My iTunes is only showing music in the cloud.

This just started happening last night. All of a sudden, all of my playlists are gone and iTunes is only showing music from the cloud. All of my music is on my local computer but it doesn't appear in iTunes. I've turned off the cloud functionality and then no music is displayed at all.  Because of this issue, my phone's music is no longer syncing to iTunes since I use a play list to sync. Same issue with my movies and apps. The entire library in iTunes has been replaced by the cloud. iTunes Match and Genius are turned off. They were never turned on.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • ITunes library only shows music in the cloud, how do I tell it to show the library on my hard drive?  iTunes 11.0.2.26

I don't know how this happened.
I opened iTunes last night and the player only lists items from the cloud, which is a small percentage of my itunes library - no podcasts, no playlists.  Somehow the iTunes players has "forgotten" that my music library is on my hard drive.
How do I tell the iTunes player where to look for my library?  In About iTunes, the version I am running is 11.0.2.26
Also, how did some random songs/albums end up on the cloud when I didn't put them there?  Some of the songs were purchased through itunes but not all and not all of my purchased songs, etc. show up on the cloud.  I'm so confused.
    Thans for your help!

    See this post.

  • Why itunes uses tags from itunes store instead of my personlizaed tags when the show music form the cloud is activated?

When the option show music from the cloud is activated itunes overwrites the music tags from each song that was bought in the itunes stores, using the orignal tags from the store, this is very anoying

  • Ipod touch shows up under devices on the left in itunes, but only shows "ipod" to the right

I have an ipod touch 4th generation 64 gb. I connected to iTunes using usb cord. normally, the device shows up in the left hand column of itunes. then on the right, you have the ipod info - summary- music- apps, etc. however, the only thing i get on the right is just the word "ipod" nothing else. no links or tabs or even a sync button. please help

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • ITunes Match only shows music I bought on iTunes

I have a new Apple TV and just subscribed to iTunes Match. On my iPad I can access my entire library of music from the iTunes Match cloud (things I bought from iTunes and things I bought elsewhere).  On my Apple TV, when I go to "My Music" all I see are the songs I have purchased from iTunes. The rest of my library doesn't show up (and that's a LOT of music).
Is Apple TV's iTunes Match limited just to iTunes purchases? I hope not because that would make it nearly useless.

Thanks for the help guys, but I might need to clarify some things as I think we're talking about different things.
AirPlay works - I can play anything off of my iPad through Apple TV.  Since my iPad can access my entire iTunes Match library then I can stream anything in it through Apple TV.
Home Sharing works - I can access my iTunes library on my computer via Apple TV when I've got iTunes up and running on the computer.
What does not work is using iTunes Match on my Apple TV.  I have turned on iTunes Match on my Apple TV, but the only songs that show up on my Apple TV are ones that I purchased on iTunes.
I want to be able to access my iTunes Match library via my Apple TV without using Home Sharing or AirPlay.  Those options work great when I'm home, but sometimes I take my computer and iPad to work and my family will not have access to them.

  • I recently bought a new computer, downloaded itunes and all my music from the cloud, made a few more purchases on itunes then plugged in my ipod and it wont sync. My ipod is already associated with my itunes account and the computer is authorised...

I have a new laptop which will not sync my ipod to it. I've registered the computer, this is the only ipod associated with this itunes account. It shows the syncing symbol on the laptop and on the ipod but then when i eject the ipod afterwards the new songs have not transfered or my playlists.

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • How to transfer music to the cloud not bought from itunes, how to transfer music to the cloud not bought from itunes

how to transfer music from itunes to the cloud not bought on itunes

You cannot yet transfer music from your system to iCloud. That capability will come with iTunes Match, expected any day now though probably not initially in all countries. iTunes Match will also not be a free service.
    Regards.

  • I restored my HDD and now iTunes won't stream music from the cloud.

As title states, I replaced/restored the HDD in my Mac Mini and everything works perfectly except iTunes Match songs in the Cloud no longer stream in iTunes, they just skip to the next song. They all play fine when explicitly downloaded, but ihave many thousands of songs and it is supposed to work that way. I've tried many solutions and have also seen no one else with this problem. What am I missing here?
    Thanks,

  • Why is my ipad itunes store not showing music at the bottom for browsing of music. It only have podcast n ituneU

Im sick of unable to download song fr i tune!!!

Oh...and I found a faster way to delete ALL songs off my iPad at once.  Here it is for FYI purposes:
Settings ==> General ==> Usage.  Tap the Music icon/line.  In the right side of the screen, it will show your the various selections (say if you have audiobooks on your device, as well as Music).  Click the Edit button at the top right of the screen.  You'll see the red "minus sign" circles show up next to each item.  Tap that red circle and a red delete button shows up further to the right.  Tap the "Delete" button to confirm you want to delete that audiobook or your music.  Press the "Done" button at the top when you are finished.

  • How can the album-art, which is all in iTunes , suddenly only shows partially on the iPod classic 160 gb?

