My itunes has no song listings
I did the latest update for my itunes on a windows platform.
I can see my albums (artwork) but no songs listed . just blank.
also there is no search function. you cant type in the search field
Upgraded from iTunes 10.7 or earlier to iTunes 11? The layout may need exploring a little. Click on an album image to see what is inside.

When I enter a name in the search field, all I get is a page that says "Showing Results for" and then nothing on the page. I enter Elvis Presley, for example, and the page that comes up says "Showing Results for Elvis Presley" but there's nothing on the page. I can't find any of the songs I want. This hasn't happened before. What's up?
Hi Bookman23,
If you are getting no results when searching the iTunes store, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Itunes has "lost" songs but they are still on my iphone.. help
So is there anything I can do to get the music back on my computer as some of these are old songs and the discs are damaged or who knows where. Help??
HHi thanks for replying.
yup that's exactly what I did, selected what I wanted removed them synced, so on the tab, my iPad shows everything I wanted gone, gone. But on the iPad everything is still there
To update to ios8 it wouldn't let me on the actual iPad so I did it using iTunes when ipad was connected and no problem updated but still all the music, books, audio books and movies are still there, even tho on itunes, what on my iPad shows all gone
so frustrating don't know what to do next, except restore I guess which is last resort. Thanks -
When I hook my ipod up to my mac I used to get the Itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted error message. It would then sync all my song to the ipod but when I ejected it, none of the songs would be on the ipod. Now I hook it up and I get the Mac OS X can't repair the disk error message. Then the spinning colored pinwheel pops up and I can't use iTunes. Please HELP!!!!!!
Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

itunes has removed my downloaded music from my library. I still have all of my purchased songs and videos but the downloaded songs are missing. I still have the downloaded songs on my cpu just not in my itunes library anymore. How do I get these songs back in my itunes library?
Copy them from the other user account you were logged in with to your own account. Or if you are using iTunes 10.3 or later and live in the use, redownload them via iCloud beta. See this article for more information.

iTunes has recently began corrupting my Music and some of the Podcasts. An exclamation mark appears at a random selection of songs - about a thoussanad of them - and they will not play as iTunes says that it cannot locate the file. This also has happened on a number of Podcasts. Any one else encountered this?
This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, if you are running Windows (you've posted in iTunes for Windows, but your sig mentions Mac OS X...), and as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

I have not connected my iPad to a pc yet and it has my songs on it that are on iTunes, will I lose this if I plug it onto a PC?
Since you have never plugged the iPad into your computer's iTunes yet - you are syncing to a "new" computer so .... Yes you will lose the music if you sync it with iTunes before making this your syncing computer.
But ..... You can transfer all of the iPad content into iTunes and that will make the iTunes library your new syncing library. Just follow all of the steps in this user tip and you will be OK. Then you will be able sync without losing anything.

Here goes. My iPod touch has all my songs on it. I have changed computers several times and iTunes has a library of similar but not as many songs as iPod. When I plug iPod in ans go to sync it says that iTunes library will replace iPod songs. I don't want this to happen I want the I pod songs to sync with iTunes. What do I do?
That really does not work since music is not included in the backup. See:
iTunes: About iOS backups

backup your ipod. then sync your ipod to the computer, then restore your ipod and it will still have the right songs. its exactly what i had to do with mine. -
I just got some new songs, and want to put them on my iPod. I connected it to my laptop, and iTunes opened and automatically started to sync my songs. It only synced the first 8, then displayed an error message saying "iTunes has stopped working." The only option was to close the program, so I did. I then tried at least ten more times, with the same results. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but nothing is working. Please help!

ITunes has lock symbol; iPod will not update songs from library
My iTunes has a lock symbol next to remaining space area. Also, the remaining space says that there is 1.4GB of spaced used up even though there are no songs in the iPod folder or on the iPod itself. I have tried resetting the ipod and tried to copy and paste the songs over to the ipod folder with no luck. It says "updating files" for a split second but stops and nothing is actually moved over.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. ThanksYou have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manage the content manually.
You could restore the iPod to be sure the hard drive is completely erased.
See: How to restore the iPod to factory settings. -
After updating itunes to 11.1 and phone to ios7, I lost more than 3500 songs from my library. My ipod has 4185 songs less the most recent I purchased.
Is there no way an ipod can be used to restore the lost music? Yes, some of it was from cds but were done a long time ago. Obviously it was acceptable for me to compile this music then, now they want to say since it all wasn't purchased, I can't have what was already mine? Plus I do not use nor want to use the cloud, but it keeps creeping up even though I don't want or use it. HELP!See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I have deleted a song from my library and want to re-download it. When I access my purchased items in the iTunes store, the song has the 'purchased' button next to it and won't let me re-download. Any suggestions for things to try?
While you can redownload most past purchases without charge, you can't redownload movies without paying again. See Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

I've just upgraded iTunes and iOS 5.1. Suddenly iTunes has UNSELECTED every song in my music library. When I pick "Select All" from the drop-down menu, all the songs are HIGHLIGHTED, but none of them are CHECKED. I can't manually check every song in my library. How do I get iTunes to SELECT and CHECK songs in my Music Library?
thanks! got it. it's the command key. hold it down while checking one of the boxes and the rest of them will be checked.
