That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

• Why does itunes crash upon opening after the software update?

Why does itunes crash upon opening after the software update? Everything worked fine until I decided to update this morning and as soon as the computer rebooted, the error message appeared. Is there anything available to fix this?

I answered the same question in a similar post. It's all to do with the wireless sync.
I used the following method to stop iTunes from constantly restarting -
Open task manager
Select the 'Processes' tab.
Look for 'iTunesHelper.exe'
Select 'iTunesHelper.exe' then click on 'end process'
Hope this helps.

• Itunes keeps freezing just after it is opened!

After attempting to download the latest version of iTunes, I had the message that the download had not installed successfully and should attempt a manual download and install. However, every time I open iTunes it freezes after a minute or so and Task Manager informs me that iTunes is not responding. I've re-started my PC several times but the problem persists! Any ideas?

• Itunes problems after last Windows update was installed.

After an update to Windows XP a couple days ago, everytime I turn on iTunes, thing go bad. A blank internet explorer window came up several times and essentially froze, and any attempt to close it met with a window that the program wasn't responding. I was unable to close it, and was unable to use Ctr-Alt-Del, and was unable to shut down the computer. The only solution was to do an emergency shutdown with the power button, and then eventually everything came back although very slowly. The same thing happened again if iTunes was turned on.
It seems like itunes and IE are now incompatible so I suspect that that update added some security measure which interferes with the itunes and its internet connection.
Anyone have a simple solution? I could try a restore but I may not be able to get back far enough?

I uninstalled KB 2446708 (Security Update for .NET Framework 4) ... took forever to uninstall, like 20 minutes.... And now Firefox starts up normally!
By the way, my Firefox is version 3.6.17, running on Windows Vista 64bit. I try to avoid all the new updates like IE9. Perhaps I should try avoiding .NET Framework 4 as well.

• ITunes keeps freezing shortly after starting.

I think it is occuring when its connecting to iTunes match. Have latest version of iTunes and I have already restarted my computer. When I restarted my computer I also got a message that I could not connect to iCloud ecause of a server issue. Are these two things related?

Oh never mind. It's suddenly working again.

• My itunes won't start after the latest update, it says, "itunes.exe bad image

After I installed the lastest itunes and went to start itunes, I got an error: itunes.exe bad image. and inside the error box said, " C:\Windows\system32\dssenh.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installiing the progam again using the original installation media or contact yoour system administrator or the software vendor for support."
What to do? I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it numerous times. HELP!!

• Why do the tabs now have multiple favicon images showing after the last update?

The last update to Firefox has created a problem with the tabs. The tabs now have multiple images of the websites favicon showing. When I open a tab and go to a website, when the favicon shows it will then create multiple images of that favicon. When I click off the tab and back on it, they disappear but this obviously should not be happening and didn't start until the last update was installed. I even did a Refresh and that didn't fix the problem. I tried to upload an image but the area just has a spinning wheel and the image size was only 5.41kb. Apparently that isn't working so well either. It appears Mozilla Firefox has created some bugs for it's browser and help forum.
If anyone knows how to fix this or to get Mozilla to fix their problem, it would be appreciated. Thank you!

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
