My iTunes is completely messed up...

So I went onto my iTunes and my library was gone. At first there were two libraries in the iTunes folder: iTunes Library and iTunes Library_1. One of them had the date created as December 26th and the date modified December 22nd. To start, I'm really hoping this has nothing to do with my computer, but yes, those were the date created and date modified as listed. I know, my computer is implying time travel. Anyway, so I tried to use the older library and it said it was damaged. Now both libraries say today's date as the date modified and created (it was only the "new one" at first) and I'm seeing library files seemingly appear out of nowhere and I just want my old library. D: I do have it on my iPod touch but of course it appears to be impossible to import it onto my computer. SO, first of all what in the world is going on? Now as I'm trying to load my old library, the damaged one, by holding shift while opening iTunes it keeps acting as if this is my first time! The user agreement comes up and it won't let me choose a library and instead takes me to the "first time use" iTunes screen. Gahhhh what's happening? DX I also just got a message that says "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have access privileges for this operation" and it won't stop popping up!. How can I get my old library back? :/
Edit: It's not doing the "first time" stuff anymore thank God, but yeah...

Go to Start
Click computer or my computer
Click C:\
Click Users
Click your account
Click your music
Click itunes folder
Drag the iTunes library.xml and iTunes library.lib files to desktop
Reopen iTunes - it should be empty
Click File>add folder to library> Locate your music folder- choose and should be corrected - unless you have duplcated music in your folder as well

Please set the EQ setting on you iPod to "flat". It does not help, please restore your iPod to factory settings

Why does iTunes make a mess out of my TV Shows library?

I'm not really sure where to post this, as it doesn't seem like Apple pays much attention to the official Apple Support Forums, but I'll give it a go nontheless.
The thing is, as most Apple TV owners I have to rely on iTunes for handling my media library in order to get it working towards my Apple TV (currently an Apple TV 3rd Generation, Rev A) which is perfectly fine. I find iTunes to be very well organised and owning several OS X systems, only using iOS devices and everything my music library already consists of only ALAC (Apple Lossless) music tracks and I like to keep all my audio books in M4B (AAC) simply because it’s much better organized this way. As long as all the metadata is done right one can’t really complain about how iTunes is doing things other than the Windows version being rather slow when you start filling it up with content, the OS X version is vastly superior in terms of performance and overall stability but I guess that is to be expected.
I have absolutely no problems with my ALAC (Apple Lossless) music library, no matter how many tracks I add they are all there, with the correct metadata and everything. Same goes for my audio book library, the only ones being somewhat troublesome are those I’ve got in MP3 format instead of M4B (AAC) as they get automatically listed as music instead of audio books, but that’s fixed within a matter of seconds just marking them as audio book in iTunes metadata. My movie library, which used to consists of loads of self-ripped Blu-Rays encoded to MKV’s with either Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 is now repacked into M4V / MP4 containing Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) and with the help of metadata downloaded from IMDB they are all listed correctly with the correct metadata, so all is good and dandy.
But when it comes to TV-Shows things starts to get messy. We are still talking about only M4V / MP4 files containing mostly Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) audio tracks, and a few containing 2.0 AAC audio tracks. The problem is iTunes is making a complete mess out of things, no matter what I do.
Some TV-shows are added and shown correctly in my iTunes library, others are just not working out at all! Take my six seasons of LOST for instance.
I tried to redo the metadata on the first six episodes of season 06, but they just won’t show no matter what I do. The weirdest thing with these episodes is that when I manually play the M4V files using iTunes, iTunes recognise them as LOST Season 02 episodes and not Season 03 episodes. So LOST Season 03 - Episode 01 which is "01. A Tale of Two Cities" is shown as LOST Season 02 - Episode 10 which is "10. The 23rd Psalm". That's quite odd, which was the reason why I went ahead and rework the metadata of these episodes just to be sure.
But still it won’t show in the iTunes library and when manually opening the M4V files with iTunes it still shown as being "10. The 23rd Psalm" instead of "01. A Tale of Two Cities". If I open the file with QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic Home Cinema they all list it as "01. A Tale of Two Cities" and not "10. The 23rd Psalm" as iTunes does. Watching the playback is making quite clear it's indeed playing back A Tale of Two Cities and not The 23rd Pslam episodes, even in iTunes.
I have no clues why iTunes is making a mess out of the first six episodes of LOST Season 03, it really doesn't make much sense as there is nothing with the M4V files, their contains or their metadata that points towards iTunes recognising it as a LOST Season 2 episode at all.
Just to confirm the metadata in iTunes I tried to remove the whole LOST series from my library and went ahead and added ONLY the first six episodes of Season 03 and nothing else. Then they are showing correctly, with the correct metadata for each and every episode.
But upon adding the rest of the bunch they disappear and suddenly iTunes starts mixing the first six episodes of Season 03 as Season 02 episodes...
As soon as I add any episode of LOST Season 02, 10-15 they seem to replace LOST Season 03, 1-6. So Season 03 is working perfectly, having all the right metadata and everything but as soon as I add LOST Season 02, Episode 10, LOST Season 03, Episode 01 starts playing as LOST Season 02, Episode 10 and then disappears from the library. Upon adding and playing back LOST Season 02, Episode 11 it replaces LOST Season 03, Episode 02 which then disappears from the library and this goes on for episode 10-15 of Season 02 which for some reason replaces episode 01-06 of Season 03.
This isn’t isolated to only LOST, same goes for a few of my House M.D season whereas iTunes is starting make a mess of things mixing metadata of Season 3 with metadata of Season 4 for no obvious reason. This is quite frustrating as this renders my Apple TV quite useless when iTunes is not capable of handling my media library correctly.
Several episodes are missing in quite a few of my various TV Shows as well, some requires me to manually open the M4V / MP4 while browsing my library for it to get listed as it’s not being added while adding the folder to my library.
This has been going on ever since iTunes 10.X, and it’s behaving like this on all my system it being Windows 7, Windows 8, OS X Mountain Lion or OS X Mavericks. Surely something has to be done in order to solve this? There is nothing wrong with my M4V / MP4 files as I’ve re-ripped them, re-encoded them, re-done their metadata and everything without any luck and consider it only happens with various TV shows and not with my music, audio book nor my movie library I see nothing pointing at it being a problem with my content but rather iTunes making it all fuzzy for no apparent reason.

