My itunes is a different version than my ipod

How do I correct this? My itunes is version 7.4.2.4 - my ipod (30gb) is version 1.2.1 - this does not seem right. Can someone help me? I am a new itunes/ipod user. I am still learning. I have restored already but it stayed the same. Everything seems to be working like normal. I am just concerned about the different versions. Thanks a million!!

There's nothing wrong.
They are different things so they have different versions.
Those are both the latest versions of the iPod OS for your iPod and the iTunes application.

I assume you never got a solution. My own painful story is here:

  • My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold.

My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold. What is the best way for me to choose what actually goes on the ipod?

Or, when you are synching choose the songs you want on the IPod by checking them in the library, then tell it to only synch checked items.
To be honest, the 'smart playlist' is probably a simpler way though. Go to playlists, click 'create new smart playlist' and choose your parameters from there. As you add new music to the library the playlist will update itself.

  • Accessing an itunes library from different version of itunes

I recently installed yosemite and with that came iTunes 12 since I have an iPhone 6 with 8.1 I will keep iTunes 12. But I have been having major issues with syncing video files to my iphone 4S(ipod touch now) 7.1.2JB. The files never sync or appear to sync and then when I go to view them on the iphone the size shows up as zero. So I feel like if I go back to an older version iTunes all will be right in the world. I just wonder will I have any issues if I have different versions accessing the itunes library files? Planning on using iTunes 11.4 and iTunes 12.
    TIA

Open the iTunes preferences, click on the Advanced tab, turn off the option to automatically copy the music to the iTunes Music folder, and then drag the library on the Windows partition to the open iTunes window. This will not transfer playlists and other metadata and will not keep the Mac version of the library in sync.

  • Standby database on different version than prod.

Is it possible to have a standby database running on a different version of Oracle than the production database?
In this case I have production DB on the following version:
    7.3.4
    8.1.7.4.0
    9.2.0.4.0
    9.2.0.6.0
Would it be possible to run the a stand by DB in 10g?

From the docs posted previously, which you clearly didn't read
Oracle Data Guard is available only as a feature of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. It is not available with Oracle Database Standard Edition. This means the same release of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition must be installed on the primary database and all standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.
Rhetorical question: Now what would same release mean?

  • Put itunes downloaded from different computers on same ipod?

    Hello,
I have downloaded itunes onto two different computers using the same account. How do I put these itunes onto my ipod without deleting any content? Thanks, Jake.

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer change the update setting on your iPod to manual. Connect your iPod to the computer you are using it on now an in iTunes go to Edit>Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Can you use iTunes on two different computers for one iPod?

My computer broke and it is currently being fixed, but in the meantime I want to update my iPod. Does anyone know if I can download iTunes on a different computer and plug in my iPod to put the songs I currently have and put different ones on. Also, if I do that will it be able to work on my computer when I get it fixed? Thanks

    Read http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61675.
    That should answer your problem.

  • How do I share iTunes library between different versions of iTunes

I have an old motorola powerPC based iMac which is running Mac OS 9. The latest iTunes version for the old Mac is 9.2.  I also have various computers including an Intel Mac and other Windows PCs that run the latest iTunes version 10.6.3.
When I tried to share a playlist from iTunes 9.2, the other 10.6.3 iTunes do not see it.
When I shared a playlist from iTunes 10.6.3, the other 10.6.3  iTunes see it with no problem.
The iTunes 9.2 also see a shared playlist from the 10.6.3 iTunes showing up between the Store and Genius section on the left pane, but as soon as I click on it, it disappears after it made an attempt to open it.
Is there a way to make the cross version sharing work?
If not, is it possible to upgrade my iTunes to 10.6.3 on Mac OS 9?
When I use "check for update" within iTunes, it says my 9.2 is up to date.

iTunes 10.6 requires a computer running OSX 10.5.8 or greater.
I don't know much about playlist sharing but it does not surprise me at all there are issues between computers that span over a decade.  I'm not sure if there is anybody around Apple who even remembers OS9.

  • How do I add a print button that would print out pdf or different version than what is on the site?

I see this example on NY Times.  If you pick any of their articles and click print or do the short cut (Command-P) ... (Control-P for windows), the layout of their article is completely customized and cleaner.  It seems like they've edited the print look to be different than what you see on the website.
I find that very cool and something I've bent dying to achieve.  My guess is that I could make a pdf to what I want the print look to be and have a print button read that instead of the website but I don't know, I need help with this.

I have but it's not what I'm looking for.  I want to edit what the printer will actually print when a reader clicks print.  So if the page has a puzzle, for example, and the reader clicks print.  The printer will print the puzzle in a different location on the page without some of the clutter that's on the site or have some message that's not originally present on the website.

  • Nodemanager different version than node?

    Hey all,
We would like to upgrade one node of a system to weblogic 8.1 sp5 while keeping the nodemanager at 8.1 sp2 (for a little while, make sure it's stable). The node isn't part of a cluster.
Our first attempt to try this resulted in a classCastException in the weblogic server, but we aren't sure the upgrade went okay.
Has anyone ever tried a configuration like this?
              Thanks

@Brian : "You will need to use the version of srvctl that matches the version of the resource you are interacting with" is not completely correct.
for example you can't manage 11.2.0.4 ASM with srvctl executed from 11.2.0.4 RDBMS HOME/bin.
    Please see the documentation:
    Server Control Utility Reference
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e41960/srvctladmin.htm#RACAD005
"To manage Oracle ASM on Oracle Database 11g release 2 (11.2) installations, use the SRVCTL binary in the Oracle Grid Infrastructure home for a cluster (Grid home). If you have Oracle RAC or Oracle Database installed, then you cannot use the SRVCTL binary in the database home to manage Oracle ASM."
In case GRID and RDBMS HOMEs were installed with different OS users that won't work either.
You need to execute srvctl from that home from which the resource is running.
    ie.
3 RDBMS Homes and a Grid Home
    1) instance A is running from /opt/oracle/product/11.2/db1 as ora1 user (version 11.2.0.3)
    2) instance B is running from /opt/oracle/product/11.2/db2 as ora2 user (version 11.2.0.4)
    3) instance C is running from /opt/oracle/product/11.2/db3 as ora2 user (version 11.2.0.4)
    4) ASM instance running from /opt/oracle/product/grid as grid user (version 11.2.0.4)
    you have to manage
    instance A with /opt/oracle/product/11.2/db1/bin/srvctl as ora1 user
    instance B with /opt/oracle/product/11.2/db2/bin/srvctl as ora2 user
instance C with /opt/oracle/product/11.2/db3/bin/srvctl as ora2 user (even instance B and instance C has the same version)
ASM instance with /opt/oracle/product/grid/bin as grid
    Thanks,

  • HT1657 why does iTunes store have different content than AppleTV?

I just tried to rent Ghostbusters on AppleTV and it isn't listed. But it is available on iTunes on my desktop computer. How do you sync these up?
    Thanks,
    Louise

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV allows you to choose a preferred resolution for your movies and TV shows. Depending on which resolution you have chosen, only those movies and TV shows available in that resolution will be available for purchase or rent. This will likely explain the differences that you see between the iTunes Store on your computer andthat on the Apple TV.
