My iTunes has disappeared

Help!
My fiancee and I both have iTunes on the same computer. Mine seems to have disappeared. My iPod has her music on it instead of mine, and it doesn't play....it just skips from one song to another without playing a note. Furthermore, when I click on iTunes, I get a message that says "this action only valid for products that are currently installed". What happened? Hers continues to work just fine. I thought about uninstalling/reinstalling, but will it erase my library if I uninstall? I don't know what to do, any ideas? Thanks!

It is also possible that iTunes is already running, but something is messed up (and it won't let you run it twice). Open up the Task Manager (cntrl-alt-del) and see if the iTunes process is listed. If it is, right click it and kill it. Then try to lauch iTunes again.
Or - you could reboot.

That's consistent with trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system.

itunes has disappeared from my ipad. how to get it back?

You don't have iTunes (per se) on the iPad. There is a Music app which is an orange icon. Native apps cannot be deleted, but in the event that it has somehow disappeard you could go to Settings > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • PLEASE HELP!  itunes has disappeared from my computer - don't know why

PLEASE HELP!! iTunes has disappeared from my computer. Have no idea what happened. Won't let me download new itunes.

You can probably fix it by running chkdsk, as explained in this other thread. It makes sense, if you didn't remove itunes yourself and it can't be reinstalled/repaired, something went seriously wrong on the PC's hard drive. Perhaps the chkdsk utility can fix it.

  • Everything in my iTunes has disappeared, how do I get it back?

Basically, I went into my iTunes to discover that everything (Music, TV Shows, Films etc.) has disappeared. I have regretingly not back up my files, therefore I am asking if anyone knows how to get my files back?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • HT201272 All of my music in iTunes has disappeared.  Two years worth of music and work, GONE!  How can I get it back?

All of my music has disappeared.  It appears after a recent update, the files from the past 2 years are gone.  They are not in any of the music folders or other download folders either.
How can this be fixed as it's not my error the songs are missing?
    Thank you,
    Shane

See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash or Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
If the media files really have been deleted, and there is no other source, then there are various undelete tools ranging from free, e.g. FreeRecover, to expensive which might help depending on how the files/folders were deleted and how much work is involved in recovering them. Either way, the more you do with the drive the less chance they have of being able to recover your data successfully. You should also extract the data to another drive to avoid corrupting what has yet to be rescued.
Note also that some "free" recovery tools are bait & switch. The free download will show what can be recovered, but you have to pay up before it actually pulls out any data.

I bought a book on iTunes that has disappeared. How do I restore it?

Go to your iBook App.   Then go to the store.   Select "Purchased" from the bottom tabs.  Find the book you want and tap on the cloud icon to re-download the book.

  • My App store and itunes has disappeared from my iphone

My app store and itunes apps have disappeared from my iphone.
I suspect Apple is responsible and is trying to force an upgrade. Does anyone know if this is true? because if it is we should object to this.
The upgrade on my ipad was such a horrible experience, I don't want to do it to upgrade my iphone. (Upgrades have been a nightmare every since the itunes interface was changed. In my view, iTunes is the now one of the most unintuitive interface imaginable - [bar windows 8]. Prior to that it was generally easy to do upgrades and backups without hiccups and the interface was great. Now its too obscure to find what you need to do.)
I have been an Apple fan since the original Apple computer - but am not very happy with recent changes that affect use-ability and reliability.
General grumbling aside - every time you upgrade, you have to reload all of your apps; and a lot of favorite apps won't work with the new system. That's another reason I don't want to upgrade.
Without the App and iTunes application - you can't selectively update the apps you want to update or even access your music.
    Questions:
    1. Does anyone know why the Apps and iTunes apps disappeared? (I'm not the only one complaining about this.)
    2. Does anyone know how to get them back without having to effectively erase your phone and start over?
    3. Does anyone know how to get iTunes on the computer to recognize your iiphone when the itunes app disappeared off it?
    Thank you.
    DD

    Hi Dahveed,
Thank you again for the advice. But, rebooting did not help.
In the end I was forced to upgrade.
I am relieved to say that this upgrade went very smoothly compared to other upgrades.
I did not have to re-download apps and they appear to be in their normal folders - except a new app page 2 (after the primary page) appeared containing only the missing apps. This was not there before.
Answer to the disappearing Apple App Store and iTunes Dilemma:
The answer to this problem unfortunately appears to be to upgrade the system.
In my experience the Apps (which presumably are removed to force the user into an upgrade) then re-appear.
On the positive side, at least on this occasion, it did not turn out to be a nightmare make work project.

  • Computer froze while updating. iTunes has disappeared

I was updating my iTunes when my computer froze and now my iTunes has been deleted and I can no longer reinstall. I have tried to download iTunes in the most updated version, but I cannot actually proceed with the download. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have tried rebooting my computer. I have also looked in the Control Panel to see if the program was there, and it's as if the program has completely vanished from my computer. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

i assume your computer froze during the update operation, leaving your installation in a unstable state. after restart you are not able to access anything. if that is the case, i think the best option is to use a arch installation disk/usb to boot and finish the update.
    1. create a bootable meadia - cd/usb and boot using that
    2. mount the partitions
    3. arch-chroot to the mounted root partition
    4. run pacman -Syu
if the above is not the case, please give more details.
    thanks

  • All of my Itunes has disappeared! Please help

I've had iTunes on my Windows for quite a while and I have frequently used it. Unfortunately today, another family member used it and now for some reason or another all of my music, playlists and videos have disappeared. I was able to retrieve all my music, but I lost all of the playlists and play counts and such. This makes it very frustrating as I had which songs I wanted included on my iPod in a seperate play group and now I have to redo that and resend them onto my iPod. Is there any way to fix this without having to go through all that trouble? Plus I would really like to have my play counts back if possible. The guilty person has no idea how they caused this to happen, so they're off no help there. I would really appreciate your help. What should I do to fix this?

Is your Itunes program gone? If not then open up your my computer, go to program files or something on the lines of that, then find Itunes and look for playlist and import them back into Itunes =)

  • Much of my music in itunes has disappeared since syncing with iphone 4s?

I'm not sure what is going on, but most of my music in itunes seems to have disappeared since syncing with my new iphone4s.
I just noticed this when trying to look for a ringtone to put on my phone. I haven't put any music or anything like that onto my phone yet.
What is going on? Can I get this back? I still have the music on an ipod. most of the music I uploaded from cd to itune.
    ty for help.

This is not sounding like an iTunes Match issue - worth trying the iPhone forum and/or the iTunes for Windows/Mac forum.
Usually in synchronisation, pending settings the library will adjust Songs on the device - it is not normal for connect to a device to alter Songs in a library unless to add - for example, addition of Songs purchase on the device.
Would recommend - creating a second library, importing Songs from iPod and making a secure backup - from here you can use this resource to correct your original library, once the issue with your iPhone has been resolved.

  • My itunes has disappeared from my computer.  I click the icon as usual and nothing happens.

I have a shortcut on my screen to go to itunes.  I click on it as I always have and nothing happens.  I goggled and it went to apple which told me to reset my apple password which I did.  Then it told me to download itunes to my computer.  I didn't because I already have it and have a  lot of downloaded songs that I am afraid I will lose.  Do you know what has happened or what I might have done wrong?