I'm user of iTunes for years and in possession of 2 iPod classics.
For both iPods I have a specific playlist created, which I sync with iTunes. Each of my nearly 50,000 tracks in iTunes comes with the right Album-art (all 500 x 500 pixels and 72 dpi) andeach track contains also the necessary meta data and is converted to 160 or 192 kbps  M4a. In Finder on my MacBook I can see that the M4a files all contain album-art, because the file icons show the album art for each file name! Also in the grid overview of iTunes you can see them all, no exception.
For years that went well. Now,  a week ago, I made a new playlist (16,000 tracks) for one of my iPod classics because I wanted a different content! The old playlist I discarded and synchronized the new one.  Now it appears that a large number of album-art on the iPod is not shown, nor in cover-flow nor during play-back. I then tried to get my new playlist updated by exported as XML and then imported into iTunes again. In that case all tracks from the list are checked for completeness against the library and after import it should be fine. Unfortunately, it is not the case. Still the album-art is not shown for all tracks/albums on the iPod.
I run iTunes (11.2.2 (3)) on a MacBook Pro at the end of 2009, with the latest OSX version (10.9.3) and with enough disk space and memory.
My iTunes library is on a NAS (Synodisk DS209J II plus) the iPods run on the latest sw version (1.1.2) and are both Apple formatted.
I wonder if this is an iPod error or something wrong with the library. I hope you will understand, that I do not want to lose all the metadata of the 50,000 tracks by rebuilding the library, especially things like: date added, number of times played, rating, comments!
I hope someone can provide me an acceptable solution.
    With regards, Sign-X

I'm a bit confused, but I assume you want to shuffle your playlist while you are playing it in iTunes. If this is so, you will actually have to start playing a song before the shuffle button appears, and it appears in the top center panel of your iTunes window. Yeah, I know...

  • Music in the Cloud Won't Show in iTunes

I was trying to fix a playlist sync problem in iTunes on my MacBook Air (the playlists I deleted would re-appear in iTunes after syncing with Match).
I now seem to have a new, much more serious problem.
That is, when I enable iTunes Match and verify "Show Music in the Cloud" option is enabled, NOT ONE SONG THAT IS IN THE CLOUD BUT NOT ON MY MAC SHOWS UP.
    The specifics are as follows:
I have around 3500 of around 5500 songs in iTunes on my mac.
"Turn Off iTunes Match" is the currently available option under the "Store" menu.
"Hide Music in the Cloud" is the currently available option under the "Store" menu.
If I go to my Mac Mini, open iTunes and select "Show Music in the Cloud" it shows all of the roughly 5500 songs that are in iTunes Match.
NOTHING I do on my MacBook Air (turning off iTunes match then turning it back on, choosing "Update iTunes Match" from the Store Menu, selecting "Hide Music in the Cloud" then selecting "Show Music in the Cloud") seems to have any affect.  I'm looking to download a song I purchased on my iPhone but am 100% unable to do so due to this issue.
Can anybody help me fix this issue?  I'm actively paying for a subscription that I'm unable to use, so this isn't exactly reasonable.

I ended up stumbling across this, so I decided to give it a try.  It appeared to fix the issue:

  • How do I backup my music in the cloud to my mac

How do I back up my music from the cloud to my mac?

One of the key steps that you'll need to take is (after signing into the iTunes Store) open the Preferences & choose the "Store tab".
You'll then be able to make sure that the "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases" is selected.
After that, you go to your Library - where you need to select "Music" - be it your songs or your albums. At this point you may see an iCloud icon right next to the selector - or not; if you don't see it, then you'll need to select "View" from the iTunes menu bar. You will then see on the drop down menu list either "Show Music in the Cloud" or "Hide Music in the Cloud"; that's your toggle which you use to unveil your Music in the Cloud icon.
Now there is just one more preference that you may need to use to see all of your iCloud icons and that is also found right under "View"; it's "Show View Options" where you may need to check the box labeled "iCloud Download" from among the various "View Options".
So now that all of your preferences are set, you can plainly see which songs that are in the Cloud (the ones with the Cloud icon right next to the song or right on the album).....or if there is no Cloud icon then it's already in your library or has been downloaded into your Library. To download a song or album just click on the Cloud icon & it begins to download into your library.
So now you can choose which songs &/or albums you wish to download or re-download - depending how you wish to manage your iTunes library - which I won't go into here as there are so many options in addition to what we've gone over.
I hope that I've been able to help as there are so many preferences & options, indeed.
    Enjoy

If they are iTunes purchased music then go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and turn off Show All.
    Next
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • TS3697 My new iTunes does not show me a PHOTOS tab when syncing my iPad 3. It only shows Music, Films and Apps tabs on the top left menu.

My new iTunes does not show me a PHOTOS tab when syncing my iPad 3. It only shows Music, Films and Apps tabs on the top left menu.
What am I going to do?

The Photos tab doesn't appear there. If you are on iTunes 11 on your computer then you may want to re-enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), which might make it easier to navigate and my instructions may make more sense.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes (if you've enabled the sidebar), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos e.g. :
If you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you haven't enabled the sidebar, then from your library click 'iPad' at the top right of the screen and you should get a series of buttons along the top of the screen, including one for Photos
