommended Audacity to FCE users for the last few years but have not used it recently as I have other apps.
I have just downloaded several versions to test on my iMac but each one freezes or crashes whenever I try to open an AIF file.
There would appear to be a conflict with something I have on my machine but I have no idea what.
I removed the obvious suspect, Perian, but this had no effect.
As I have several other (more expensive) audio editing apps it is not a problem other than being an irritation that something does not work and I don't know why.
I have far too many things installed to list, so has anyone heard of anything that might be causing this conflict?
Needless to say, it works perfectly on my old G4 1.25kHz eMac using OS X 10.4.11

Have posted on Audacity forum. Didn't get a solution but one reply indirectly led me to this discovery.
If I get a file, ctrl-click it and choose "Open With Audacity", there is no problem.
If I have the Audacity timeline window open and I select "File>Open Recent", there is no problem and the selected file opens and plays.
However, if I open Audacity so the timeline window is displayed and select "File>Open" or "File>Import" in order to select a new file, Audacity crashes.
So as long as I avoid this last method - which is normally the first choice method - I'm OK.
But this shouldn't be necessary as everything works fine on my prehistoric eMac.

  • Itunes crashes whenever I try to do anything...

Adding folders, deleting songs, rating music, whenever an album finishes, my itunes continually crashes. It's been doing this for the past few software updates, so I don't know what is going on. I've tried doing a total uninstall and that didn't work either. Anyone have any advice? I'm just about ready to trash this piece of junk program and get a music player that won't crash every fifteen minutes...

Negatory.  I've done that: no help.
After consulting with a support guy on the phone, we finally made some progress by moving one of my library files.  When I started iTunes back up, all of my podcasts were gone...but iTunes worked.  That is, at least until I started trying to resubscribe and redownload podcasts.  If I try subscribing to a podcast, I have a 75% chance of it crashing iTunes; I can check this by trying to go into my Podcast tab as it's downloading.  If I can click on all my podcasts and look at them while a new one is downloading, then the new one is fine and safe; if it freezes and crashes, then I know not to try to download that podcast again.  And yes, it seems to be specific podcasts that cause it.  This is really annoying.

  • ITunes 10 crashes whenever I try to do anything with podcasts.

Okay.  So I can manage playlists fine, sync my iPod, and download podcasts from the Store, but whenever I so much as click on the Podcasts tab to look at or-- god forbid, Refresh-- iTunes freezes and stops running.  I have reinstalled iTunes and repaired Quicktime.  Nothing seems to work.  Help!