Seems like I actually figured out what was going on.. When I re-do my MKV's into MP4 / M4V's applications like Subler, MKVtoMP4 and other toolkits are grabbing metadata from servers like IMDB.
Upon retrieving metadata they also grab something called "XID" which is supposedly Apple's very own iTunes specific ID or serial if you like for each specific TV show available through the iTunes Store. This seems to be causing the problems with missing episodes and episodes starting to playback as a different episode from another season.
I always wondered why House Season 04 - Episode 01 - "Alone" always got played back as House Season 03 - Episode 11 - "Words of Deeds". It was always the exact same mix-up each and every time. iTunes never seems to mix-up anything other than the same specific episodes each and every time, and all the missing episodes are always the same ones, from the same TV show, from the very same season. I always found that a bit strange as I would expect library mix-ups from iTunes to be somewhat random and not consistent like this.
So I tried to simply tried something completely random, renaming House Season 04 - Episode 01 - "Alone" into "RARW Season 11 - Episode 42 - "Come at me bro"" and House Season 03 - Episode 11 - "Words of Deeds" into "TESTING Season 04 - Episode 05 - "Testing this"" and it will still do the same, now my randomly generated metadata of "RARW Season 11 - Episode 42 - "Come at me bro"" was played back as "TESTING Season 04 - Episode 05 - "Testing this"". So it clearly had nothing to do with whatever metadata I added to the video within iTunes, it would continuously mix-up the very same episode no matter what.
So then I grab my toolkit to see what kind of information was garter from IMDB's database to see if I could spot anything weird going on? I didn't really see anything, but I noticed the XID with it's "Apple:vendor_id:2003-tt0367279" input, so even though these two episodes had different XIDs I tried to simply input my very own like "House Season 03" and "House Season 04" and then all of sudden everything worked out perfectly.
I'm not entirely sure whos to blame here. As the XID was indeed different I see no reason why iTunes should confuse one for the other in the first place, perhaps there is something fuzzy with the iTunes database or something. I don't really care though, I see no value in having the "correct" XID as long as my iTunes library is showing and playing back everything correctly so now I have just went ahead and re-done ALL my XID's of every TV Show to have their very own for each season just to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

ITunes Match completely freezes iTunes at opening

So, I just upgraded to iTunes Match last night, and then iTunes got stuck at step one for over 5 hours, and I had to reset my computer for another program, so I did so. Now, my iTunes automatically connects to the iTunes store to do the whole iTunes Match stuff and freezes within two seconds of the program being open, and that is not an exaggeration.
I have no idea what to do. I have no way of accessing ANY of my music now, and I spent $25 on a program that freezes the entire application. I am so frustrated and I have absolutely no idea what to do.
All help is appreciated.

UPDATE: I've managed to get the 13" MBP working by removing my iTunes folder completely and letting iTunes sync from scratch. Bizarrely though, all the songs from iTunes Match are showing up, even though according to the menu iTunes match is still off! I don't know what they have done in iTunes 11, but it is a mess. But at least I can access all my songs. Unfortunately, I can't do the same on the other two machines because they contain songs that aren't matched.
They are also still running iTunes 10.7. I downgraded my rMBP because it screwed up Podcasts and importing files from CD.

Itunes 7.02 messed up my Itunes Music folder

Hello all, I love iTunes 7.02 and I'm overjoyed that I haven't had stability issues (fingers crossed). HOWEVER - I noticed that iTunes 7 really took an axe to my iTunes 4 Music folder. I was very cautious about upgrading - so before I upgraded, I uninstalled iTunes 4 completely to try and avoid upgrade issues. However, my iTunes music folder is now a complete mess - CDs have become compilations, some folders are now empty, and music is just not where it's supposed to be! What's especially bad is that if some CD's have songs with multiple artists...instead of grouping those songs with the album, it has created separate folders for new artists! This has had the obvious effect of really taking a dent out of my poor harddrive and I was wondering if there is anyway I could fix it??? Otherwise - I'm guessing that I"m going to have to just delete my music and start over??? Much thanks!

Essentially, the problem is that if you uninstall an old version of iTunes and then install the new iTunes 7, it will completely re-arrange (aka totally mess up) your library and how it is stored on your computer and use up tons of your hard disk. Consider this and maybe choose simply upgrading instead!

View of my device is completely messed up

Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 10, the screen under "devices" that shows what's on my iPhone is completely messed up. The main screen shows headings for "iPhone," "Version" and "Options," but each of those sections is blank. Also, there are no tabs for music, movies, apps, etc. It's all gone. Any suggestions on how to get it back?

Synching iPod Touch with iTunes latest versions messes up e-mail progams on the Touch; help

Twice now in the past week I have synched my 64GB latest model iPod Touch with the latest version of iTunes and it has completely messed up my e-mail programs on the Touch; I cannot get or send e-mails. I have to delete the e-mail accounts and then add them back in so that I can receive and send e-mails. What has caused this and how can I eliminate this from happening in the future when I sync? Yes, I find it strange, too but it has happened both times I have synched the Touch in the past week. iTunes was updated right before the first time this happened. I have Verizon for my e-mail and it would not work on the Touch but I was able to send and receive emails on my desk top. It is frustrating to say the least to spend time deleting and then adding the e-mail accounts to the Touch.

First thought: Have you used the same Apple ID for all the purchases you're talking about? If not, that could cause an issue.
Assuming you've used the same Apple ID all the way through everything you're talking about, here's the second set of questions:
When you say you can't play the songs from the iPhone playlist, can you see the playlist on the iPhone? Is the song visible in the playlist? Is it visible under "Songs" in iTunes on your iPhone? Is it visible in "Albums" on your iPhone? Is the song in iCloud?

Why do I keep getting problems with Apple not recognizing my email password? This suddenly started and just reminds me of the mess that mobileme was. Calendar dev also is not working. What a complete mess!

Can't access my email - endless messages saying password is wrong, which it is not. Mobileme all over again. I now need to forward all Apple mail to GMail, which is how an email system should work. Same is true with the calendar - a complete mess on the integration with my Google calendar.
This is really, really a pain!!

OK this is Cormacin Texas - these idiots have put me through the hoops, effectively locking me out of the support forum. Anyway I've solved the problem - it took 3.5 hours, involved a trip to the Genius bar at the local Apple store, and one and a half hours escalating through the dial-in help support - which was about the only thing the Genius was good for.
What you need to know is:
1. Apple are having problems with their servers, but have not published the fact - we've all wasted a lot of time because these guys want to keep their Customer Sat scores high, I guess. (I'm starting to feel like one of their Chinese factory workers!)
2. This server problem is compounded by the fact that it only affects a few random servers
3. It in turn can lead to problems sending emails which require you to change your Apple Mail password, and in my case surgically remove bad records for various hidden email and library folders. (Good luck with that!)
So, a problem that they hide, a knock-on set of work that the problem indirectly causes, which they also hide, and a support structure that is geared for hardware, not the services that they are now selling.
My suggestion is to change your mail password using the web (icloud.com) access to Mail and see if that works. After that, remove and reset up your Apple email (Preferences) and pray that you don't have to join endless telephone answering lines where some of the folks will cut you off because they can't be arsed.
The two guys that finally helped me were brilliant, knew their stuff and could not have done a better job. The key guy was Danny - if you get him, your golden!

HT1529 The latest version of iTunes has completely changed my ability to access my iTunes. I can no longer burn a CD that will play on anything other than another computer.

I'm using iTunes 11.1.1 on a Mac mini running OS 10.7.5 and I burn CDs which play in this machine's external optical drive, my car, and the Pioneer audio CD players downstairs. I typically use Verbatim recordble CDs. After selecting the playlist I want to burn, I make sure that "Audio CD" is selected - this has always been the default for me. If this isn't working for you, I don't know what to say - but I'd suspect the drive you're using to burn CDs is getting wonky.
