You need to use a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • Itunes library doesn't see all the songs on my ipod

i manage my music manually as i have more disc space on my ipod than on my hard drive. so i just add stuff to my ipod one album at a time as i get it.
fast forward to me wanting to make a mix cd of the stuff on my ipod, and since i can't get any of the songs off my ipod through itunes i just used yamipod to move them back to my computer to burn to a cd. problem now is that all the music i've added since upgrading to the new itunes isn't showing up on my ipod, yet the space is still gone. when i use windows to search for the music, it shows up and will play in windows media player, but the ipod seems to think these songs are gone.
is there any way to get it to "see" these songs? or does itunes JUST look at the db file ONLY?
    TIA!!

First off, I would STRONGLY suggest that a external hard drive would make you life much easier by at least being able to back up your songs on the external drive for when you need them. Even if you don't want them in the iTunes library, you can have them all ready on the external to be re-added as needed. You can get 100's of gigs for under $100 shipped.
Anyway, since you used Yamipod, are all the songs back on the computer? If so, I would go ahead and restore the iPod, let iTunes then resync everything back to the iPod, then switch it back to manual and see if the restore and resync clears up the issue.

  • Just bought a new pc and now my itunes library hasn't got all the songs on it after logging in

i had a very full i tunes library on my old pc, i have bought a new laptop and have transferred everything over to the new pc but when logging into itunes there isnt half the songs we own on there, i thought it was all on a cloud and can access on any pc? i have authorised my new pc to my account and sync all ipods we own, but i want all my songs in my itunes library
    any help

If you transferred "everything" over then that should have included your iTunes library. However the default location for an iTunes library may be different in Windows 7 from your previous version, or the copied data may not be in the correct location. Your library won't be in the cloud yet. As far as I'm aware the full service isn't active yet.
If you can find the iTunes library folder within the files that were transferred then you can either move it into the "correct" location, or persuade iTunes to connect to it where it is now. Alternatively transfer your iTunes library from your old computer, assuming you haven't disposed of it already.

  • ITunes backup is not finding all the song files

I lost my external hard drive that held my iTunes folder. I had a backup on my drobo from 30 days ago so I copied this to a new external drive in a new "Music" folder.
This iTunes backup had not yet been consolidated and organized into a "iTunes Media' folder yet - that was what I had just lost with all of my updates and cleanup (which worked well - then). I figured I would have to do it all again.
When I opened up iTunes with the Option key and pointed it to the new Music/iTunes folder, it came up with all the movies, tv shows, podcasts, books, apps, songlists and songs listed but everyone of them had next to the file the "!" (Can not find file, do you want to locate?). I tried locating a dozen or so but iTunes would never relocate larger numbers on its own.
I tried consoldiating and re-organizing these files but I am always left with thousands and thousands of unreferenced files - even though this was the same folder structure and iTune Library and Music Library.xmls that were working a month ago on the old drive.
Any suggestions as to how to get this recent iTunes folder to "see" all the same files in this new location?
    Thanks for any help,

    try this script:
    iTunes Track CPR v1.3
This script attempts to locate the files of so-called "dead tracks"--iTunes tracks designated with (!)--that you assume are not actually missing but are still located in the iTunes Music folder in their "iTunes File Order" (Music -> Artist -> Album -> file.xxx)."

  • I have been using iPod touch and iTunes with Windows XP - no problems.  I now have a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium.  When I try to sync the iPod with Windows 7 and iTunes it will not transfer all my photographs.  What can I do?

When I tried to sync my iPod Touch with my new computer none of the photographs were synced.  I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  When I did it the first time the photographs were all muddled up in their albums.  When I tried to sync again the photographs were all removed.  On the third try I received an error message something like 'Unable to sync photographs program cannot be found.' Can anyone help.  (It may be to do with Windows 7 and Libraries??)

  • HT1420 My Itunes Library will not open at all. the icon will spin when i click on it but it won't open

My Itunes Library will not open at all. When I click on Itunes the icon spins and nothing will pull up.

