My iTunes is disabled

I have 2 iPod shuffles, iPod, 1 iPad 2, iPhone 4S and just added the iPad 4 to my iTunes account.  It is now saying my iTunes account is disabled.  I can't update any of my apps or add new music.  I have deleted my password and created a new one.  I have done everything I have read in the comments to try to get it reinstalled again but nothing is working.  How do I contact iTunes to get this straightened out?  Thanks for any help!

    Hi ...
Just be cause the account was disabled (Apple ID) doesn't mean you can't reset the password and have access to your iTunes purchases.
Use the iforgot link to reset your password > Apple ID: "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons" alert appears
If you have problems resetting, use the email form here >   Apple - Support - iTunes Store - Contact Us

Make sure that you do not press the Shift key if you start Firefox.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.

  • ITunes appears "disabled" after installing iLife

I've tried to find an answer to my problem by reading the other discussion questions, but I haven't seen anything quite like it....
Background: I had trouble installing iLife 04. (Yes, I know it's an old version, but I had put it off because everytime I try to install something new it gets screwed up!) It kept telling me that something was "in use" and couldn't be installed. I was advised to open activity monitor / highlight "iTunes Helper" under "Process name" and click "Quit process". Well, it worked, but my iTunes icon in the dock ended up with a question mark on it, and I couldn't open it. In playing around with the icon it "poofed" out of sight. I can find "iTunes" and my libraries in "Users" on the hard drive, but I can't open iTunes. Some of the items in the libraries appear with music icons in front of them (the iTune icon) and some have a document icon in front of them. Trying to open things gives me an "unexpected error code 10660". I realized after I installed iLife 04 that I was probably installing a LOWER version of iTunes (I already had upgraded to 6. something) so I ran my software updates and there were updates for iDVD, iMovie, and iPhoto (as I expected there would be) but none for iTunes. I went online and downloaded the latest iTunes thinking that that might solve the problem, but when I tried to install that, it kept telling me that I couldn't because I already had a higher version installed. It kept showing iTunes as "disabled". I'm afraid to try anything else for fear that I may screw it up even more!

Remove the 'iTunesX.pkg' file from Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts.
This file tells the Installer that iTunes 6 already is installed.
Removing it should fix the installation problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes account disabled, repeatedly by Apple

every week i have to reset my iTunes account...any ideas?
i won't keep a credit card on file for security reasons, could this be the culprit?

Here is what fixed it for us:
After troubleshooting the issue we determined that my wife's MobileMe account was being disabled every time she tried to buy something from iTunes, or update her apps on her iPhone. So her account may have been legitimately disabled the first time by hacking attempt or someone using the wrong ID, but every time after that was because we didn't know to do the following in iTunes. First, re-enable the account and set a new password (this is the most frustrating part, because over the last month we have churned through a LOT of passwords). Then from iTunes go to Store\Sign Out. If you have an iPhone go to Settings\Store\Sign Out. Now sign back into both places with your new password. After doing this her account no longer locks when she tries to buy something from iTunes or update her apps on her phone. For some reason the "10 attempts before disable" rule does not apply with iTunes even though it is the same account as MobileMe. iTunes would disable the account immediately upon trying to make a purchase. It would be nice if iTunes gave you a chance to type the new password when it found a mismatch rather than disable the account immediately.
For the record; many e-mails, IMs, and a call to Apple support were completely useless, every time the account was disabled we were told that was because someone tried an incorrect password 10 times. Thanks to everyone who posts their findings out here, we wouldn't have figured this out without your help. I hope what worked for us will work for you.

  • ITunes keeps disabling me

I bought a new computer (iMac) and now iTunes keeps disabling my computer. I authorise it and Apple deauthorizes it. Why?

Check in you iTunes account how many computers have already been authorized. If it is 5, then you will need to deauthorize at least one, or all.

  • Itunes wont disable disk usage

Ok so heres the deal: I just upgraded to a new desktop that runs under windows vista and thought that moving my old library to this new computer would be a snap. I checked out this site for directions on using my 30g classic as a hard drive to make the move. I followed the directions step by step and everything went smoothly up until the "Switch the iPod back to automatic update". I unchecked the Enable disk use tab, hit Apply, synced all my tunes back onto my iPod, but for some reason all the data from my old library is still on it. And it wont let me eject my iPod because it says it contains files that are in use by another application. How can get all that info off my ipod safely?
edit: in a nutshell, I should only have 10.57 gigs of music on my iPod, but it still shows that i have 10.57 gigs of music and 12.40 gigs of "other"
Also, where did all my play lists, ratings, and playcounts go? Can I get them back somehow?

Disabling the "Enable disk usage" should prevent the iPod shuffle from being mounted as a volume on the Mac desktop. In fact, this is exactly what happens in other iPods that allows disk usage.
That's right, but the iPod shuffle is a much simpler design than the bigger iPods, and apparently does not support this. In my experience, the iPod shuffle is generally mounted as a volume whenever it is connected. It also seems that iTunes requires the iPod shuffle to be mounted in order to synchronize it. iTunes will automatically unmount it after synchronization if disk use is disabled, but temporarily mount it again each time it needs to resynchronize it later.
And now it's working. The iPod shuffle NO LONGER mounts on the desktop. Exactly the way it should be with my settings.
I'm afraid that you may be mistaken. Please try the following:
    - Quit iTunes.
    - Open a Finder window (with the sidebar showing the volumes).
    - Now connect your iPod shuffle and wait about 10 seconds.
    - The iPod volume should appear in the side bar (and on the desktop).
    - The iPod shuffle's LED will be blinking yellow because it is mounted.
    - Now start iTunes, which will synchronize the iPod.
    - Afterwards the iPod volume will disappear.
    - At this time the iPod shuffle's LED will turn to steady yellow or green.
    - Arrange windows so that you see both iTunes and the Finder window.
    - Select the iPod shuffle in iTunes under Devices.
    - Change anything, e.g. drag one song to a different position.
    - This will cause iTunes to synchronize the iPod shuffle again.
    - While this happens the iPod volume will temporarily reappear.

  • Music-Download from Safari goes directly to iTunes. Disable it?

    Hello dear users
Always when i download some tracks from safari, the data starts to play. Due to that reason it's automatticly linked with iTunes. How do i disable this issue?
    Thanks for your answers.
    Greetings

    Hello Eustace Mendis
Thanks a lot for your request. It helped me a lot.
Actually this didn't solve the problem, but just below the line "Save downloaded files to:" I found a option to disable. Due to my translation skills from german into english it should be: "Automattically open downloaded files"
Now all files won't open by themselfe after downloading it. This means, that the Music-Data doesn't go directly to iTunes . So I can tune the file before I drop it into iTunes. Perfect!
    Greetings

  • Itunes has disabled my dvd drive

I upgraded to itunes 9 and now my dvd player will not work and my computer does not recognize it. I had it serviced and fixed last week and it was working and the guy stated it was a problem in i tunes. When it was fixed it worked until I connected my ipod to charge it. I have uninstalled itunes and it still doesn't work. I am at a loss of what to do. I have tried working on the registry and that didn't work. Any other ideas?

This is commonly attributed to a problem with the GEAR drivers that iTunes installs. Historically, people suggested that you try reinstalling gear drivers, and when that didn't work, modify registry entries to disable GEAR (in which case burning discs is disabled and you may get a nagging message to that effect every time you start iTunes). Looks like they've since found a solution, but I haven't tested it:
