My iTunes is not allowing my ipod restore or update is there any way i could fix this problem?

Oce i forgot my ipod at a frineds hose and it randomly apears today and now im tring to restore it and give it the up dates but its not responding is says that there is a error or that network sever isnt working and i really don know what is happening. Also when i hit reset to erase all the content and it doesnt work im like a bit ancius cause it doesnt even have one year and i got a new pc and there an error E8000012 problem showing up im writing this as my last resort of help plz help me solve this problem.

There's only one thing you can do: make an appointment with Apple genius at the Apple retail store for a out of warranty replacement.

Probably nothing. Apple doesn't support the iPod Touch 2G anymore. My display is cracked, and i'm thinking of replacing it myself. You can also do that with lock button. Just google it, and you'll probably find how to do it.

B-rock, thanks for posting the above. I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\. When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message. I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?

Sorry, but as KP guessed, Apple will not exchange the card, and you are correct that you can't use a US iTunes card in Canada. You will need to give or sell it to someone in the US.

A restore might not even fix it; a fair amount of the time, when the Wi-Fi is grayed out it is a hardware issue.

Hold down the power button and home button at the same time until the phone powers on, shuts back off, powers on again and continue to hold it until it shows the itunes logo to plug in to itunes. This should allow you to restore without unlocking it.

Try Resetting the PRAM and SMC on the iMac.
Instructions for your iMac will be on the Apple support site, some models differed in how to perform this.

What is the error message? Have you tried adding content onto your iPod in smaller batches, say a couple of hundred songs or so? Does the error always appear at a particular song?

Your friend should not keep someone elses iphone without making every attempt to fget it to the rightful owner.