Try resetting your device. Hold down the sleep and home keys, ignoring the red power down slider, and release the buttons when you see hte silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
You won't lose any data, it's juat the apple equivalent of 'control/alt/delete' and often clears up glitches

  • Itunes library will not close down all the way

My iTunes library will not close down all the way.  When I close the library I am unable to log back in or turn my computer off because itunes is still running although I x'd it out.

You're right, you shouldn't have to do that.
Well, you didn't say whether you've tried uninstalling & reinstalling itunes. Make sure it's installed with an admin user account. Then go into the WIndows Event Viewer and see if there are any error messages about any of the itunes processes in the installation package. That could give us a clue of what's going wrong.
Another thing that could be causing the problem is the "apple push" part of itunes, APSDaemon.exe. Read wiclee's post here about it.

I do not want itunes match to  sync  or upload the little bit of purchased music i have on my itunes now..Please Help Thanks..

    Hello gogreenj14,
If you had iTunes Match updated with all of your non iTunes purchased content already, then yes, when you enable iTunes Match with the following article it will have all the content that has been uploaded to iTunes Match will be available for download.
iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913
Open the latest version of iTunes on the computer you intend to add. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Sign in with the Apple ID you use with iTunes Match.
Choose Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
Click the Add This Computer button.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
iTunes will automatically begin scanning your computer's library for matches.
A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume the process at any time by clicking the Stop or Start button.
Once iTunes has completed matching and uploading your iTunes library, your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • How can I get my music in my itunes library on my ipad? If I sync the itunes library will I lose all my apps on my ipad?

how can I get my music in my itunes library on my ipad? If I sync the itunes library will I lose all my apps on my ipad?

Media was moved via external hard disk, and I think I moved the iTunes Media folder after consolidating it.

  • My iTunes library will not completely sync to neither my iPad nor my iPhone -- both are completely updated with the latest software. What do I have to do?? When I try to do the "autofill" option when connected to iTunes it says "no songs can be copied"

My iTunes library will not completely sync to neither my iPad nor my iPhone -- both are completely updated with the latest software. What do I have to do?? When I try to do the "autofill" option when connected to iTunes it says "no songs can be copied"...I literally bought some of these songs yesterday on my iPhone and now I can't sync them to my iPad. What is this issue? Usually I would just have to plug either device into iTunes and everything would sync, now nothing new syncs.

On your iPad tap Settings > Store
Switch Books off then back on then reset your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Itunes Library will not open!!!!!    itunes Library will not open!!!!!

    Hello,
This is very frustrating that hundreds of people view these questions and only a few people answer. The issue here is that my itunes Library will not open. I'd sure like to know what is causing this and if it's gone forever.
    WinXP. Pro.
I have many Mp3 music files under the same playlist names as in my ipod, i:e: Country,Jazz,Blues,Classic Rock, Alternative, vocal, light sounds, etc. When I drag new mp3 music files into my ipod library, then sync to my ipod, Itunes makes a backup of itune music files in their folder..I think. Anyway, those mp3 muic files are still on the Hard drive, but I can not open up my itunes Library. is it Gone????
Sooooooooooooooo...I was slap-happy in upgrading my itunes software for my 80GB fith gen ipod for the kick of it. I downloaded the new updates.then tried to open my itunes library and it wouldn't open...I hooked up my Ipod thinking that may help open up the Library, but nothing.
I tried the system restore, nothing. I uninstalled itunes, then reinstalled the itunes/quicktime download from apple. I clicked on the itunes icon on the desktop a few times and then a few times more, nothing. I guess I'm missing the itunes.ink file to open this up. regardless, I went to the Windows/Start/programs/itunes...nothing again. Windows Explorer/C:/ program files/itunes...nothing.
I was afraid when I uninstalled the itunes software from before,it would erase the itunes Library, but the music is still on my hard drive,I just can't open the itunes Library. At this point,I should buy an external hard drive and transfer all my Mp3 files and the itunes music files/podcasts/photos,wipe the hard drive, reinstall the O.S. and start all over again.
I'm guessing I am out of options with this itune Libray. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Still unanswered. I'm still trying to install itunes so I could use the library. I am removing Mp3 files from my hard drive to free up space,so if I ever do get the itunes setup,I'll have to remove the SYNC and do the manual so I ONLY transfer Podcasts into the ipod and not lose them becuase of the unchecked boxes.
Ok, I uninstalled EVERYTHING that has to do with Itunes/ipod from the computer..Add/remove programs, serch all files/folders,Windows Explorer,Start>All programs, the Itune reference. Turned off all my Firewall, spyware, and anti-virus,,downloaded the new 7.5 version Itunes/ipod...saved to desktop, installed the new software...then NADA! NOTHING! I can click on the shortcut desktop icon, and all the other ways to click the software open, but nothing. peole on other sites reccomend Tag and rename and use the Winamp media Library, because of all the lack of personal customer support APPLE lacks. I guess I was a Big FOOL to spend my hard earned $350.00 for this ipod.

  • One of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the ipod because they cannot be played on this ipod

i have been trying to figure what the problem with my ipod touch is, im downloading songs from a different source and not itunes store, recently i have had a msg being displayed at the end of synching 'some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the ipod because they cannot be played on this ipod'. however the songs play fine in itunes.
i have re-installed itunes several times, deleted all my music and iported it again. retored my ipod and still i have the same msg. its only stating 8 songs so far that cannot be copied onto my ipod. please can someone help as ive tried everything that i can possibly do. thanks.

    Hello mobyash,
Have you tried converting each of these 8 tracks to a different file format and seeing if they will then sync to your iPod.  See this Apple support document for information and instructions on how to convert a song to a different format.

  • HT1351 Whenever I try to sync music to my ipod from itunes, it will go through all the steps up until it actually downloads the music, then it starts, and doesnt move. Why wont it download anything?

Whenever I try to sync music to my ipod from itunes, it will go through all the steps up until it actually downloads the music, then it starts, and doesnt move. Why wont it download anything?

    Try here:
    iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Not updating the iOS should not effect your problem.
As long as all the apps are in the iTunes library, you will not lose app data by updating the iOS.

  • Mp3s in Library will not transfer to iPod

Yesterday I used Real Player plus Audio Hijack pro to download a series of BBC comedy programs (from BBC7). The MP3 files were stored on my desktop. I double clicked each one and iTunes (v 5.01) opened and imported them into the library. I dragged them into existing playlists where they played perfectly on the computer.
I then connected my iPod photo and it went through an automatic update. Two of the newly downloaded files did not appear on the iPod. When I "get Info" about the files that did not transfer, they are located in the folder: iTunes Music: Podcasts: Unknown Podcast: file1.mp3 and similarly for file2.mp3
Each one appears as an MPEG audio file with format MPEG-2 level 3. Several other Real Player downloads from the same source work fine on the iPod. They are also MPEG-2 level 3 but are in folders other than "podcasts: unknown podcasts.
No matter what I do, for example deleting the two files from iTunes library and then dropping them manually on the library or on the playlist, they end up in the same unknown podcast folder.
Is there some specific reason why two of my files would go into this "unknown podcast" folder ? Is this the reason they will not transfer to the iPod? Is there some way of forcing them into the music folder? (No they do not show up under the Podcast playlist).
Am I on the wrong track completely?

    Curt;
Thanks for the suggestion. I have checked the two offending files and there seems to be nothing different about them. They were digitized at 64 kb/s - the same as the others made on the same day which transfer to and play on my iPod. I have even selected them in the iTunes library and used Advanced--> convert to MP3. They get resampled and converted to 128 kb/s (and the size of each file doubles) but the result is still the same - they go into the Unknown podcast folder and will not load on my iPod.
The thing that seems to be different about them is that they automatically go into the podcast folder rather than into a music folder.
The iPod is using version 1.2 software and my iTunes is version 5.0.1
    Tony
